If your scanner manufacturer does not support scanning in 64-bit mode, or you have issues scanning with TWAIN, you can scan into Photoshop CS6 using Apple’s ImageKit technology, which is built into Photoshop CS6, does not need a plug-in to be installed, and provides access to a large number of scanners.
That doesn't work with my Epson Perfection V350 Photo. I wonder if it actually works with any scanner. With Photoshop CS6 have wiped out many scanners that don't have 64-bit compliant drivers, why doesn't Adobe connect with Apple's Image Capture app? Why doesn't the V350 work with the ImageKit technology alllegedly part of Photoshop CS6?
I received a TIF image with 5 pages built in to the single image. When I open it in PS CS it does this Pixel Aspect Ratio thing. Which seems to be fine, but I can't figure out how to view the other pages in the TIF. Since Adobe (I think), owns the TIF format as well as PSD, I assume PS has a function to not only SEE and EDIT multi-page TIF files, but also CREATE them.
So Question 1 is, how do I handle multi-page TIF documents? For reading, editing and creating them? A tutorial or help page or another site, whatever is fastest for you guys. I can't find the functions. Or recommend another app to turn 5 TIFs into a SINGLE document would be fine also. -------------------
Second question is. I have an older scanner that is on it's way out. I have black and white text documents I need to scan and sign and E-mail. Problem is, my scanner WON'T scan in black and white! The page either comes out blank white or as black and white stripes. I CAN scan as a color, or greyscale image. Now then, let's say I scan this doc as greyscale, as a JPG.
I open the JPG file in PS. Now the page is not B/W to begin with. The whole of the document has an off-white Grey hue to it. I want to make sure it has solid text (no gradients) because the original multi-page TIF is this way. And I want the background to be solid white and text solid black. When it first comes into PS it is greyscale with gradients on the text and a non-white color across the whole image.
How can I convert this to B/W and have good looking black text on white? Plus how do I take these five scans after converting them, and turn them back into a multi-page TIF like the original?
The other thing to note is, that I am amazed about. The original 5page TIF is only 134KB. But even with all my editing I can get as low as a single, ONE page TIF at 80KB. How in the world did they compress so far and still look so nice with so many pages! I am hoping to edit these docs, convert to b/w and put back in a 5 page TIF, and not be far off from the original file size. -----------------
What I have tried to far is messing with the "Mode". Changing to duotone and other stuff in that menu. I've used magic eraser to try to remove the background (but still looks like crap in and around fonts). I've used the hue/saturation tools but that doesn't leave crisp lettering. I can accept "some" baddies around the fonts. Seeing as how it is scanned. But one of my attempts produces pretty nasty looking fonts! Like so:
This is 516% zoom. You can see "something" needs to change to make this clearer. And artifacts still show up here and there as black dots around the document. Somehow I got it to be b/w.
how to scan an image directly into Elements 12 (for Mac). Just "upgraded" from 6 and can find no answers other than to go to Apple menu, scan in with Preview or Image Capture, save to desktop, then retrieve with Elements.
I am pausing the .wmv and doing a screen print and a paste into photoshop.
It is not working as the screen print is really not capturing the video frame, if I close windows media player, the video image disappears from the psd file even if I save the psd before closing windows media player.
How can I capture a video frame and import the image into photoshop?
Assume a youtube video played in an internet browser. What is the best way to capture a still image from inside a browser like IE? Does PS CS6 have this ability? What other Adobe product?
if there are any digital cameras which do image capture with greater than 8 bits per channel? I don't doubt such a camera would be well out of my price range, but I've got into scanning and working with with 16-bit colour and I've got the itch...
does anyone here regularly work in a 16-bit colour space?
I have a Plustek OpticFilm 7300 slide scanner. Here's what I want to do:- Create a 4:3 (fixed ratio) frame that I can use to crop the slides. To my knowledge, all of my pictures will benefit from some selective cropping.- Remove dirt specs and lint squiggles from the JPG through software.- Scan slides to JPG, 640x480 pixels, high quality [HQ] (200 - 300 KB/picture).I believe this can all be done entirely within Photoshop, but I haven't been successful in figuring out how. Can anyone briefly tell me the steps needed?Note that I do have other tools (SilverFast, PageManager, VueScan, Irfanview, etc.) which will do all the above, but I've been using these tools and the results have been poor. I've been reading for years now that Photoshop excels in all forms of digital photo processing, so I'd like to learn how do do the task using only CS4! Assuming I get good results, I'll buy the program before my 30-day trial ends (28 days from now)This is an example of the type of slide I'm processing. This picture was taken 42 years ago in Vietnam and was not touched up with software.
I am using photoshop elements 5 to make a slide show. After previewing it there were many RANDOM slides where the picture was no longer there, just a COMPLETELY BLACK SLIDE. How do I recover these? I cannot possibly remember which pictures were in all of the spots.
I am batch scanning 35mm slides 15 at a time using an Epson 1680. I have been playing with the various dpi's and scale to find the best settings so I can cut the slides and paste them into Powerpoint for a lecture. What I have been finding is that when I cut the slide from the scanned image (of 15 in the holder) and place it in my powerpoint slide and then enlarge it, it is too blurry.
I have tried enlarging the dpi to 2400 but the computer won't scan it. I seem to get OK images in powerpoint at 90dpi and 800% scale but I really want them sharper.
How can I do this? Is it best to scan the slides individually and not use the holder?
More importantly, although the slides look OK on my laptop how will they look when they are projected onto the big screen. I do't want them to be too blurry.
I have had a problem occur in the past few slideshows I have tried to produce in Photoshop Elements 10. When I try to export to Premiere Elements or Windows DVD Maker to burn, some slides show up as blanks. I have also had a problem with some musical selections not playing.
