I have an xrefernced drg , which i print from a layout/paperspace .I freeze certain layers using VPort freeze in layer properties and save the drg whenever i close and reopen the drawing the layers are thawed in the viewport again.
View 2 RepliesI'm working with alot of overlapped x-refs and every layer for each x-ref will come in to the drawing. When I'm using the viewports I need to freeze all the layers for some x-refs that don't need to show in that viewport. Since each x-ref has well over 70 layers I am wondering if there is a simple way to freeze all the x-ref layers in the viewport.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI need to change colour to a drawing with several viewports and xrefs. I suggested to my co-worker that I could fix this via plot manager, but he insists that I change all colours in the xref to one and the same, so everyone can plot it black and white and so we don't have to set up new plot styles on every computer. (we've got the drawing file from another company btw).
I've had a look and it seems like I have to do refedit to be able to edit any parts of the xref. Most of the drawing has got the same colour already, but it just say "by layer"... how do I find out what colour it is?
I would like to know how to write a routine to thaw all layers in current drawing and multiple xrefs; then freeze all, then thaw only certain layers globally for a drawing that is open. Such as a dimension plan will thaw only *-BLDG, *-DIMS, *-RD-*, *BNDRY.
I would like to create one that will fit every project which has a different xref name.
I've got the second floor of a building which is an attic, which is over 2 different levels, each of which has its own xref. The roof is sloped. I would like to vary the cut plane in the same view, so that both xrefs are respectively cut at 1500mm above floor level. This would mean using 2 different cut planes, one for each reference.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe are using ACA2010 and use the project navigator to bring constructs into views then bring the views into sheets, which has been working great, but in the last few months we have gone to a sheet only to find that the view no longer contains the constructs. I was working on a project on Friday and the Site Plan view no longer had the site xrefed into it which I fixed, now today the Site Plan is fine but the Roof Plan is empty. This is not the 1st project this has happened to but it is the 1st time it has happened to me so I know nobody changed something they should not have. Is there a known bug in 2010 or something I should check. I don't want this to happen to the Floor Plan if it does I will lose all my dimensions.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIf we have both the Xref and the File that it is referenced into open on one of the computers here and we reload, the Xref disappears. If we do an undo and close the Xref it reloads without problem.
I tried to replace the user profile from another PC that doesn’t have the problem, but it didn’t work. Is there a Registry setting that cause this behavior? All stations set to “Enabled with copy”

