View 2 RepliesI have a series of Autocad Objects (3D faces). I need to turn the contiguous group of them into a SINGLE Autocad surface. I know next to nothing about vanilla autocad and 3D stuff. Seems there must be a way to make a surface out of objects. I would then use this resulting surface to carve a solid. DWG with 3D faces in it attached.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy recent project has included taking a face and putting it on a different body (or vice versa). Here are my steps (and youll see why Im requesting better ways to do this )
1. Get an image that I want someones face in. Go into MS Paint (YIKES, I know; but the "magic tool" in photoshop doesn't always erase the right stuff) and slowly/carefully make an outline of white around the person's head.
2. Cut out the head (looks jagged and not smooth) from Paint, resize it with Irfan View.
3. Find a picture of a random body, put it in photoshop
4. Paste the head into photoshop file and position it over the old head.
5. Recolor/contrast both layers so they match skin tone/lighting and then blur edges of face so it doesn't look so rough
I have modeled a face and body of a character separately. I want to join both of them but the border edges are not the same . so whats the method to join both of them together .

We thought one guy is doing the Facial Rigging and another Guy the Body Rigging. Is it possible to combine the weight maps etc to get a perfectly working solution?

View 7 Replies View RelatedAll right so I'm animating a horse like creature with duik tools but I'm not sure how to get my face features to react along with the movement of the body. For instance I have the horse bring it's head down. Parenting was the first thing I thought of but when I parent the features; mouths, eyes, eye lashes, ears, etc; to the body it makes it to where they follow along with the body but not the right direction. Example; the mouth will still be facing to the right even if the head is looking down.

I tried to slice a solid after a quite complex surface and received this error.
"The Boolean operation on solid and/or surface bodies failed.Modeling Operation Error: Inconsistent face-body relationships.SLICE failed for selected solid."
What I have tried:I up-scaled the surface-solid ensemble by 10x but it didn't work(same error)
I extruded that complex,multi-plane surface and then sliced it with a horizontal plane and got the desired solid BUT:I would like to know what the cause of that problem was and how it can be solved so that I can slice that solid following that surface.
Alright, I made a custom bookshelf to fit under my stairs, however, when I created them, I made them on a horizontal plane, so when I loaded into my project, my book shelf is laying down in the middle of the living room floor, which was fun at first, but nearly an hour later I am not so amused. Is there a way to flip it vertically or do I have to remake the whole bookshelf?

I am working with some CAD imported meshes at the moment and accidentally deleted some faces. I have noticed this before but is it me or there's no UNDO function when working with "Body" objects? What happens if I do a mistake? Load the last saved files?

And then put in a lot of work skinning the body.I'd like to be able to replace the low poly head with a higher poly head from Mudbox, that has blendshapes (that I could hopefully use as morphs by moving sliders).
I needed to select both the body and head so that one skin was applied to both so that they would deform properly.
1. How can I replace the low-poly head with the hi-poly head (FBX from Mudbox).
The weighting on the head can be done again, but I can't loose all the weighting work on the body.
2. Any issues with getting the blendhshape morphs from Mudbox to work on the head?

Ive recently been updated to 3dsmax design 2013. Ive installed the latest SP (6). I notice, I cannot use any of the display properties. Everything is greyed out. Specifically I need to enable backface culling on certain objects.
The only customization I have employed is the Dark Workspace. Nothing else. Using Nvidia quadro 4000 Video Card W/ DirectX 11 Support. Using DirectX 10

Im trying to move objects correctly , lets say from one to top of another .
Untill now im switching to desired view ( top, right, left etc...) and then moving . if my base point is a vertex and the point i want it to be attached it also a vertex , i have no problem. the problem starts when im trying to move object from their center point or other non vertex points to touch the face of the other object.
In the file i attached there's two rectangles i want to move the small one in top of the big one in the Z axis only , so i switched to the view i want but still unable to move it to the next face . Ive tried playing with 3d object snap , no success.
How I can check if an object is within a polygon face on the y axis?
On another note, would it be possible to get a world coordinates of the U or V vectors of a vertex? I had been trying to calculate it from two vertices that has around the same V values, but in some cases they don’t exist.
So there seems to be a problem with the multi body part functions in 2013.
Once you create a multi body, or a multi body feature, and then try to go back and edit it you can no longer select difference bodies.
A little more digging and it almost seems like the problem is that you can not use "ctrl" to multi select bodies.

A user is having problems when using the copy command in AutoCAD 2013.
When they select objects, its not reporting on the commandline how many objects its found or keeping a running total of objects selected. Not even any duplications...
I've tested it on my machine but i cannot replicate the issue and have never come across this before!
Is it a bug? Is it a variable? User setting etc.
I simply would like to show the normal vector of a 3d face, is it possible?
