After working in civil 3d for a while they will disappear. have to close toolspace and open again. have sp1 installed already.
See picture for detail. as you can see only toolbox is left. and when i select toolbox from general menu. the whole toolspace will shut down.
I dragged a surface style from another drawing into the drawing I am having issues with. The Issue is that after inserting the style the Prospector and Settings are not expandable. The Prospector check box is grayed out and there are dots in front of the Settings tab.
Basically I can't expand either the Prospector or the Setting to edit surfaces, alignments, styles, etc.
How to keep the snap mode settings from disappearing after certain commands. For example every time I use a lisp routine I have to go and reset my settings because they are no longer the way I had them set before I performed the lisp command.
View 9 Replies View RelatedThat opaque tool bar thing keeps disappearing. The one over on the right of the screen. Has the PAN command and a few other things. It just disappears at random. I'm sure there's a reason but I never notice any correlation as I'm busy when it happens.
I can switch to another drawing then switch back and it comes back. How do I easily turn it back on?

In addition I have always an empty and irritating empty "drawing1" ....
I created a miscellaneous alignment and everything came out exactly how I wanted it to show. But I do not see this alignment in my prospector tab. I see the other centerline alignments, but when I click on Miscellaneous Alignments I do not see my alignment. It does not even have a plus box to expand. I have saved my drawing a couple times and still nothing.
I even changed it from miscellaneous to offset just to see if that had any relation to the issue, but it still does not come up in the prospector tab.
I encounter problems to organize my work. I don't understand some actual C3D behaviors. Every time I open C3D I have :
- An empty drawing1 I always have to delete .... ???????????
- Automatic last survey working folder open. Ok, it is well.
- All the drawing templates I need, Ok . it is well.
I have to open manually my drawing / drawings. In case I have to open more than 1 file (and they have to be placed at the same folder....), C3D open all of them (regardless of whether it be neccesary....) . So I have to wait and see how flies fly ..It seems that Vault can be a solution. Basic Vault can't be used inside prospector (This is what C3D says...)
Imagine I'm working with 3 or 4 projects. Every time I have to work with one of them, have I to do a stupid work (open and set folders) that can be produce errors and problems ? I have to create a VBA dialog to make this work.....
i created a profile by layout in an existing profile view and it will not show up in prospector view. I also cannot turn the profile off in the profile view because it's not in the profile list when i go to profile view properties. I have multiple profiles, profile views, alignments etc. I cannot find it anywhere in toolspace, but i can select in model space and edit.

I was wondering what is the difference between importing points under the Prospector tab versus importing points under the Suvey tab? And how either of the two methods relate to using Data Shortcut?
I would like to create a survey topo drawing that contains points and surface information which other Design drawings that are attached to the Data Shortcut project can access but not be able to make any changes to the original points and existing surface information.
I have an existing drawing that I have picked cogo points for survey layout about 3 weeks ago. Now when I open the drawing the points show up on the screen, but they are not in the prospector. Where did they go? What do I need to do to get them back in the prospector?

We have a template that opens with extra Prospector items. For example, we have point groups Design Points, Design Points.1, Design Points.2, etc etc. See attached image. We have gone into the template and deleted all of the duplicate items.
When we use the template, it creates all of these duplicate things again and the template has the items again.how to permanently remove these items?
I have a drawing that contains an alignment and 2 profiles (existing and proposed). Call this File A.
I created data shortcuts for these 3 objects and reference them in many drawings.
Last week File A was having some problems, it was inexplicably large and seemed to have some corruption I couldn't fix. So I created a new drawing, call it File B, and promoted the alignment and profiles into it.
I used Data Shortcut Editor to point the data shortcuts to File B. In drawings that already referenced these objects they look like the they are coming through just fine.
The problem is that I can't see the profiles listed in the Data Shortcuts section of prospector. The shortcuts folder selected is correct, the xml file is there, it points to File B. The alignment is listed and I can create that reference in a new drawing. I also can't find anything wrong with File B.
Some times I note the lack of a top warning-icon placed on top of prospector folder.
The idea is, for example, that in case I had a corridor out of date I dont see this "situation" until I navigate up to the corridors/corridor item, so I can forget easily the rebuild need. The posibility to see this icon near the name of my drawing should be very useful.

