Some times I note the lack of a top warning-icon placed on top of prospector folder.
The idea is, for example, that in case I had a corridor out of date I dont see this "situation" until I navigate up to the corridors/corridor item, so I can forget easily the rebuild need. The posibility to see this icon near the name of my drawing should be very useful.

I have my Transmittal settings file format set to: AutoCAD 2007 Drawing Format with Exploded AEC Objects, but the E-Transmit will not explode the AEC objects in attached Xrefs. I can't find any setting that would allow this or prevent this. It worked fine in C3D 2012, but it's not working in 2013.

In PSE12 how does one display the icons under the event tab in a categorized tree structure?
In my PSE10 catalog, I have a highly structured event tag tree for 30,000 pictures and videos covering 15 years. This tree has annual main categories and then numerous events in 2nd level subcategories under each year. Below that are tags for which camera/person took the picture as well as other tags for videos, panorama-segments etc. Altogether there are probably several hundred or more subcategories. After importing the catalog into PSE 12 all of these subcategories show up in the top level display causing massive duplication that scrolls for 12 or more screens.
The PSE12 event tab is useless if it can only display every subcategory all at once in a flattened format. I also do not see any way to move these subcategories out of the events tag area and into the keyword tag area to eliminate clutter.

In addition I have always an empty and irritating empty "drawing1" ....
I created a miscellaneous alignment and everything came out exactly how I wanted it to show. But I do not see this alignment in my prospector tab. I see the other centerline alignments, but when I click on Miscellaneous Alignments I do not see my alignment. It does not even have a plus box to expand. I have saved my drawing a couple times and still nothing.
I even changed it from miscellaneous to offset just to see if that had any relation to the issue, but it still does not come up in the prospector tab.
I encounter problems to organize my work. I don't understand some actual C3D behaviors. Every time I open C3D I have :
- An empty drawing1 I always have to delete .... ???????????
- Automatic last survey working folder open. Ok, it is well.
- All the drawing templates I need, Ok . it is well.
I have to open manually my drawing / drawings. In case I have to open more than 1 file (and they have to be placed at the same folder....), C3D open all of them (regardless of whether it be neccesary....) . So I have to wait and see how flies fly ..It seems that Vault can be a solution. Basic Vault can't be used inside prospector (This is what C3D says...)
Imagine I'm working with 3 or 4 projects. Every time I have to work with one of them, have I to do a stupid work (open and set folders) that can be produce errors and problems ? I have to create a VBA dialog to make this work.....
i created a profile by layout in an existing profile view and it will not show up in prospector view. I also cannot turn the profile off in the profile view because it's not in the profile list when i go to profile view properties. I have multiple profiles, profile views, alignments etc. I cannot find it anywhere in toolspace, but i can select in model space and edit.

I was wondering what is the difference between importing points under the Prospector tab versus importing points under the Suvey tab? And how either of the two methods relate to using Data Shortcut?
I would like to create a survey topo drawing that contains points and surface information which other Design drawings that are attached to the Data Shortcut project can access but not be able to make any changes to the original points and existing surface information.
I have an existing drawing that I have picked cogo points for survey layout about 3 weeks ago. Now when I open the drawing the points show up on the screen, but they are not in the prospector. Where did they go? What do I need to do to get them back in the prospector?

