Running 2013 SP 1, HF3.
So I made viewframes in my base file which I then xrefed my base file into my sheet file. In my sheet file, the viewframes are no where to be seen. The layer is on, set to plot, has an off color so I know I should see them.
Also if I data reference them in they again do NOT show up. But I can do a Zoom to and I end up at 0,0.
I have x'ref a dwg. file in my current drawing. And when i print preview with the correct ctb style... The x'ref lines are not showing up?
I am having troubles showing the green, cyan and yellow color. when i print preview it doesnt show nothing. The true color is on RGB.
Existing surface profiles not showing in xref. Constantly have to reload xref for profile to show. Even on opening drawing, reloading xref is required.

I attach an xref to a drawing, plan profile, and align the parts of the xref in each viewport the way I want them to appear.
The host drawing is a generic plan profile sheet border. The viewports are set to the same scale same annotative scale, and are undefined, not a plan or profile viewport. I save the drawing and get out of cad all together. I restart cad and open the drawing. The plan view viewport is visible and the xrefs are also. In the profile viewport nothing is visible or only one line is visible. Items in the view port are viewable, not frozen in the viewport, not turned of. The annotative scale is exactly the same for all viewports as is the xref drawing.I am xrefing a civil 3d 2011 aliment and profile drawing into these sheets. The only way to see the xref in the view ports is to detach and reattach the xref. To make things worse this does not happen to all drawings that are using the border that I used to create this drawing set.
Autocad 2013 Data Extraction works if I do not include attached xrefs and set it to "Select objects in current drawing". When I check "Extract objects from xrefs"; and go to next it processes for a bit then stays on page 2 of 8 on the Define Data Source page. Also have the same error if I choose " Drawings/Sheet set" with or without the xref objects included.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got a drawing that contains an XREF. I've got a field reading the viewport object's Custom scale>Use scale name. However, whenever the drawing is loaded up all of the XREF's scales get imported. Since they contain the same scales, the field changes to read the XREF scale instead of the one it was set to. They are the same scale, but the field reads the XREF one first. Here is a screenshot showing what I'm talking about. Notice that the viewport's properties never show the scale as 1:20_XREF, but the field does.
I've been having to click "show all scales", do a SCALELISTEDIT, remove the XREFs, then do a UPDATEFIELD. I have to do this every time the drawing is open. It stays that way until C3D is closed. This becomes a problem when I go to PUBLISH a sheet set. If I haven't opened all the sheets in the sheet set and changed the scale list then they all get the wrong scale list shown.

Im currently having problems with my profiles showing vertical curve data on a superimposed profile. The data shows on the normal profile however when i superimpose it to another profile i cant get the program to show it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am editing an old file set up by another firm that is used by our clients to keep track of room sizes etc, which has a room data table and room tags tied to area polylines. It has worked just fine on our 2013 Acad Architecture, but when I sent them (saved down to 2010) back to our client, using 2012 Acad Architecture, the tags disappear and the table is unpopulated.It seems like it must have something to do with the file originally being created way back when, along with some quirk between 2012 and 2013.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been really excited to know Pressure Network modelling is finally coming to Civil 3D with 2013 release. However I've got no clue why any pipe data won't display in Profile View.This makes absolutely no sense in pressure network profiling since you can't output any pipe data to profile view tables. Note pipe data outputs great for regular Pipe Network profile views.
Another thing I'm disappointed in is no ability to output Uphill Tangent and Downhill Tangent for pressure network pipes. Both values are given in Vertical Geometry Band type. Thus they are being obtaned from Profile but not Pressure Network Pipe data. Since in Pressure Networks it's only a couple of pipes that are being curved to match surface line it's impossibe to get Tangets. Sure you can duplicate surface profile and get required data using Vertical Geometry Band type. But it make no sence since it's too much hustle.
I'm quite sure I'm missing something here. Probably there's a way to add required data styles to Band types? Or modify Label styles Contents data sources?
We are in the middle of upgrading from C3D 2008 to C3D 2013 and are having problems with the data shortcuts. It appears that in 2013 you have to specify a data shortcut project folder and within that folder would be folders for individual projects. In 2008, we just put the data shortcuts within each specific project folder now that we have started working on projects that were setup in 2008, I am not seeing how in the heck we can access or create references to those existing shortcuts. I know we have skipped 5 versions of acad, but I would hope there would be a way to import or access existing project data.

