AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Vertical Cure Data Not Showing On Super Imposed Profile
Jan 14, 2013
Im currently having problems with my profiles showing vertical curve data on a superimposed profile. The data shows on the normal profile however when i superimpose it to another profile i cant get the program to show it.

We don not show CL profiles and only show the gutters on the CL profile view. We also do not used profile bands.
I need to show Superelevation on both left and right profiles complete with labeling.
Short of creating a seperate alignment for each, sampling the corridor surface, superimposing it onto the CL profile view and then creating a layout profile by drawing over the sampled surface.

i have created a data band in profile view that should show a created profiles elevation, but some of the the data fields are missing irregulary. Also in the data band that shoud show the diferenece betven the tow profiles - EG and the new profile the data is missing. The EG profiles data and the surface are ok all is shown.

I created a road centerline profile and corridor and then created a profile of the two curb lines from the corridor. The road profile that I made has a vertical curve in it but the curb profiles do not show that information, just grade breaks every 25 feet based on the corridor sampling distance.
I would like to have the vertical curve information on the curb profiles.

I'm having problems getting super elevation data to transfer to different drawings by means of an alignment data shortcut. I know alignments hold the super elevation data so I've gone into my alignments data shortcut, input my super elevation data, saved and closed. Now when I open my finished grade drawing, reference in my alignment and profiles, then create a corridor from that information, my super elevation didn't transfer with the reference.
I pulled cross sections and it appears is has no clue there is any super elevation data. Also, I tried bringing it directly into the drawing I'm doing my corridors in and it erred saying I must be in the parent alignment drawing. Data shortcuts are pretty much useless to me if super elevation data doesn't transfer.

I've got a highway project for which I'm modeling the corridor but the design profiles given to me are for the right lane top edge (ETW) and not the centerline (crown). This is an undivided planer roadway with a typical 2% cross-slope. How can I use that profile for the right edge to run my corridor? I can't seem to get the corridor to use the super table that is attached to the centerline when I use an offset assembly. Is an offset assembly the right way to go with this design?
What I've done just to get going is to take that right edge design profile and draw it in my centerline profile view, then lower it 0.24' (which is my 2% normal cross-slope for a 12' lane) and then use that as a centerline profile and let my normal super assembly and table data control the corridor through the supers. So far that is working--but is there a better way to do this?

As shown in the attached drawing, the station label where the superelevation transitions back into normal crown shows with 4 decimal places. We have verified that all precisions are set to 0.01ft. The normal crown station at the begin transition shows with 2 decimal places.

I have a profile showing proposed storm sewer, existing sanitary, rock surface, existing surface, and proposed profile. Today for some reason the proposed profile and labels, and the existing surface are not showing on the profile and I'm not sure what has changed or how to get them back.

differences in elevations of points along Profile 2 (the proposed new road elevation) and Profile 1 (the existing elevation/surface) should be computed and shown right above the Profile 2 line. For example, if at a certain point PT 1 the elevation of the proposed road is 132.44 meters and the elevation of the existing surface is 132.45 meters, the difference is -0.01 meters and it should be shown exactly above the Profile 2 line (or a little bit above it) but not on it. The same should be done for every chosen point along the proposed profile.
So far, I have done this manually, by dragging the difference (already automatically computed and shown in one of the bands below the profiles) to the correct place for every single point. However, I don't know how to do this automatically.

How to "NOT" label the top elevation in a profile view? (see attached pic)
I can live with the far right and left vertical labels if I could turn the top elevation off.

Seems like a bug on Autocad Civil 3D 2013. I followed all the tutorials to design a circular vertical curve on a profile and it just dont work. I put circular on settings, click on circular curve by PVI button, the software even ask the radius and it end up designing a parabolic curve.

I just created a profile by choosing my PVIs and linking them together with tangent curves. How do I add labels to show the vertical curve properties (K value, curve length, station of PVI, elevation of PVI...)? I'm guessing I have to edit the label style?

I did a grading, created surface with it and draw a profile view. Everything seems to be good, except with the vertical geometry band. I need to fix slope and length only at break point, means PI (blue line), but aligment has created more PI with each surface tringular line at intersection (us i note). Is there any why to specify PI only at a break points?
I can erase PI manually on static profile view mode, but i desire to do it in dynamic mode..., in case when conditions changes.

How I have come to this question is through the process of trying to realistically show a hydrant in profile view. First off it it possible to create a completely vertical pipe in C3D? Also if you can, is it possible to show that in profile view? Basically, what I am trying to avoid is representing a fire hydrant pipe by creating some sort of custom cyclinder part in partbuilder. I have done this, but do not like the results.

On our road profiles, we have to show that low points and high points are adjusted to maintain a minimum of 0.6%. see attached screen shot. Currently, I am calculating the adjusted low point and editing the profile label. Since I can't figure out how to edit one label in a data band, I've been wiping out the old elevation and typing in the new elevation over it.
Is there a way to get C3D to do the calculation for me and populate the labels with the adjusted elevation?

I'm creating finished roadway profiles by setting the PVIs then going back and inserting vertical curves (Free Vertical Parabola, PVI Based). When I insert the vertical curve, it displays as 1-5 tangents depending on length (not a smooth parabola). I've changed the curve tessellation distance under the Edit Profile Style - Design tab, but it doesn't smooth it out. What am I missing here. I don't have this problem in other drawings and I'm using the same template/drawing settings.

I have a large scale industrial project with multiple road profiles and sections sheets. I find that when I plot my drawings manually by opening the drawing everything comes out fine. But when I publish the drawings manually or thru Sheet Set Manager, it shifts my vertical curve labels on my profiles down, which then conflicts with the profile linework (see attached image). Unfortunately manually plotting these drawings is not an option. Because of the amount of information in each drawing it takes 3-4 mins to open and we have 200+ drawings in a single set of drawings, which we have multiple sets of drawings for the project.

I received a file from another office which had a split profile. The only issue that my project manager and I have with it is that the profile lines themselves run from station limit to station limit, and therefore the profile lines run through the vertical (elevation) numbers. Is there a way to adjust the vertical (elevation) grid marks to clean this up?
I've attached a picture of how it looks now.

I can’t seem to manage to get the profile working, the assembly seems to look ok but it doesn’t show on the profile!
The assembly just follows the line of existing ground and does not show the height of the assembly (barrier). Also, if you take a quick section through the alignment/corridor it shows the assembly but doesn’t show it fully?

I'm currently making a profile view where i want my features/objects to be shown in the bands for chain age elevation etc.
I have fences footpaths & vegetation lines that i can show in my profile view by 'projecting objects to profile view', but i was wondering if I could show these in the bands instead as it would be more convenient.
From what i can see in my bands I can label at Major Stations, Minor Stations, Horizontal Geometry Point, Vertical Geometry Point, Station Equation & Incremental Distance.
I've attached a picture showing what it currently looks like.
