Lightroom :: Display Focal Length In 35mm Equivalent?
May 31, 2012
How do yo display the focal length in 35mm equivalent? I've found a plug-in that sorts photos in 35mm eq., but I'm looking for a way/plug-in that displays the focal length in 35mm eq. in the loop info.
Every other PP editor that I've used in the past were inferior to LR but still had the ability to show the focal length in 35mm. I'm wondering why LR, a far superior tool, is lacking in that department. Since I'm still learning photography and use 2 interchangeable lens camera systems with different crop factors and well as two compact cameras, going through my photos with the focal length in mind really give better understanding of perspective.

I'm having this problem in version 3 and 4. I have a Canon 40D and all of my photos that I've editing in LR (not cropped) are missing the focal length in the EXIF data.
This does not happen with Canon DPP. LR will see the focal length in the library view, but when it's converted to JPG and then viewed in ZoomBrowser or whatever program that piece of data is missing.
Windows 7 SP1 x64, LR x64, "Minimized embded data" is unchecked as well.

I am retaking photos that my father took of vacation locations he visited several states away some 80 years ago. I have found the exact location for many, but find on my return home that the images that I took at 16mm do not match the scene that he photographed, probably at about 28 mm, as that is probably the lowest focal length lens he had at the time. Can I use my CS4 software to correct the difference in the scenes caused by the different focal length shots?
Simple enlarging does not work, as this makes cropping necessary, thus making my retake of the scene smaller in scope, thus not matching the original total scene.

Joelle_s_flower_perspective.jpg
What's the best focal length for taking pictures of flowers. OOPS I meant, what's the best subject to camera distance for taking pictures of flowers.
We have to ask the resident expert on perspective. Joelle is the resident expert in the PSP newsgroup on perspective.
Joelle's pictures show an incredible mastery of achieving a desired depth of field (aka perspective).Look at the attached images. Both have flat lighting. Neither have any artifacts of lighting, placement, backgrounds, etc. to achieve or remove the sense of depth.
Yet the first image is distinctly three dimensional. The second image is distinctly two dimensional (oriental style). It looks like magic to me.

I have taken identical camera images with different focal points to test a focus stacking theory. Problem is I've forgotten what order these images were taken. Is there any way in Lightroom 4 that I can see the "subject distance" assuming that this will show me the focal points that I need to stack the images? I have checked these images but cannot confirm which focus order they are. I know the exif info contains this "subject distance" as I've seen it on Flickr.

I build frames with various lengths of square and rectangular structural tube. All of my tubing members are generated from a custom iPart factory. When I insert a tube into my assembly, I key in the required length and the tube is generated. I would like to be able to automatically display the length of the member in a custom field in the parts list.

I must have changed a setting and now I cannot figure out what I did.
On AutoCad at school, when drawing a line, there is a light blue dialogue box that would pop up above the cursor telling you the length of the line before you set it. (not the coordinates).
This is not showing up on the educational version of AutoCad I am running at home.

So when i would select a line, hover over one of the endpoints, the length and angle would be shown, as a quick dimension. for some reason that has stopped, all it does now if i select the line, hover over an endpoint the only thing it says is stretch, or lengthen.
RANT!!! (come on 2013, thats stupid, stretch and lengthen are basically the same thing, dont you think if i stretch something it would automatically lengthen something, and if i lenghtened something, it in fact would also be stretching it. and to see you replaced the simple dimensioning of that line with a pointless i wouldnt call it option. now to figure out the length i have to keep the properties file open, or i have to draw a faux line over the current one just to check its length, or literally i have to draw a dimension line.) EnD!!
What option might have been turned off? and that the new array no longer gives you a box, but you do it all through the command line. or the dynamic input. That was an AWESOME box that i do miss dearly, and no longer have the option to bring back..

When building an annotation template, in the block editor (annotation editor etc..); how do you take the length of a 2D line or pline to be the display of my template?
Doing a water system map and it would be nice to have a line length with the ' symbol at the end rounded to the nearest foot on each length of pipe.

This isn't *exactly* PS related, but it does involve pictures that I would like to be able to open in PS.
Years ago, in high school, I took several hundred B&W photos over the course of a few years. I still have all the negatives. Is it possible to get them converted to hi-res JPEGs for a more preferable (to me) storage? If so, where is a good place to get this done?

I am batch scanning 35mm slides 15 at a time using an Epson 1680. I have been playing with the various dpi's and scale to find the best settings so I can cut the slides and paste them into Powerpoint for a lecture. What I have been finding is that when I cut the slide from the scanned image (of 15 in the holder) and place it in my powerpoint slide and then enlarge it, it is too blurry.
I have tried enlarging the dpi to 2400 but the computer won't scan it. I seem to get OK images in powerpoint at 90dpi and 800% scale but I really want them sharper.
How can I do this? Is it best to scan the slides individually and not use the holder?
More importantly, although the slides look OK on my laptop how will they look when they are projected onto the big screen. I do't want them to be too blurry.

I am using the Nikon Super CoolScan8000 and Vuescan program to scan a slide film. I am scanning at this setting: scan resolution 4000 dpi. I have to make it a certain dimension that someone has been asking me for. They want the image at Width = 60cm (approx. 23 inches) and 300 dpi.
When I scan at 4000 dpi, I'm not sure what size to make the printed width. I have experimented numerous times and I've had no luck with getting exactly what I want. It seems that when I make the width 60 cm (the height adjusts proportionately) and the dpi at 300, the quality is not that great, which it definitely needs to be because it will be printed at a large size.
PS I am using Adobe Photoshop CS3 and I also have Adobe Photoshop Elements 9.

Is it possible to change the length of a line based on the length of an attribute?
I'd like to make the line a MINIMUM length of X" (I haven't decided how long yet--but know I'll need a minimum). But then after the user fills in the attribute, I'd like the length of the line to change to the length of the attribute plus a small amount (again, I haven't decided yet how much extra).

I was wondering if there is a way with DB's to have a line "follow" or "grow" with the content/value length of an attribute. Maybe some method of linking the attribute width to length of the line? Essentially, it would work just like turning on the underline setting when typing in mtext editor (or any program with an underline option for that matter), expect that the line could be placed anywhere, and would not have to reside directly below the text.

With using superelevation wizard in Civil 3d 2012, changing the lane width is not affecting the resulted values of transion length and run-off length, Is that correct ? ( as civil is using standerd AASHTO tables which assume that lane width typically is 3.6m )
Also, There is only 2 tables for 2-lanes and 4-lanes roadway, Is it for total road width or for one directon only, and what about different no. of lanes ?

Using LR4.4 on Windows7 64-bit Pro, and I am new to video. I shot a 1 minute segment and used the tools in Lightroom to trim that to about 16 seconds. I made no other changes in QuickDevelop. Then I exported to a location on my hard drive, specifying "Original" in the format choice.
The file that emerged was the full 1 minute length when inserted in ProShow Gold and ran the full clip as shot.
I have looked over the video tools documentation and it seems to confirm that length is a parameter of export. Why the file that exported retained the original length?

In CorelDRAW X5 I sometimes need to convert a PMS tint to its RGB equivalent. I have discovered that the RGB equivalents reported by CorelDRAW X5 differ — depending on which method is used. I saved a PMS tint to the Color Styles mini-palette, then right-clicked to open the Edit Color Style panel and determine the equivalent RGB components. However, if an object which uses the exact same PMS tint as used in the Color Style is instead examined in the Object Properties panel, different RGB values are reported.