I have many section views of a road where I want to calculate ground volumes. I have a curb in a section view and I want that Civil showed me just an elevation at the top of the curb and at the top of the road cover. Is it possible to do that? And also distances: I want that Civil just show me a distance from the center of a road to a curb and from a curb to the edge of the road.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIm having trouble with an XREF. Its a site plan which has a lot of hatching so slows my drawing. When I modify the XREF file either by turning off/freezing hatch layers, or even deleting certain objects, the changes do not show in my drawings despite reloading the modified XREF when prompted by ACAD.

My project was previously using Data Shortcuts in C3D 2013. I opened the reference (not the source) drawing that uses a bunch of Alignments. During the initial drawing upgrade from 2013 into 2014 I get a message for each Alignment that, "{Alignment Name} was modified in a previous version of the software. Changes in the current were overwritten when the data reference was synchronized.". At this point everything seems fine.
The issue I'm having is that when I re-open that upgraded drawing using 2013 all of those same Alignments become promoted. They are no longer referenced!
I'm using autocad map 2000. In model view I have inserted a map as an external reference. Then I have created a plot in paper view. Here the xref background is still visible. However, when i choose plot-->full preview I can't see the xref, only the other lines I've created. I'm using a HP designJet 500 in ISO A1 and have the following plot option selected:plot lineweights, plot with plot styles, plot paperspace last.
The drawing is pretty useless without the map
I am using Autocad LT 2013 and Autocad Architecture withing the same office. When I open a file that has an Xref from Autocad Architecture with 3D walls in Autocad LT, the walls only show as 1 line instead of 2. If I open the orginal file that the Xref came from, with Autocad LT the walls show up just fine (as blocks instead of 3d walls as I expected). I am hoping to be able to veiw the Xrefs correctly in Autocad LT.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a model space with a few XREF drawings. I have a layout with a viewport of these drawings. All seemed fine until I imported another drawing using XREF. I went to adjust this viewport and it is not showing the new drawing that has been imported into model space (I can see the three drawings that were there but the new one will not appear) to you have to like "reload" a viewport or something? (From my understanding viewports alwasys stay current with model space)
View 8 Replies View RelatedCurrently the xref manager defaults to CLASSICXREF. I thought this was a CUI thing and changed the XREF Manager "Show" from "No" to "Yes". Still defaults to CLASSICXREF. Is there a system variable for this? Something?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a drawing done in AutoCAD Architecture 2013. Most of it is just lines, but I have a couple of Walls with Doors. It looks fine in the base drawing but when I xref into another file the walls revert to their original color and the doors have disappeared. The opening is there but no door.
I tried xredit and the doors are there but when I close that they are gone again. Tried detaching and reattaching...still have the problem.
After I posted this tried Display Configuration. Clicking all options for Doors gives me the doors...in a closed position, not the same as in the base plan.
I am having some difficulty using the XREF/Block insertion using 'Locate using Geographic Data'. This does not seem to locate anything using Geographic Info. I have found a large discrepancy with this process in the order of 100's of meters. I am using SA-17S (dwg 1) in my drawing and WGS84-17S (dwg 2) in the drawing I want to insert.
When I attach dwg 2 to dwg 1 and set the coordinate systems using the assign coordinate system and query in data, everything matched and is coincidental, but when I insert or XREF using the 'Locate using Geographic Data', there is an enormous error.
We have a drawing with an xRef in model space and it is exposed through a paperspace viewport.
While in PS, we activate the viewport so that we can then select the xRef and with that done, we right-click on the mouse and now we have the issue.
On all computers but one, we see the pop-up menu on the left of the attached pic, but on that one computer we see the menu on the right. The difference is marked off in red and as you can see, the section with the xRef options is missing for that one guy. Why?
We are all using the same enterprise customization file and each user has their own main customization file. I have checked his main customization file and don't see anything that would be causing this.
Is it possible to embedd data in a table so that a user can select from a group of data within one cell?
I use this technique quite often in Excel. One cell in a table can have various values: A, B, C, or D. While another cell can have a different set of values to choose from: BLUE, RED, ORANGE, or PURPLE. The user can pull down an arrow (similar to a dynamic block) and choose from a set list of values.
The way it looks I should be able to edit the propertyset data though an XRef... but all the properties are grayed out. I thought it was because I also had the XRef open... so I closed it. Still the same result.
The discription says "Edit property set data in the current drawing or through external references. Add or Remove property sets."
Am I not understanding the tool - or what?
I have a master shape file that contains parcel ID, owner, tax info., etc. I have another file ( access 2003 -open to better file format suggestions-) which contains parcel ID and a "yes" or " no" entry for whether or not the parcel needs a new water meter. All I want to do is add the water meter information into the other shape file. This would create one shape file with one table with all the information that I need.
Ultimately I will use the information to do a map query and find out spatially where i need new water meters.
Right now i have the master shape file connected though the “Connect to Data” feature. I also have the new data added to the drawing though the Data sources------>attach under the “Map Explorer” Task pane. I attached access file (ver. 2003 .mdb) which has two columns “Parcel ID” and “Meter”.
I right click on the shape file under the display manager and select”Create a Join;” however my water meter table is not listed as an option. Will this not work?
Plan B - I tried to Create and connect to the access file as an ODBC connection. Followed this guy’s directions to a T [URL]. But when i populate my table under the fdo connection the column headings exist ( “parcel ID” and “Meter”) but the actual data is missing. Am I missing something important?
Note: I am running c3d 2012 on a Win 7 64 Bit machine. I also removed office 32 bit apps and installed 64 bit apps to see if that would solve the problem. No go.
say you make some parcels in your project with custom data fields like: id_no, permit_no, acres_served etc. you attach an agency provided shape file via an fdo connection that has many fields of information like above.
when you right click on your parcel and do parcel properties you get a tab that lets you input the custom parcel data.
lets say you print an fdo map label showing, say, the id_no, provided in the shape file. Then in your custom parcel properties for id_no you type that in.
is there a way to make an expression to put in the other custom parcel properties that will read, say, the permit_no(id_no) from the fdo like and put that information in the custom parcel property field?
I'm having problems getting super elevation data to transfer to different drawings by means of an alignment data shortcut. I know alignments hold the super elevation data so I've gone into my alignments data shortcut, input my super elevation data, saved and closed. Now when I open my finished grade drawing, reference in my alignment and profiles, then create a corridor from that information, my super elevation didn't transfer with the reference.
I pulled cross sections and it appears is has no clue there is any super elevation data. Also, I tried bringing it directly into the drawing I'm doing my corridors in and it erred saying I must be in the parent alignment drawing. Data shortcuts are pretty much useless to me if super elevation data doesn't transfer.

