How can I convert a surface body in a solid body?
I attach my file.
I am trying to convert this composite surface into a single solid body, however when I try to stich the surfaces in the construction environment it always crashes. I have also tried edditing the STEP file import options but it still always opens as a composite surface.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a multibody surface part, which is derived from a multibody part. Therefor there are multiple contiguous surface parts that are isolated from each other.
Is there a way to STITCH or convert one of these contiguous surfaces into a solid part ?
Note: I tried the THICKEN tool but the hole features do not come out right. Some holes are missing or the hole depths are wrong.
Can I export a solid from a multi body part to an other part file. how?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to split a single solid body into 2 solid bodies. The problem is that the body I'm trying to split consists of two separate pieces. I can split a body when it is a single piece no problem, but I'm having the problem when the two pieces are not joined at all.
When I try and split it on the origin plane it gives this error:
"Creating parting line failed. Could not build this Split"
When I try and split it on a work plane lying on one of the pieces it gives this error:
"Creating parting line failed. Modeling failure in ASM. Redefine inputs."
Or, another variation on this erorr:
"Creating parting line failed. Split feature could not create two bodies. Change the Split Tool so that split feature can create two bodies."
Is possible create new Body (SolidBody) for iFeature? In VBA or .NET.
View 5 Replies View Relatedi used to use Solidwork's sweep-cut with a solid body feature but i can't find it in Inventor now.
Procedure:
In part file;
Create a second solid body (must be axis-symetric, like revolved feature),
Create a path that intersects with the solid (can be a line or a curve),
Sweep the solid along the path with cut command.
I need this where the sweep-cut with a profile is not enough, to get surfaces obtainable by milling on a cylindirical body on a helical path.
I'm making drawings of assemblies in Inventor 2012 and was wondering how to turn off the visibility of specific solid bodies within a single part containing multiple bodies, or make it match the visibility in the assembly and part file itself.
In particular my situation is that I have a camera whose part model includes a solid body for its view cone. The visibility of this solid is turned off, so when opening the camera itself, or the assembly containing it, it doesn't appear, but when I place that assembly or part in a drawing it's included, and the only way I've figured out to get rid of it is to turn the whole camera's visibility off within the drawing.
I want to make an ipart of a container with as customizable parameters (the Diameter and the Volume of one of the solid bodies).

Here comes the problem:
when i was changing the volume parameter, i recieved an error that this property was read-only.is it possible te use the volume calculation from inventor the calculate back to the diameter or height? ,and also for a solid body?
If so, what do i need to do? I am using inventor 2013 (basic).
Is there a way to get that long tube and that rectangular part all around that middle circle.

Open this picture. In the end it would end up looking something like that lamp shade. I got one part down so is there a way to get a bunch of those around instead of redrawing it?
I have created two solid body in the modeling mode &maintained seperate body ( Didn't combine) there after hide & visibility off one solid body .while taking the detail that time two solid body is appearing. how to switch of the body in detail.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've created an assembly by using "Make Components" from a part comprised of solid bodies. If I suppress a feature in the "Control Part.ipt" (the part that holds all the solid bodies) it removed the part from the assembly, but it does not remove it from the BOM. What do I have to do to make the BOM follow what the assembly looks like?

I'm trying to bolt a solid body (Honda GX160 engine) onto a piece of angle iron (from frame generator). Starting with a point on a plane on the engine, the Bolted Connection Generator will not let me select a termination plane on the angle iron.