We have a template that opens with extra Prospector items. For example, we have point groups Design Points, Design Points.1, Design Points.2, etc etc. See attached image. We have gone into the template and deleted all of the duplicate items.
When we use the template, it creates all of these duplicate things again and the template has the items again.how to permanently remove these items?
After working in civil 3d for a while they will disappear. have to close toolspace and open again. have sp1 installed already.
See picture for detail. as you can see only toolbox is left. and when i select toolbox from general menu. the whole toolspace will shut down.
I dragged a surface style from another drawing into the drawing I am having issues with. The Issue is that after inserting the style the Prospector and Settings are not expandable. The Prospector check box is grayed out and there are dots in front of the Settings tab.
Basically I can't expand either the Prospector or the Setting to edit surfaces, alignments, styles, etc.
I have a drawing that contains an alignment and 2 profiles (existing and proposed). Call this File A.
I created data shortcuts for these 3 objects and reference them in many drawings.
Last week File A was having some problems, it was inexplicably large and seemed to have some corruption I couldn't fix. So I created a new drawing, call it File B, and promoted the alignment and profiles into it.
I used Data Shortcut Editor to point the data shortcuts to File B. In drawings that already referenced these objects they look like the they are coming through just fine.
The problem is that I can't see the profiles listed in the Data Shortcuts section of prospector. The shortcuts folder selected is correct, the xml file is there, it points to File B. The alignment is listed and I can create that reference in a new drawing. I also can't find anything wrong with File B.
When a file has many surfaces, gradings and sites manually delete them is slow ¿is there a method to select multiple sites, surfaces and gradings on prospector and delete them all at once and not one by one?
View 1 Replies View RelatedEventually after I copy and paste with the clipboard enough times within one drawing, the ability goes away and I can no longer copy and past one item from one drawing to a separate drawing. I need to use the clipboard function because that is the only way of getting an item from one drawing to another.
I have download a clear clipboard function but it doesn't work. Closing CAD and restarting does not reinstate the function.

But it seems that the onselect event only catches selection of drawing views or balloon, annotation etc, but not the component inside the drawing view is this intentional or a bug?
The reason i need to catch this is to make a new context menu action, so i need the selected item. I know i can use SelectionSet, but i want to be able to debug my application as an external application connecting to the running instance before i build it into an addin (saves me a lot of inventor restarts..) And Selection Set does not seem to work when i use it inside an event handler in an external application...
How do you copy a non-block item from one drawing to another drawing. With both drawings open, the two methods I've used are the Edit>Copy in drawing 1 and Edit>Paste in drawing or Right mouse button (drop down menu)> Copy in drawing 1 and Right mouse button> Paste in drawing 2. Sometimes one or both methods work and at other times neither works.
Is there another copy method or am I doing something incorrectly?
In my plug-in I have some datagridview to show alignment data of all alignments in drawing.
I have a button called (regen) to update data in these datagridviews. I read again database drawing and re-source again datagridview. (method "upload_all")

But I don´t understand almost.
I only want to execute method "upload_all" if some alignment is modified in the drawing.
Also, I would like to do it if some alignment is just created or deleted.

I am making a drawing in which I have an assembly of multiple parts and one subassembly. I already have my bill of materials on the drawing also. Can I now show details of each of the parts by calling them out by their item number on the BOM? I realize that I could simply insert another base view of the individual part, but I would rather they be pulled directly by their item number on the BOM. This would be ideal so that the view could automatically be labeled "item 1.1" or "detail 1.1" instead of manually having to insert that text.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAt my company, we do a large amount of work with sheet metal parts and assemblies. On our drawings, we like to do "detail" views of the flat patterns of each part of the assembly. Basically, how we do it now is insert a base view of the assembly and the BOM onto the first sheet and then on separate sheets, we place base views of the flat patterns for each of the components that will be cut on our cnc plasma table. We use the item number to denote which part it is in the assembly. Is there any way to pull the item number from the assembly BOM and use it as a parameter that can be inserted into the view label? Right now, it's a nightmare if the assembly BOM is modified because we have to go back in to each view label and manually change the item number.

However, we can modify alignment data from Panorama palette (geometry editor) and I would like to know if there are any event to catch it after modify data.

I'm getting several messages saying "value on wrong side of alignment" when I rebuild my corridor. I've checked the two target alignments that I'm using and they are on the correct side.

Running C3d 2012 here, but haven't used prior versions. I'm using fieldbooks to import survey data. If there is an error of some kind and I "Re-import event" for the fieldbook, then the occupied points from the field book are deleted out of the survey database and I get the resulting error of "point invalid" during the import. My fix is to go into my control drawing and import the control points from the drawing into the survey database then run the "re-import" again.
