Photoshop :: Scanning 35mm Slides - Dpi V Scale Percentage
Feb 1, 2006I am batch scanning 35mm slides 15 at a time using an Epson 1680. I have been playing with the various dpi's and scale to find the best settings so I can cut the slides and paste them into Powerpoint for a lecture. What I have been finding is that when I cut the slide from the scanned image (of 15 in the holder) and place it in my powerpoint slide and then enlarge it, it is too blurry.
I have tried enlarging the dpi to 2400 but the computer won't scan it. I seem to get OK images in powerpoint at 90dpi and 800% scale but I really want them sharper.
How can I do this? Is it best to scan the slides individually and not use the holder?
More importantly, although the slides look OK on my laptop how will they look when they are projected onto the big screen. I do't want them to be too blurry.

Dec 13, 2012I need a tool or option in order to set the time/date of a series of scanned slide files into the date/time sequence of my choice (when browsing with the Organizer in "Thumbnail View" (I.e. in Date/time order).
For those slides that I had sent within slide-trays, I asked the scan shop for the following for the photo-files resulting from the scan:That the name of the photo-files include a trailing number reflecting sequence as the slides within their trays.That the scan timestamp sequence reflects the sequence of the slides within their trays (this was and is important for me, in order to be able to browse within the PSE Organizer through the scan-result of one tray, in the same sequence as the slides within their trays; even when the resulting photo-files are not organized in a PSE Album; and even when being in “Thumbnail View” sequence). Unfortunately, the scan shop forgot about this request and I can therefore not look (in Thumbnail View” mode) at the scan results in the same sequence as the slides within their trays.
I am looking for a Windows Tool (or a PSE Organizer Tool/plug-in) that will allow me to set the time of a series of Foto-Files in ascending time sequence. A tool that will for example allow me to select multiple foto files • then, allow allow me to specify the date/Time of the first photo-file within the selected files to the date/time of my choiceand then add an increment of 1 or n seconds (or 1 or n minutes) to each one of the fotos that follows in the selected series. Question: For a Windows 7 and PSE 8 environment are you aware of such a tool? (the scan shop told me, they are not aware of such a tool)
Two details: When looking (before importing the foto files into the PSE Organizer) with Windows Explorer at a folder containing the scanned photo-files I can see the following: the foto files have both a “Date Created” and a “Date Modified”. But they have not yet a “Date Shot”. I do not know, whether this can make it simpler to find a solution.I tried without success, the following within the V8 Organizer, I displayed the photos in “Folder Location” view (in V8, this will show the foto-files of each folder in file-name sequence),while in Folder Location view, I selected all photos of one folderthen, while still in Folder view I did “Adjust Date and Time of Selected items” --> “change to a specified date and time”.
It seems that all selected photos got (exactly?) the same time, Unfortunately this did not work for me. Why that?
After the Time-Adjust, when switching from “Folder Location” view to “Thumbnail View”, the photos of that folder were still in the desired sequence (that looked great and I was happy). After editing one of these photos (and when storing the edited result within a versionset) , the edited version of the photo was still in the desired sequence (this still looked great!). But surprise – surprise..., once I exited from the Organizer and then relaunched it, the Versionset containing the edited Photo changed its position to the end of the series of photos having the same date/time – this was no more its desired position/sequence.
Photoshop Elements :: 11 - Add Glow In Perfect Portrait
Mar 19, 2014I have used the photoshop elements 11 for over a year now, and it works great. I have used the add glow settings in perfect portrait many many times. It always gave a bright and glowy image, but a few months ago that changed. I have never changed any of the settings, but one day when I used it it turned out all dark and grainy. The settings are the same, diffuse glow, so I don't understand why the sudden change? I have tried everything, but I can't get it back to normal.

Oct 10, 2011My goal is to get it so that I can just turn on realistic visual style and ray tracing and be able to get usable screen shots for product datasheets/ marketing material without having to resort to rendering in studio. (If possible and I think it should be) All my products feature a black powder coated enclosure (think DVD player shape/size). When I enable ray tracing all I basically see is a black blob with no good definition between surfaces,etc.I'm assuming now that I need to do 2 things #1 increase/modify lighting and #2 modify the colors in the style library to work better. For that black color in the style editor I basically have all 4 colors (ambient/diffuse/specular/emissive) set to black. Is there something I should do to allow "more realistic" colors instead of just all color options set as black? I've gotten very decent renders from studio that worked just fine in the past but I've got roughly 400+ screenshots that are needed now for new products. I can play around with settings till I'm blue in the face but I was just looking for tips to have a decent baseline to start with.

