AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Way To Create Parts List For HDPE Pipes
Sep 19, 2012Any way to create a parts list for HDPE pipes where instead of a manhole connecting different pipe sections will run continuously with coupling and elbows and it will connect to other pipe segments using wyes. Is this possible? The pipe should be able to bend either horizontally or vertically like any HDPE pipe. Any HDPE library?
My other question is once I have the layout of the pipe is it possible to calculate the trench excavation and backfilling?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Pressure Network Catalog And Parts List
Jun 11, 2013We recently installed C3D2013. We were using our profile from 2012. When we tried to set the Pressure Network Catalog and then edit the Standard Parts List, we get a message that it references a catalog that can't be found. I have seen this on other posts.
I changed the profile to the out-of-the box profile, and now it will let me edit the Standard Parts List. When I drag the parts list in the _AutoCAD Civil 3D (Imperial) NCS into my original drawing, it loses the material.
What element of the profile allows it to set the Pressure Network Catalog and have it work? Does the Parts List in the template play any role in the interactivity between the Catalog and the Parts List?
Also, if I copy the Pressure Network Catalog folder from the C drive to a network drive, I again get the message that it references a catalog that can't be found. Can the catalog not be moved?

May 3, 2013I'm trying to insert a parts list into an assembly drawing but whenever I do all of the descriptive fields (format, zone, item, part number, description, etc, etc) are all in Russian. I've looked on the wiki and it notes that some of this is expected, I just don't think it's correct that all of the above are in a different language.

Apr 17, 2013I've been able to publish and then import valves, flange adaptors etc. with no problem, but if I create a flanged (metric) pipe using the Content Catalog Editor and then draw the pipe in C3D it shows blank ends, no flanges. I've split the pipe in the drawing to see if that forces flanges to appear, but nothing.
Do I need to create the flanges seperately and then add them to the end of pipes?
I'm using Civil 3D 2013

When I click to follow surface it lowers the vertices but does not add any additional vertices to make the entire pipe network 5' below surface. My pipe lengths are set to 18' and the surface I want to use is set in my network properties.

Aug 27, 2013I am wanting to use pressure pipes for force main. If you do how do you add an air release manhole? I tried to use an appurtenance part as an air release manhole. If I set the plan display to use a block it skews the block. For the appurtenance part I do not see that the pipe inverts are available for the pipe label. I thought pressure pipes would be for water mains and force mains. So, I am wondering what others do for Force main Pipes?

I have a pipe size shown as 15" that is incorrect, it should read and label the pipe as 16" (see attached image). I found that for DIP the wall thicknesses for pipes was way greater than anything commercially available; and that for PVC the wall thicknesses were way thinner than what's commercially available.
Are most client's modifying these lists to conform to pipe specifications or ignoring these discrepancies?

Apr 26, 2012I want to create some custom parts, but before I can even get that far, every time I create a new pipe it doesn't work in cad. I want PVC at the end of the day, but I tried to create 3" ductile iron with all the same options as the other pipes in the catalog and it won't draw in CAD. It will let me add the pipe size to the parts list and I can select it when I try to draw the pipe, but when I click in the drawing it goes to 0,0 and won't add any pipes to the drawing.

Apr 19, 2013I've got a weird problem with pipes in 2014. When I edit a pipe (right-click Pipe Properties) and make a change, when I press OK or Apply, the pipe SIZE changes? It's still listed as a 300mm PVC, but it's being represented as a 410mm? Look at the attached image. The storm (green) shoes a 300mm pipe and 375. The 375 is smaller? The pipe style (as you can see int he image, is set to display the inside pipe walls.
Nothing is unique here about the pipe sizes, this is a stock pipe catalog. But the size doesn't really change, only how the pipe is drawn in the profile. I've never seen something like this before. It measures .418m instead of .3m.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Raw description Not Within Description Key
Oct 21, 2011we are updating fron LDD 2004 to Civil 3D 2012 needles to say it a huge change. I've got my template almost done I'm just having one problem. With LDD any point that came in with a raw descripitoin not within the description key it would be placed in the current layer with point number, descripton and elevation. How do I make that happen with Civil3D do I have to change my default lable settings? When I import points with a raw description not within my description key it places the point on Layer 0 and only shows the node no point number.

Mar 30, 2012On the main sheet of my drawing I have the overall Parts List. Shows almost all parts except for the few that we don't want to list. On the second sheet I inserted a Parts List to show only parts that are shown in a detail on that page, made the rest non-visible.
On the main sheet there is an item (#13) that has a QTY of 3. Two of those Three are optional parts. What I'm trying to do is insert a custom part into the Parts List, give it an item number of 13A and put in the description "OPTIONAL", then do an Override in the balloon to show 13A.
I get it in the Parts List, Apply it, close it, save the drawing. Looking at the Parts List, item #13A is there, but item #14 is gone. I go back into the Parts List and 13A is there and there's a blue box around the item # and the description. I uncheck Static Value and number 14 shows up (item # and the description).
Then I go over to sheet two, open that Parts List and it lists 13A at the bottom with all the info I added in sheet one and it's non-visible. Go back to sheet one, open the Parts List and there is no 13A to be found.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Virtual Parts Weight Total BOM And Parts List
Aug 7, 2013I was using virtual parts to add nuts and bolts to a drawing in 2013
I can make a VP bolt in the assembly, no problem, set it's size, weight, etc.
In the VP itself, there is no option for number of bolts I want it to emulate. For arguement's sake the weight was 1 pound per bolt (they are big bolts).
I can go into the BOM and say quantity 60, hit done and save the assembly.
If i open the drawing, the parts lists shows 60lbs for the 60 bolts total - which it should when summing the weight.
The problem is the BOM/assembly. If the weight of my assembly (without bolts) is 10,000lbs, the assembly sees the VP weighing 1lb and says the total weight is 10,001 lbs. Am i going to have to pattern a fake part to get this to work right? Shouldn't the total weight take into account the quantity set in the Bom??

Dec 9, 2013Is there a way to display the density of materials that are assigned to varius parts in the parts list on a drawing? I don't need the mass of the parts I just need the material density to show up next to their respective parts.
For example, if I have a part with [steel mild] material assinged to it (no matter the size) I need a column in the BOM on the drawing to show: 490.684 lbs/ft^3. "Worry when there's something to worry about."
AutoCAD Inventor :: Assemblies Showing In Parts Only Parts List
Jul 10, 2012I have an assembly with a lot of purchased parts. I need to create a buy out list for purchasing. I've done this many times in the past and have a template set up for this purpose.
So now the problem, In this assembly, I have subassemblies showing up on my parts only parts list.
One of the subassemblies cinsists of two purchased parts. Both parts are set to purchased in the Bill of materials. If I do a parts only list on this assembly, it works as expected, showing two purchased parts. However, if I put that assembly into a higher level assembly, A parts only parts list shows the assembly instead of the individual parts.

Been working over an idw MANY times due to project lag.Today I opened it up and tried adding balloons to an already ballooned assembly.
The parts list has not changed, and is "structured".But, if I try adding balloons, they tag each part, not the entire assembly.
Also, I verified this by trying to add another parts list, which defaults to "parts only".
I can't show my data set, b/c it's HUGE, plus it's proprietary.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Parts Not Selecting For Parts List
Sep 22, 2011I have a .idw that I'm trying to make a parts list on. I select parts list and highlight everything. There are two screws that are not showing up on the parts list. I cannot select them manually either. It's acting like they are not there. Even if I do a complete parts list (adding the assemblies parts into one big list), they still don't show up.
How can I select these parts? What is wrong with them that they do not show up in the parts list?
