How do you copy a non-block item from one drawing to another drawing. With both drawings open, the two methods I've used are the Edit>Copy in drawing 1 and Edit>Paste in drawing or Right mouse button (drop down menu)> Copy in drawing 1 and Right mouse button> Paste in drawing 2. Sometimes one or both methods work and at other times neither works.
Is there another copy method or am I doing something incorrectly?
Eventually after I copy and paste with the clipboard enough times within one drawing, the ability goes away and I can no longer copy and past one item from one drawing to a separate drawing. I need to use the clipboard function because that is the only way of getting an item from one drawing to another.
I have download a clear clipboard function but it doesn't work. Closing CAD and restarting does not reinstate the function.
I have AutoCAD 2013. I am trying to paste a block from another drawing to the one I am working on but when I paste the block, the color is different than what it should be. The drawing that I am trying to paste it on was already created for me.

I have had this issue in 2013 and now after downloadign 2014 the same problem has come up. Drawing is fine other than every so often after you copy a group of items and try to paste it as a block it thinks for about 10-15 seconds then when you are prompted to enter a base point it doesnt show up. I can however select items, copy, and paste as long as it is not a block. I have tried to copy and paste a block that consists of just two polylines so I know it is not a size issue. To add more confusion if I shut down my computer and restart open the same file and try to copy and paste the same item as a block it will allow me to do it once and then it wont work again. I have attached a screenshot of the command history while trying to paste as block. I am not sure why it substitued all of these items? I dont need to shut down and restart everytime I need a new block inserted.

1- crane model or base
2- crane boom has different lengths and needs to rotate at pivot point
3- crane jib has different length and offsets from the crane boom
How to do this in one block or do you need to have 3 seperate blocks and just piece together.
We have blocks of process valves. The valve body in layer "valve" and the ports in layer "pipe" The Lower port of the valve is for "fluid A", the upper port for "fluid B".
Now we want to dynamically choose the layers for both the lower port and (a different layer for) the upper port. Dynamically because the same valve can be used twice with completely different fluids / layers. Is there an attribute or dynamic parameter to do this?

when i use the ctrol+copy command, I get the "copy to clipboard failed". This has only started since I upgraded to AutoCAD2012.
Add a new menu item "Edit->Copy Flattened" which allows one to copy the selection from ALL the visible layers, instead of just the currently selected layer.

Can I now show details of each of the parts by calling them out by their item number on the BOM? I realize that I could simply insert another base view of the individual part, but I would rather they be pulled directly by their item number on the BOM. This would be ideal so that the view could automatically be labeled "item 1.1" or "detail 1.1" instead of manually having to insert that text.

The idea is, for example, that in case I had a corridor out of date I dont see this "situation" until I navigate up to the corridors/corridor item, so I can forget easily the rebuild need. The posibility to see this icon near the name of my drawing should be very useful.

At my company, we do a large amount of work with sheet metal parts and assemblies. On our drawings, we like to do "detail" views of the flat patterns of each part of the assembly. Basically, how we do it now is insert a base view of the assembly and the BOM onto the first sheet and then on separate sheets, we place base views of the flat patterns for each of the components that will be cut on our cnc plasma table. We use the item number to denote which part it is in the assembly. Is there any way to pull the item number from the assembly BOM and use it as a parameter that can be inserted into the view label? Right now, it's a nightmare if the assembly BOM is modified because we have to go back in to each view label and manually change the item number.

It also sets view sizes etc. I have lots of master drawings, which are reused when sizes etc change for a contract, which i would like to transfer to this new template. Drawing Resource Transfer Wizard does not offer this function.
I could get all drawings in a folder copied to specific sheet size on the master template.As the template will probably be developed further in the future I'm very loathed to do this take manually.
My drawing- block is a little bit complicated, it contains few actions and parameters and everytime i open block editor to add, or to modify some action I can't see my drawing because actions grips and parameters grips obscure my drawing. I tried to refresh layout but it doesn't work.

When I copy and from his drawing onto my clipboard and paste it into mine it is waaaayyyy small.
The scale his drawing says it is drawn in is 1:1
Mine is 1/4"=1'-0"
When I xreffed it into my drawing it did the same thing. What do I do?
I have an X centered as my insertion point.
When I stretch the dynamic block for a larger area the X stretches but into the next single box but not centered within the double space.
how to get the X to be centered in the box when it is enlarged to a double or triple size?
I have a user that is having a problem with two particular drawings within AutoCAD.
drawing 1 is 4MB
drawing 2 is 17MB
I believe he is attempting to copy some data from drawing 2 to drawing 1.

How to copy a dynamic block with all attributes inside a drawing.
I want to programmatically copy a block which is already placed and setup in drawing. Basically I wanna imitate copy with base point command... Copied block must look the same as original block (same attributes, same visibility state, same layer, same text etc)
As I understand that involves Deep Cloning and creating a new database but I really don't know where to start?
im looking for a way to copy attributes from one block to another (even if the new block doesn't contain any attributes) , maybe a lisp if its not already one of the commands in autocad.

However, I have a few drawings that I want to have the same fields in so I try to copy and paste the title block in the one drawing into the other but when I do this is pastes the title block from the template and not the one that I edited in the other drawings and copy/pasted.

It works for a bit then out of the blue, it will give me that error after there's about 16 copy/pastes.

I have been using copy paste with base point on block from drawing to drawing but sometimes the block insert but it is not showing. I go to insert block is there but does not show in the drawing. Then tried to purge it and it does not let me because it is in the drawing but I can find it any where. Then I tried to do the insert block look for the block and inserted as a block and the same result.