I've created a tie-on-cable marker tag using Loft, Replace Face and Split techniques. After splitting, I turn off the visibility of one of the two resulting solid bodies. File A208P03_Label.jpg shows the results with solid body Solid2 visibility either on or off.
The cable marker tag is then used in an assembly file shown in MI-CA-0261.iam.jpg and a drawing file shown in MI-CA-0261.idw.jpg. The problem I have is that Solid2 is showing up in the idw drawing file when I'd rather it's visibility be off as in the .iam assembly file.
I'm editing a solid body part file.
I've made all sketches and workplanes etc not visible.
When i edit a sketch down the tree, obviously the sketch becomes visible but the problem I have is some other sketches and workplanes also become visible.
I'm currently using the "Make components" feature to convert solid bodies into parts. This works great, but we use this method to construct angular roof structures, and after the parts have been made the parts have angular relationships to the .ipt files UCS co-ordinates. It would be very useful if I could align the longest edge of the part (Which is a timber truss) with the x axis in the model space and "lay" the plank flat on the X-Y plane.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just did a Circular Pattern of a threaded holes to a second solid body. The hole came through but the thread did not?Right now I have SP1 installed. I have been using solid bodies for a long time now and have not seen this.
A co-worker just came up with the same thing?
I want to duplicate a solid body 4 times in a part file. i did that by going for circular pattern. But after creating that, i had to add on few more features. I did that in parent solid body. then I noticed that other 3 solid body is not getting updated. I know in assembly file it gets updated but any way in part file.
View 3 Replies View Relatedif i draw up a 3d sold part as the finished part, can i then draw a new rectangle solid body over the top of this and split the new solid body using the part as the split tool?
the idea being that i am left with a rectangular plate with a female 3d impression of the finished part in the top.I can't seem to use the part as a split tool?
Using the options param available for Create Transient Surface Body. The documentation states there is an option for Stitching and Merge Faces, which I would like to toggle to true. However, I'm not sure how of the correct syntax to provide this object.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIf we require to create patterned holes thru a number of solids, this works great only requiring the one hole feature.
However, once an assembly is created with the parts, (these parts obviously have their own derived individual solids in them) when needing to place a bolted generated assembly to the patterned holes. It won't recognise the pattern.
So I've come to the conclusion that the bolted generator/drop place function really needs improvement for solid body modelling technique. (Mind you, the BG needs a complete rethink because its at about 50% complete).
What I can see needs to be added, is the functionality of the parts recognising the hole pattern. e.g. when using the make components function it gives an option to add a link to the hole feature.
My only other option at present is to create the holes within the assembly file and transfer the hole feature to each part file. This obviously loses the parametric functionality.
I was given a .sat file from a third party company. When i pull it into CAD 2011 it comes in as a "body". It views like a wireframe object. I can't slice, subtract, union, etc. when i import it to Navis works it views like wireframe. The problem with this is that i can't run clash detection against this part then.
Any way to convert it to a solid?

I'm trying to create a solid body from a non uniform 3d frame Actually I bought this model and it turned out to be hollow inside. How to make it a complete single solid body? [This model is a part of human bone]
i can't change the radius of a solid body.
example :i made a radius with the command "fillet edges",radius=50 mm.
the next day i decided to cahnge to radius= 30 mm.
i presssed the "ctrl" bottom, clicked the radius surface to change ,but in the properties tab was written "solid face",with no radius change option.
finnaly i delleted the radius face, and made a new solid edge radius.....
is this the only way?
(solidhist variable is set to 1 ).
Is there any way to convert a surface to solid?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWe received a surface model from a vendor that I have patched up as best I can, it still has one hole that I can find that I haven't been able to fill. Ideally we would like to have a solid model, but I'm running out of time to get this done and the surface model we have would be good enough for our purposes IF I can get the yellow surface tangent lines to turn off or change their color to black.
I've attached a jpg of the surface model with the yellow lines and uploaded the model here: [URL].....
Is there away to use an IFeature creating a new body?
I mean, modeling a part as multibody, i would like to insert a feature with an iFeature, but i would like too that that new feature will be a new body.
I have tried in many ways.. including inserting in the ifeature a Split Feature..but with no sucess.
I would like to create 3D model of a boat attached. How to create front part of the boat.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an insert that I'd like to split into several layers. Is it possible to do this with the split tool, or is it limited to only one "split tool" at a time?
In the picture, the wireframe is the 'insert', the letters indicative of cavities cut into the insert. The purple sketch lines would be typical of where the solid part would be split into multiple parts.

I'm trying to emboss a sketch to a lofted body. The same sketch is embossed perfectly on a flat/round/extruded/chambered body, but on this particular lofted body I get an error ("Thicken operation would result in a large topology change. Try with a smaller thickness"). I already tried with 0.01mm thickness and still not work. What could be the cause. (I'm using IV 2013)
