Paint Shop Pro :: Move Work Files / Folders Out Of My Documents
Aug 21, 2013Since My Documents is where I put all my *useful* files/folders, I like to keep it clean and organized. I don't want it cluttered up with folders that programs are using to store "work" files, as is the case with PSP. I went to preferences and laboriously changed ALL File Locations to the user/my-name/appdata/...etc. area. But when I saved, exited and reloaded PSP, those folders were created again. Checking the File Locations in preferences again showed that the appdata ones I had put in were still the top (primary) folder option, but the ones directing the files to "documents" had been created again as the third entry in each category.
How can I keep these folders/files OUT of My Documents?

Second, I am so use to previewing font styles by simply highlighting my text and then scrolling through the fonts drop down menu with version 10. Aug 8, 2012I have a bunch of WMF files I'm trying to open at a large size and then concert to PNG with a recorded script batch but I'm not quite sure how to get a script to do the entire sequence. When I open each graphic it brings up the Meta Picture Import screen. I need them to be re-sized to about 2000 pixels wide. (They can all be this size for ease of import.) I then need them all saved as PNGs.
I can record a script to to save them but I'm unsure how to get it to open and re-size first them THEN do the save so I can run it as a batch on the folder. Can I script the entire process?

Nov 16, 2011How do I convert an HDR file into a tiff file. I see no opportunity to save as a different type of file from one of the 6 default styles. Also how do you print one of the defaults, there seems to be no right clicks in the HDR adjustments panel.

Sep 14, 2012I currently have X4 Ultimate installed with KPT Effects & Nik Color Effex Pro 3. I now also have X5 Ultimate installed. Now X5 came with the same Nik Color Effex but I haven't installed it yet.Does KPT Effects from X4 will work in X5? Can I copy the folder from X4 into X5? (Same question pertains to the NIk Color Effex. Useful to install it again when it's already intalled to get it working in X5.)
I thought about just trying to point X5 to the X4 plugin folder but after just trying that with something else, I'm a little leary. I tried to point X5 to the Photoshop CS6 folder where AlienSkin Eye Candy 6 installed. But right after doing that and re-starting PSP, the startup box hung. I used task manager to stop it but the program still opened anyway. I knew that wasn't right, so I removed the link to that folder and X5 opened normally again. The newest installer for Eye Candy 6 won't let me do a custom install. So, how to get the filter working in X5.
Anyway, my main question is if I can get the KPT effects from X4 working in X5 and if so what I need to do.

Sep 20, 2011A user in Flash gets a picture, prepared with the inside of the box blank. The user selects a jpg color picture and fills the box. This is done by creating a point zone. (1) a way for flash to be texturized or painted.
No 1 is the box after is filled by the user. That is now.
No2 is the image, if I make the background blank as well as the inside.
No3 Is the image I need (nothing around it)
No 4 Is the background
No 5 Is if I use picture No1 (as I am doing now)
No6 Is if I use picture No2 (blanking the surrounding area as well the inside of the box)
No 7 Is I what I want.
Question: How do I convert No1 without the area around to look like and be like No3 as a symbol ? By converting the image to a symbol or an Icon, then how can this be accomplished?

The only part that shows is the "Enhance Color Balance" box, the words "purple" and "green" just above, and the preview arrow (which does nothing) and "preview on image". Preview on image is checked and it does show changes but I am unable to uncheck it. Nothing else shows. Nothing I have tried has worked, including restarting the computer.

Jan 22, 2013I'm running PaintShop Pro X5 15.1.0.10 on Windows 8 (64-bit). I just tried to create a drop shadow, possibly for the first time since I upgraded from X4, and it just doesn't work. I mean nothing happens.
I added a white border, as usual, and then tried to create my drop shadow. I tried it with the default settings, and I tried it with some random settings. As I said, nothing whatsoever happened.
Inner bevel and buttonize work just fine. (I haven't tried cutout.) Chisel also doesn't seem to work; in fact, it seems to come and go. It's the same with outer bevel: it isn't always available.
I'm not a novice when it comes to PaintShop Pro. I've been using it since it was shareware. I've certainly done drop shadows many times.
I'm completely baffled. Other than uninstalling and re-installing, I can't think what to do.

I am slowly learning some of the photo editing features but would like imput on the best workflow for "fixing" digital photos. I am aware that all digital photos need some sharpening and some noise removal. My question is this -- should the sharpening and noise removal be after other adjustments (brightness, clarify etc.) or should those come first? I should mention that I have been shooting all pictures in RAW.