I wanted to use the capture screen feature but when I go to file-import-screen capture - the setup and capture features are grayed out and I can't get to set up. What can I do.
Having recently swapped my old iMac for a new Retina MacBook Pro running OS X 10.9.1, I seem to be having some difficulty getting the new Mac to open Lightroom 5.3 when a memory card is inserted either into the SD card slot on the laptop itself or into the card reader of the monitor. I have no problems importing pictures into Lightroom if I open Import myself but I find it odd that cannot enable the same function as I had on the old iMac. Within the Lightroom preferences I have the option "Show import dialog when a memory card is detected" enabled. However, what I find really odd is that my old stalwart application for sorting this sort of stuff out, Image Capture, does not seem to recognise Lightroom. When I open this application with a memory card inserted I am unable to select Lightroom as an "Other" option from the "Import to" menu. see the screenshot below. what is causing Image Capture to dislike my fresh install of Lightroom (via Creative Cloud).
How do I prevent PSE 9 from creating and displaying multiple copies of a given slide ? I have not asked for or made copies yet I often find multiple copies of a given slide, sometimes as many as 20 or 30. It's very annoying when trying to edit slides.
I have Corel VideoStudio Pro X3 as well as the trial version of X4 which I have just downloaded. I am having the same problem with both versions. When I go into Capture, there is no image coming through the Capture Window, it is just black. When I hit Capture Video, it does start capturing and it does record video correctly, however when I stop capturing, the preview window turns black again.
How can I get the video to be seen in the Capture preview window?
My computer is Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit edition. I am using a USB capture device, the Diamond Multimedia VC500 One Touch VHS Video Capture USB 2.0.
Is there a procedural way to download my photos to LR3 instead of Image Capture on my iMAC? I had Apple Store Geniuses fix the Safe Mode problem (which i posted in a different thread) so when I got home and tried to download my photos from the CF card reader it showed up in the Image Capture screen but not in LR3. I had the CF card reader attached to the computer's USB port before turning on the computer.
Should I have turned on the computer first and then open LR3 before connecting the card reader? My guess is that because LR3 was not opened first, the downloading went somewhere else.
I need a tool or option in order to set the time/date of a series of scanned slide files into the date/time sequence of my choice (when browsing with the Organizer in "Thumbnail View" (I.e. in Date/time order).
For those slides that I had sent within slide-trays, I asked the scan shop for the following for the photo-files resulting from the scan:That the name of the photo-files include a trailing number reflecting sequence as the slides within their trays. That the scan timestamp sequence reflects the sequence of the slides within their trays (this was and is important for me, in order to be able to browse within the PSE Organizer through the scan-result of one tray, in the same sequence as the slides within their trays; even when the resulting photo-files are not organized in a PSE Album; and even when being in “Thumbnail View” sequence). Unfortunately, the scan shop forgot about this request and I can therefore not look (in Thumbnail View” mode) at the scan results in the same sequence as the slides within their trays.
I am looking for a Windows Tool (or a PSE Organizer Tool/plug-in) that will allow me to set the time of a series of Foto-Files in ascending time sequence. A tool that will for example allow me to select multiple foto files • then, allow allow me to specify the date/Time of the first photo-file within the selected files to the date/time of my choiceand then add an increment of 1 or n seconds (or 1 or n minutes) to each one of the fotos that follows in the selected series. Question: For a Windows 7 and PSE 8 environment are you aware of such a tool? (the scan shop told me, they are not aware of such a tool)
Two details: When looking (before importing the foto files into the PSE Organizer) with Windows Explorer at a folder containing the scanned photo-files I can see the following: the foto files have both a “Date Created” and a “Date Modified”. But they have not yet a “Date Shot”. I do not know, whether this can make it simpler to find a solution.I tried without success, the following within the V8 Organizer, I displayed the photos in “Folder Location” view (in V8, this will show the foto-files of each folder in file-name sequence),while in Folder Location view, I selected all photos of one folderthen, while still in Folder view I did “Adjust Date and Time of Selected items” --> “change to a specified date and time”.
It seems that all selected photos got (exactly?) the same time, Unfortunately this did not work for me. Why that?
After the Time-Adjust, when switching from “Folder Location” view to “Thumbnail View”, the photos of that folder were still in the desired sequence (that looked great and I was happy). After editing one of these photos (and when storing the edited result within a versionset) , the edited version of the photo was still in the desired sequence (this still looked great!). But surprise – surprise..., once I exited from the Organizer and then relaunched it, the Versionset containing the edited Photo changed its position to the end of the series of photos having the same date/time – this was no more its desired position/sequence.
I have PSPro X.Often when I capture an image, figures show which I presume is the image size measurements. What can I do to avoid these figures being seen in the screen capture target area.
I'm using GIMP 2.6.11 on Windows XP. I use "ALT + PRINT" to capture the active program's screen and "Edit -> Paste as -> New Image" to create a new image from the captured screen.
The problem is that the new image always shows extra lines (about 3-pixel wide) on the left side and clips the right side. I haven't verified it pixel-by-pixel, but it looks like what's clipped on the right side is displayed on the left side.
But the problem doesn't happen when I do "File -> Create -> Screen Shot -> Grab a single window"; it shows up nicely.
Also even when I use "ALT + PRINT" to capture, the problem doesn't happen when I paste it to a different program, such as Windows Paint or even WordPad; it happens only when I do "Paste as New Image" in GIMP.
I'm having an issue using LR4 where when shooting in tethered capture mode the previewed image wont advance to the photo you have just taken. The file is there, but you have to manually advance to it.
I am wanting to make a grip that slides along a polyline. Similar to the diamond shaped grips used in Civil3d to slide along alignments and pipe objects to pick stations and insert labels. How this can be done in .net.
