AutoCAD Civil 3D :: How To Label Spanning Pressure Pipes
Dec 13, 2013How do I label spanning pressure pipes? I can do it in a pipe network, but not a pressure pipe network.

View 1 RepliesI've been able to publish and then import valves, flange adaptors etc. with no problem, but if I create a flanged (metric) pipe using the Content Catalog Editor and then draw the pipe in C3D it shows blank ends, no flanges. I've split the pipe in the drawing to see if that forces flanges to appear, but nothing.
Do I need to create the flanges seperately and then add them to the end of pipes?
I'm using Civil 3D 2013
I am trying to create a pressure pipe network (right now I have 2 pipes) and have it follow a surface. When I click to follow surface it lowers the vertices but does not add any additional vertices to make the entire pipe network 5' below surface. My pipe lengths are set to 18' and the surface I want to use is set in my network properties.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am wanting to use pressure pipes for force main. If you do how do you add an air release manhole? I tried to use an appurtenance part as an air release manhole. If I set the plan display to use a block it skews the block. For the appurtenance part I do not see that the pipe inverts are available for the pipe label. I thought pressure pipes would be for water mains and force mains. So, I am wondering what others do for Force main Pipes?

View 5 Replies View Relatedwhy I can't label certain pipes/structures? I can select the pipe or structure, rt click, add label and I get nothing. The layer is on cause I can see other labels. I also get the same result when I go to annotation, pipe label. This only happenes to certain pipes or structure, others in the same network label fine.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI received some dwg files to show existing utilities from a local municipality. I thought the files would come as shp files, but they are dwg files. The drawings/dwg files show the layout of pipes, but the pipes are polylines. The polylines have data attached to them. The properties show material, size, length, slope, etc. I am trying to label the pipes/polylines and I can't figure out how to get the information from the polylines.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIn the case of a pipe network structure, where one pipe is circular (say 60") and the other pipe is box (say 5'x4'), how can you get the "connected pipes" label to reflect [size in feet X size in feet] for the box pipe and [size in inches] for the circular pipe?
I don't see how you can conditionally affect a portion of the "connected pipes" label since it's one label object.
I have pipe crossings shown in my profile. Only crossings (NO PROJECTIONS). So many elipises. I want to label them. Setting the label style at the pipe network does not work (will not override whatever label style was assigned at the pipe creation). I have accepted this (although it sucks).
Now, to get around it, I go Pipe>Add Label>Add Pipe Network Label. Label type is "Entire Network Profile". When I do this, it labels not only the crossings but all projections. So I have a million labels chilling out in space, where I have no crossing.
A way to change the display order of pipes connected to the structure in a structure label? (plan and profile) Say you have a 10", 6" and 12" pipe connected to a structure, modeled in that order, so label would place them 10, 6, 12. we would like the label to display the order as 6,10, then 12 without having to drag the pipes off and then having to re-input inverts.

How can I do it?
Selecting a pipe and using add label doesn't work, it works in plan but not in profile.
i am using autocad civil 3d 2013 for modelling water pipes ,unfortauntley it can't do hydraulic calculation and if you do this calculation in any other program you won't be able to visual this information in section view ,
i wonder if autocad map 3d can do this in any way
Having problems with the spanning pipe labels in profile. Sometimes it works fine and others not at all. It will let me pick the two structures at each end and highlights the pipes, but then it will not let me pick the pipe to place the label on.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI was looking at placing pipe information into a Profile Band. I see that I can include the following properties in a pipe label in the profile band:
<[Total Slope Across Span(FP|P2|RN|AP|GC|UN|Sn|OF)]>
<[Number of Pipes in Span(GC|UN|Sn)]>
<[Drop Across Span(Um|P2|RN|AP|GC|UN|Sn|OF)]>
Only problem is they don't actually give me the information of a spanning pipe, only a single pipe. I see no way of choosing which pipes will be spanned. Am i missing something in the creation of the profile band that allows me to choose the spanning pipes or is this broken?
I notice issues using spanning pipe labels for the first time recently after having used them for years. The slope calculated by the spanning pipe label is completely wrong. I've attached a picture in which Labeled two pipes connected by a null structure. The two labels on the bottom are the pipes labeled individually at 3.53% and 3.34%. When labeling them as a spanning pipe, if I choose the downstream pipe first and them the upstream pipe it shows me a slope of 0.48%. If I choose the upstream pipe first, then it gives me 2.88%. Either way it's wrong.
As I was writing this I decided to check and see if the pipes were flowing the same direction (Start to End or End to Start). Turns out they weren't. After flipping one of the pipes around so that they both are laid out in the same direction (Start to End from Upstream to Downstream) the label now reads 3.37%, which is correct.
Seems like an the label should honor the flow direction of the pipe, no matter if they have been laid out in opposite directions or not.
The label associated to a grading point when is moved when is moved changes its size automatically and a leader appears. After this happen no control over the grading point and its associate label. refer to the image below.
View 1 Replies View RelatedC3D 2013. We have profile line labels, some of which get manually edited (for example, change the "<[Tangent grade(FP|P2|RN|AP|GC|UN|SD|OF)]>" to a static number such as 0.29%).
However, if you CTRL+Click and select one of these labels and change the style of that one label, then the manual edits are lost and the label reverts back to the default string.
Is there any way to turn this behavior off?
Is there a way to "Edit Label Text" in a Parcel area label? Similar to the way you can edit it in other styles.

I am modelling a sewer pipe network in SSA. At some stages we use varies pipe materials with different wall thicknesses. So I want to know how can I assign inner diameter of pipes in SSA so I just deduct wall thickness from pipe diameter and then assign it to the pipe. Or is there any possibility to make a pipe list with specific properties like part builder in civil3d?

What the best way to draw multiple parallel pipes that cross a corridor. In my example I have a track with 4 pipes crossing the track corridor on slightly different alignments (from perpendicular to skewed). I have drawn the pipes on as individual pipes under the same network.
However I cannot get them all to display on the profile. I have tried "Draw Parts in Profile" but it seems to bring up only 1 pipe. managing multiple pipes.
I have two pipe networks and two profile views, one for storm and another for sanitary. I would like to show the crossing pipes on each of the profile views. When I select the profile view, add a pipe and change the style to crossing the style is change to crossing on the other profile view (ex. on sanitary profile view I set storm pipe 3 to crossing style, on the storm profile pipe 3 changes to crossing style and does not display). Isn't there a way to display the styles for pipes different in each profile view?

View 2 Replies View RelatedHow to do profiles in Civil3D and I have created a profile from the surface utilizing a miscellaneous alignment. I have also taken one 12"RCP and made it part of a network along with the catch basin and manhole at its start and end. When I click "draw parts in profile" it places both structures and the pipe, but in reality only a portion of the pipe crosses the alignment. I'd like to only display portions of pipes that cross the alignment at a fixed width form that alignment, say 2' to each side of it.
