AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Display Order Of Connected Pipes In Structure Label
Dec 29, 2011
A way to change the display order of pipes connected to the structure in a structure label? (plan and profile) Say you have a 10", 6" and 12" pipe connected to a structure, modeled in that order, so label would place them 10, 6, 12. we would like the label to display the order as 6,10, then 12 without having to drag the pipes off and then having to re-input inverts.

In the case of a pipe network structure, where one pipe is circular (say 60") and the other pipe is box (say 5'x4'), how can you get the "connected pipes" label to reflect [size in feet X size in feet] for the box pipe and [size in inches] for the circular pipe?
I don't see how you can conditionally affect a portion of the "connected pipes" label since it's one label object.

We've had a little nagging problem that we've just been living with, but getting a little tired of it: when building a pipe network the plotted line will stop plotting at the outter wall of the structure, thus leaviung a gap between the pipe and the structure. On a 48" manhole it's hardly noticable, but when the manhole gets larger, so does the problem. Check out the attached pdf and you'll see what I'm talking about.
I've been through all the style setting I can think of, but I thought there might be a variable to take care of it...like the FACETDEV variable for crossing pipe.

I am trying to model a system of existing storm pipes, where the last catch basin actually has two outfalls: one an 18" pipe and the other a 24" pipe. They have different invert elevations.
I have the pipes set up correctly in Autocad, so that the profile shows up right, and the plan view in Storm Sewers shows up right, too. However, the model does not separate the flows.
Is there a way to manually enter the approximate amount of flow that will discharge through each pipe?

why I can't label certain pipes/structures? I can select the pipe or structure, rt click, add label and I get nothing. The layer is on cause I can see other labels. I also get the same result when I go to annotation, pipe label. This only happenes to certain pipes or structure, others in the same network label fine.

I received some dwg files to show existing utilities from a local municipality. I thought the files would come as shp files, but they are dwg files. The drawings/dwg files show the layout of pipes, but the pipes are polylines. The polylines have data attached to them. The properties show material, size, length, slope, etc. I am trying to label the pipes/polylines and I can't figure out how to get the information from the polylines.

How do I label spanning pressure pipes? I can do it in a pipe network, but not a pressure pipe network.

I have pipe crossings shown in my profile. Only crossings (NO PROJECTIONS). So many elipises. I want to label them. Setting the label style at the pipe network does not work (will not override whatever label style was assigned at the pipe creation). I have accepted this (although it sucks).
Now, to get around it, I go Pipe>Add Label>Add Pipe Network Label. Label type is "Entire Network Profile". When I do this, it labels not only the crossings but all projections. So I have a million labels chilling out in space, where I have no crossing.

I have my pipe networks data referenced into my Utility drawing and I'm trying to add labels to my structures (catch basins, manholes...). I made styles and selected C-TEXT as the layer for the label, but for some reason they're all on layer 0. The 0 layer is frozen in my viewport but the C-TEXT layer is not, and the labels aren't showing up (but when I thaw 0 they show up)! I can see them in model space and when I click on each label the properties shows it's on the C-TEXT layer...

I need to make a structure label that defines the "PIPE FALL" for each incoming pipe. By "PIPE FALL", I mean the elevation difference between the bottom of the structure and the incoming pipe invert elevation.
Actually, I thought it was going to be pretty simple, just by doing:
PIPE FALL = INCOMING PIPE INVERT ELEVATION - OUTGOING PIPE INVERT ELEVATION <CONNECTED PIPE OPPOSITE STRUCTURE NAME>
or
PIPE FALL = INCOMING PIPE INVERT ELEVATION - SUMP ELEVATION <CONNECTED PIPE OPPOSITE STRUCTURE NAME>
I just need to define the elevation difference between the bottom of the structure and the incoming pipe invert elevation.

I've got a weird problem with pipes in 2014. When I edit a pipe (right-click Pipe Properties) and make a change, when I press OK or Apply, the pipe SIZE changes? It's still listed as a 300mm PVC, but it's being represented as a 410mm? Look at the attached image. The storm (green) shoes a 300mm pipe and 375. The 375 is smaller? The pipe style (as you can see int he image, is set to display the inside pipe walls.
Nothing is unique here about the pipe sizes, this is a stock pipe catalog. But the size doesn't really change, only how the pipe is drawn in the profile. I've never seen something like this before. It measures .418m instead of .3m.