i have created a data band in profile view that should show a created profiles elevation, but some of the the data fields are missing irregulary. Also in the data band that shoud show the diferenece betven the tow profiles - EG and the new profile the data is missing. The EG profiles data and the surface are ok all is shown.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've just installed Civil3D, 64-bit on windows 7(running on bootcamp) and am trying to insert a georeferenced raster image but have encountered some issues.
1. "Home tab>>Data panel>>>insert An Image" - The data panel is missing and it's also not found in "customize palettes"
2. Trying the data connect route does not work either: Display manager>>>Data>>>Connect To Data - There is no 'Data' option and I cannot connect to Data.
I am having trouble when I import XRef’s and the scaling of lines. When the drawings are importing the hidden lines do not show up as hidden lines. I know this might be a scaling issue but I do not know how to correct this. The XRef drawing is drawn at a scale of 1-1/2”=1’-0” and set to print on a letter size paper but the drawing which it is imported to is set to be printed on a 11x17 but the viewport is still at the 1-1/2” scale and the lines are shown as continuous.

When I try to detach the Xref I get a message saying
"Xref xxxxx.dwg has multiple references. Not detached"
I've attached a screenshot of what I'm seeing.

I have a drawing (Drawing A) that contains a PDF (using PDF attach) with text over the PDF. I then have this drawing Xref'd (as overlay and as attachment) into another drawing (Drawing B). When I print this drawing (Drawing B). The text prints but the pdf does not.
In Drawing A the pdf is on the 0 layer.
In Drawing B the pdf is on 0 layer.
The 0 layer is not frozen and is set to print.
The xref in drawing B is set to overlay and relative (I tried absolute).
I can see the pdf in drawing B.
PDFrame is set to 2 in dwg A and B.