When a file has many surfaces, gradings and sites manually delete them is slow ¿is there a method to select multiple sites, surfaces and gradings on prospector and delete them all at once and not one by one?

It is annotative mtext, my non-annotative mtext is still there but it is also masked.
If we have both the Xref and the File that it is referenced into open on one of the computers here and we reload, the Xref disappears. If we do an undo and close the Xref it reloads without problem.
I tried to replace the user profile from another PC that doesn’t have the problem, but it didn’t work. Is there a Registry setting that cause this behavior? All stations set to “Enabled with copy”

I created a .dwt template for general use with plenty of a various paper space layouts and such. I also created a bunch of styles for text, dimensions, multileaders, and tables for both paper and model space. After saving the template, those styles will still be there any time I open up a new drawing with that template. After working a bit and then saving the drawing, the styles will all be gone once I open it again.
Re-opening the original template always has all of the old styles still saved, so why would they disappear once I use that template on a drawing?
When I rebooted and reopen the program, it would not allow me to open my project giving me a scratch disk full error. I checked my hard drive and noticed I was down to around 6GB of free space which seemed odd given that I have a 55GB harddrive. So I deleted a bunch of huge multimedia files, freeing up an additional 6 or so GB. Again it ran fine for awhile, then froze. I checked again, down to 3GB. At this point photoshop was closed, so it should not be using any resources. I repeated the process - deleted 7GB of files, reopened photoshop and worked until it froze. When I rebooted, I was down to 2GB of free space. I have freed up a little more room now (6.71GB total) and I can open and work in photoshop. When I do, the harddrive space goes down to around 1-2GB, but when I close the program, it goes back up to 6.71 so clearly this is temporary usage. However, I'm afraid to actually use it because it might freeze again. That seems to be the problem - when it freezes, the scratch disk space that is occupied does not get freed up the way it would if I closed the program of my own accord.
It now has approximately 15-20GB of space that is eaten up with nothing and I want it back.
I am experiencing two problems. One is the tool icons in Photoshop are disappearing on the screen. I move the cursor and see nothing on my screen.
The second problem is at other times the proper tool icon and function is not showing up and working. I select for example the pen tool and the hand tool icon show up and the function works as the hand tool not the pen tool?
I am a landscape architect trying to xref in civil backgrounds. I have noticed twice now from two different civil firms that some of the civil symbols (dynamic blocks) are having visibility issues in paper space. No the viewport layers are not turned off or frozen. No the views weren't placed using the sheet set manager. Yes the blocks are created on layer zero and yes the associated layer is not off or frozen. I don't believe these blocks are annotative blocks. They appear, as expected, perfectly clear in model space. I just toggel over to paper space and "poof" they've disappeared.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently added a block ( by dragging & dropping from our dws block library file) to our shared Tool Palettes. The block showed up properly on everone's computer the day I added it. However each morning when we restart our computers the block is no longer on the palette and I have to redrag & drop it. I thought that prerhaps I needed to export the updated toolpalette, but when I go to the customize tool palettes dialog box and right click on the toolpalette I don't see the export or import options. It shows up in model space and everything else I use from my tool palette shows in both model and paperspace. I have all layers on, unfrozen, etc. They are not on my defpoints layer either. It just seems to be that particular block that is disappearing. Its the strangest thing. One day it worked just fine and the next it started doing this.

The block initially appears when I grab it and drag it across the model space. Then when I go to insert it in position on the drawing as per normal it then vanishes. I tried updating to the latest version of the driver, but that didn't work. I also tried unchecking the autosave function in the driver, but they still get changed anyway and then the driver asks if I want to save the changes.

My Coworker has an issue with dimensions disappearing while she is working on completing her drawing. We have tried using Audit..did not work, we thought it was maybe the anno visible tab did not work. She thinks that she did nothing out of the ordinary while working on the drawing. See attached drawing. The drawing is after all but a couple dimensions have disapperaed.