Is there a way that I can get a small angle between my leader and the landing? When I get to a certain angle, the text flips. I can't place the text exactly where I want it because of this. I've tried changing the Readability Bias angle in the label style but that didn't work.

I would like to add a wipeout to this structure label so I don't see the profile view grid lines. I want the wipeout to be the exact width and height of the label. I have tried numerous edits but can't seem to get it. What is the easiest/best way to add this wipeout?

How I have come to this question is through the process of trying to realistically show a hydrant in profile view. First off it it possible to create a completely vertical pipe in C3D? Also if you can, is it possible to show that in profile view? Basically, what I am trying to avoid is representing a fire hydrant pipe by creating some sort of custom cyclinder part in partbuilder. I have done this, but do not like the results.

I have drawn in essentially a sewer pressure pipe (using gravity part network because I don't have time to setup the other) and I am using PVC pipe and null structures at the joints. I created the pipe network from a feature line with verticies at the grade breaks and every 10'. As you can see in the picture the pipes are lining up but I have these straggling lines on the profile.

I have a pipe network created that is shown in multiple drawings. I created labels for the structures showing Rims and Inverts. How to put the Rim info on a different layer than the Invert info? Right now the label has 3 different components...I feel like there has to be a way to put each component on different layers...

Water main pipe network profile labels for structures do not attach to the structure properly in C3D 2014 (this same label style works fine in all previous versions of the software, through the 2013 release). The labels come into the drawing at a northing of 0 rather than attaching to the structure itself. However, if you grip edit and reset the labels, they reset to their correct attachment point. Additionally, if you attempt to grip edit the profile labels with Ortho mode on, it moves the label back to a northing of 0. I've created a new block for the structure, but that does not resolve the issue.
I've included a link to a Chronicle video that demonstrates the label behavior. [URL] .......

When I reposition structure labels (in their 'dragged state'), the component <[Structure Offset Side(CU)]> does not show up while in drag mode. Sort of makes it hard to see the limits of the label if you are trying to place it in a congested area. Watch the "LT" part of the label in the GIF below.
No, it's not that big of a deal, but alignment labels with the same component do not behave this way, so I have to wonder why the structure labels do.....

I have a road with storm drain and sanitary sewer. There are three alignments, one for the road centerline, one for the sanitary sewer and one for the storm drain. I would like to label the structures with the stationing from the alignment it's on but I would also like the label to include the road centerline station perpendicular to the structure.
Something like this:
SS-MH #4
Sta. 10+00
=Road Sta. xx+xx

I'm trying to create a custom expression in a structure table that will list the "size" of the structure, wheter it be a circular or rectangular structure. My column simply states size and I want it to label 5' for a circular or 4'x4' for a rectangular (or whatever the specific sizes are). The thought was to create an IF function, but Structure Shape was not available to use in expressions (among other problems). Short of using the description field (tedious) as a workaround?
In this example - CB-104 is a rectangular structure and CB-106 is a circular. I'd like the CB-104 size to read 4'x4'.

I have a surface and a pipe network. I am trying to print out a picture of these two objects rendered for the engineer to see. I have the surface as a rendered surface, but the pipe network is displaying under the surface (so it is invisible) and I was wondering if there was a way to have the pipe network display "thru" the surface so the engineer can see the pipe network with all the pipes drawn underneath the surface. Is this possible?

We are in the process of updating our pipe network structure label styles. The styles are displaying the inverts in a random order (Please see caption) & we'd like to show the inverts in descending order from highest pipe as first text string & lowest pipe as bottom text string. Is there a way to globally tell civil 3d to always use a descending invert order? Only fix we've found is to disconnect & reconnect the parts in order to adjust invert order.

I'm working with a structure profile label style and it seems like the only way to anchor the position of the label is based on offsets from the structure itself... Any way to position the label based on the top of the profile view, so that I could make all of my labels horizontally aligned above the profile view?