Oct 11, 2012I am using the Nikon Super CoolScan8000 and Vuescan program to scan a slide film. I am scanning at this setting: scan resolution 4000 dpi. I have to make it a certain dimension that someone has been asking me for. They want the image at Width = 60cm (approx. 23 inches) and 300 dpi.
When I scan at 4000 dpi, I'm not sure what size to make the printed width. I have experimented numerous times and I've had no luck with getting exactly what I want. It seems that when I make the width 60 cm (the height adjusts proportionately) and the dpi at 300, the quality is not that great, which it definitely needs to be because it will be printed at a large size.
PS I am using Adobe Photoshop CS3 and I also have Adobe Photoshop Elements 9.

I have calibrated the monitor and changed the color profile, color management & color space numerous times and they I cannot see any difference in the prints. I've changed the printer settings, still too dark. I have edited the photos and brightened them, still much darker than on the display. I'm using Photoshop Elements 10 with a new monitor and computer. My old computer and Adobe Photoshop CS2 program did not have this problem.

Aug 13, 2013I use to copy over a layer into a file. as a smart object, transform it. Then if I needed to replace the image. I would double click and the contents would open as a .psb file. I could then replace the image and save it and it was updated in the main comp file.
Now, if I double click I just get Camera Raw? If I choice edit SO same thing. Replace content lets me choose another file, but I don't have the open .psb which I could work on before saving it back.
What am I doing wrong now to not get the .psb to open and edit?
Photoshop Elements :: Pictures Changing From Light To Dark
Jun 11, 2013I finish editing my pictures, save as PSD and a 2nd as jpeg. i view the picture in windows live gallery (windows 7 64bit) and it has changed to a dark deep contrast.
I open the jpeg or the PSD file and they both appear as i originally saved them until I select/ click on it. and i get the darker deep contrasted image.
I have tried to have Photoshop elements 9, in preferences set to windows color and I tried it at Adobe no difference.
Jpegs are saved as sRGB but it is affecting all images, fine while editing but when saved and reviewed it changes and when opened i get to different contrasting views of the same image when selected. This is really anoying me as you think your done and it looks completely different when you review it.

May 31, 2012How do yo display the focal length in 35mm equivalent? I've found a plug-in that sorts photos in 35mm eq., but I'm looking for a way/plug-in that displays the focal length in 35mm eq. in the loop info.
Every other PP editor that I've used in the past were inferior to LR but still had the ability to show the focal length in 35mm. I'm wondering why LR, a far superior tool, is lacking in that department. Since I'm still learning photography and use 2 interchangeable lens camera systems with different crop factors and well as two compact cameras, going through my photos with the focal length in mind really give better understanding of perspective.
Photoshop :: CC - Smart Objects Do Not Update After Editing And Saving?
Jul 28, 2013A file with smart objects. Whe I double click on the icon of the smart object a new filke opens with te content of the smat object.
After editing I choose to close and CC asks if I want to save the file.This is exactly like CS6 does but now in CC I am aked for a place on disk to save and the content of the original file is not updated.Is this normal behaviour or am I missing something?

I cannot edit the photos because I do not know what will print out. I have switched back to Photoshop 7 and my photos print fine, just as they have been edited.

Nov 9, 2013I am trying to mask out a light source in a complex figure. I have just upgraded from PSE 11 -> 12, but I doubt that is the problem. I thought the clone stamp tool in Editor was simply not working. When I'd drag (after setting a source) over the bright area, it would darken where I dragged.
From experience it seemed like it was marking the area it was going to modify - but this turned out to be the extent of the modification. It just stayed dark. Following other discussions, I adjusted my depth of history to ease RAM footprint, restarted Editor, and rebooted my Mac (OSC 10.9). I also twiddled with all the options under Clone Overlay. I could see the effects, but they did not fix the issue. When I try the Clone Stamp tool elsewhere, it does what I expect.
I'm suspecting pilot error, but don't know what else to try.

May 13, 2009I have a Plustek OpticFilm 7300 slide scanner. Here's what I want to do:- Create a 4:3 (fixed ratio) frame that I can use to crop the slides. To my knowledge, all of my pictures will benefit from some selective cropping.- Remove dirt specs and lint squiggles from the JPG through software.- Scan slides to JPG, 640x480 pixels, high quality [HQ] (200 - 300 KB/picture).I believe this can all be done entirely within Photoshop, but I haven't been successful in figuring out how. Can anyone briefly tell me the steps needed?Note that I do have other tools (SilverFast, PageManager, VueScan, Irfanview, etc.) which will do all the above, but I've been using these tools and the results have been poor. I've been reading for years now that Photoshop excels in all forms of digital photo processing, so I'd like to learn how do do the task using only CS4! Assuming I get good results, I'll buy the program before my 30-day trial ends (28 days from now)This is an example of the type of slide I'm processing. This picture was taken 42 years ago in Vietnam and was not touched up with software.
