I have a surveyor requesting that we convert our Autocad 2012 Civil 3D files to Autocad 2004 so they can use them to produce as-built drawings. Is that possible? The drawings include profiles and cross sections.

Now the contract manufacturer wants a DXF-AAMA format, which is the file format developed by the American Apparel Manufacturers Association in an attempt to solve the difficulties of using DXF files when creating clothing/apparel. How can I do this? I have already created a prototype and printed the fabric/pattern using the AI file (this was done in NY), but the contract manufacturer I am using seems to want this DXF file in the AAMA format.

View 8 Replies View RelatedWhile working on a drawing today I realized that when I modified dimension styles ... arrow size, text size, spacing, etc. , upon closing the modify style window the changes I'd made automatically took effect on the screen. In other words I did not have to use the dimension update command to make the changes appear in dimensions already in the drawing. All the dimensions changed to show the changes automatically. I'm pretty sure I haven't seen this before.
I went to another drawing and the updates did not automatically occur. I inserted part of the old drawing into the current drawing and made dimension style changes again. The changes updated automatically in the new content but not on the content inserted from the old drawing.

When I enter the Hatch command I get the following message.

Then the program closest by itself.
I'm using autocad LT 2010 and need to send the drawings to someone using autocad 2004, how do i save the drawing so they can open and print with 2004. i was told that theres an option under save as but its not coming up on my version.

I am doing some tooling drawings for my company. I am using AutoCad LT 2008. When I email my drawings, I have to convert them to Autocad 2004 so the tooling company can open the drawings. They then convert it to Mega Cad 4.8 to import it into their system. My problem is that any text in my drawings does not show up for them in either programs. I have tried several different fonts, but nothing works. This is causing time consuming problems for both of us.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I right click on a viewport I no longer get the menu that includes the lock/unlock choice, or anything else. I can select the viewport but I have no control over it. Also when I select objects the layer information is not displayed. Until today I did not have this problem. I'm thinking it might be a settings issue, because if I open this file up on another computer I can control viewport as usual. The only think I can think of that I may have done different is I was experimenting with rotation of view ports.

There will be 3 buttons. One for .XX, one .XXX, one .XXXX precision edit of an existing dimension. IOW, if I have a 2 place precision dimension and wish it to be 4 place, I'll click the '.XXXX button' then click the dimension and it will change to 4 place. In addition, I'd like for it to update immediately for multiple dimension picks if possible just like 'match properties'.
I run Autodesk Land Desktop 2004 on Vista, it works, kind of.
I get this error message when I open the program: "Error writing the acamap.sys file"
When I say OK to the message, the program starts working.
At the end when i close the program i get this message: " Autocad application has stopped working"
The next message after this is: " Download updates for 2004"
Any way to avoid these annoying messages?
Unable to erase, cut or delete the block symbols or do the same to selected tools in template.

I just brought an old project into 2012. We separate or drawing versions by year so the pathing has changed a little. I use the Data Shortcut Editor to change all the paths. However. None of the references shows in the drawing.
We also save Drefs by project so the Working Folder is set to the Project Number and the Shortcuts Folder is the to _Shortcuts. I'm attaching a screen shot of my Data Shortcuts from the Prospector and what the Data Shortcut Editor shows for pathing.

We are surveyors working in Civil 3D 2013. We sometimes need to export drawings back to previous versions for architects. This can produce unpredictable results. It was suggested to use the command PROXYGRAPHICS, change it to 1, and then export to a previous version. This worked on some drawings.
Yesterday, however, I tried this method and the architect sent me back a PDF saying this is what it looked like in model space when he opened it.

What I have is a nice production drawing, that has NEVER even been opened in C3D2013. I JUST finished adding labels for some new pipes and structures that are in an Xref. I saved the drawing and closed it to work on a different project while plotting. In SSM, I select the sheets to Publish, the first 4 plot without issue, then I get a CER without a Fatal Error...I can still work on the nbow current drawing...it appears that SSM crashed while loading the aforementioned sheet I had been working on.I close everything down, restart C3D2012, open the same drawing I had just labeled, says it needs to be recovered, so I let it finish loading (I've found that stopping the load will almost always cause C3D to hang indefinitely), close that drawing, then run recover, finds 2 errors, allow to fix, am greeted with the message box "This drawing has been saved by a newer version of C3D. All C3D commands are disabled in this drawing."
Wait a dang minute, SSM crashes and somehow (the save time is still the same as when i manually saved it in 2012) saves it as a C3D2013 file...even though it is still opening as a 2010dwg format file? Opening the file in Notepad even shows it was last saved in 2012.
i completeley uninstalled civil 3d 2011 off my laptop and trying to download either 2012 or 2013 but it wont give me an option to download either...I get the product keys but nothing else

My parcel boundary now appears as if it were a polyline with linetype generation is enabled, whereas in previous versions, linetype generation would reset at each vertex. How do I change the way my parcel segments display in version 14?