few of our systems are not loading the xrefs automatically. it show as UNRESOLVED until reload it manually. also this systems are not able to attach / overlay xrefs as relative path.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm using Autocad 2013. My problem is when i use "recover files & xrefs", all the files recovered are saved as a 2013 dwg version. As we all save our files here as 2007 version so when others opened the files they are getting some of the xref files missing in the drawing.
Is there any option to save files in a lower version when i recover?
I've recently run into a problem that involves xrefs. Basically, I cannot open files that are being xrefed in other drawings when those drawings are currently open. AutoCAD Architecture will only allow me to open the xrefed file as a read-only version. For example:
I have 1ST FLOOR PLAN (drawing file) xrefed into A-201.00 FIRST FLOOR PLAN (sheet file). If one of my team members has the sheet file open with the drawing file loaded, then AutoCAD will only let me open the drawing file as a read-only file. But if my team member has the sheet file open with the drawing file unloaded, then I can open the drawing file without any problems.
I have never had this type of problem with xrefs before and so I'm wondering if it's an AutoCAD Architecture 2012 bug.
Every time I open my drawing (which includes an XR ) I have to go through and freeze several layers of the XR file (mostly hatch/shading layers). When I save and reopen, these shading layers are back unfrozen again and I have to go through and freeze them.
Is there a procedure to keep individual XR shadings off after saves?
I have a drawing with an x-ref in it. The x-ref contains multiple layers which, since creating it have purged out of the x-ref. However when i purge the drawing in which the x-ref is in the layers do not remove. Is there a way to remove these?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen an object in an XRef is tagged (and the object has an object based PSD) the tag will not update to reflect changes made in the XRef.
This can be fixed in the XRef by running the PropertyDataBrowser command and unticking the Overrides (shown in the leftmost tickbox when two tick boxes present).
Any automatic way to keep the tags up to date? I have attached my VB.Net code attempt for this. It almost works BUT the MultiViewBlock Overrides are ReadOnly.
Our office recently moved all of our project files to the dropbox. Now when I open files with xrefs I have to attach them back into the file. However, this doesn't happen for my coworker. She can see all the xrefs. How could I solve this? The file names or directory has not changed.
View 2 Replies View RelatedUsing ACA 2012 and Windows 7 Pro x64. I have a drawing with two viewports. In one I'm showing the electrical layers and the base floor plan. In the other I'm showing casework and the base floor plan. All of the layers are contained in one xref so some are frozen in each viewport. When I bind that xref using the insert method (bindtype=1) some of the electrical layers show in the casework plan. I've tried everything I know of but I can't figure out how to surpress this behavior. If I use bindtype=0 the problem goes away but I end up with ugly layer names.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having several problems with my xrefs. My two big problems are xrefs bringing in way more information than I want, and they are duplicating if they are selected, even when I have the xref layers locked.
My set up is this:
I have a plan file, a grid line file, an elevation file, and a section file.
I want all files to be referenced to each other. However, I do not want duplicates of any xref. For instance, in my section drawing, I will reference my plan file which consequently brings in any file that is referenced in the plan file. I know that I will get the circular reference warning and that I can click continue. However, is there any way I can just get "1 degree of nesting"?
Second, I cannot figure out how to lock my xrefs to prevent them from constantly being selected. My problem is that in my live drawing information, if I select everything within my window and an xref is in that window, it will be copied. I don't ever want to duplicate my xrefs, but I can't find a way to lock them (even when locking xref layers).
My drawing will only allow 3 viewports in each paperspace layout created. When I try to add or copy more than 3 viewports previous viewports created will go blank and cannot be activated anymore. I have never had this issue before, is there a setting that can fix this problem? I am running AutoCAD Architecture 2010

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using AutoCAD Architecture 2011. I have been working in a drawing for several weeks on casework. I have multiple viewports on my sheet layouts. Up until now I was able to select the viewports and move them or make them bigger or smaller with grip edit but now although I see them I can't select them or even delete them. I can double click within the viewport and change the scale or modify the items in the viewport but I can't do anything to the viewport in paper space.
I have turned all the layers on and made sure that none of them were locked. I have tried regen. I have opened a new tab and tried to create new viewports and I have the same problem. I can create them but once I do I can't modify / move them.
Beyond that when I switch from model to paper space it takes about 5 min. sometimes longer to switch and the same thing when I save it or close it. Is that normal?
Is there a way to copy a viewport with all its layers setup from one drawing file to another drawing file?
I can copy the viewport and activate it, but the layers setup for that viewport goes to default. So it turns everything on.
I can't make a layer state in the old file and import in new file, because the new file does not have all the same layers. So not all my layers would be turned off in the viewport.
I am using ACA generic walls and doors for quick schematic room layouts.
I use the sheet set manager to make sheet with views.
All 2D linework is visible in the views, but the walls and doors (AEC objects) do not appear!
AutoCAD insists on making newly created layers visible in all previously established viewports, even when I have set the visibility to off when creating the new layer. I have found to correct the problem is by going viewport to viewport (with the layer window open), clicking within the viewport and changing the layer visibility to "off."
I would like to have a global variable for new layer viewport visibility. by default, I would turn-off all visibility of new layers in existing or new viewports. Then I could turn them on where I needed them without having to clean up after AutoCAD. This is a logical default, because if I have not previously established a layer, it is likely that I would not want/need to see that layer in most previously established viewports.
I'm having a problem setting layers in various viewports. I set them (using VP freeze), they appear to be fine, I save, yada yada, but after a while all the layers turn back on within the viewports. Very frustrating. I am starting to think that there is a fundamental problem with my layers system- possibly having to do with my profile setting, but I don't know enough about setting and managing profiles to know where to start. Or it could be something else.

I have 2 viewports in one layer tab from that drawing with different scales.
I want to turnoff 2 layers in one of the VP but have them turned on on the other VP.

Model Space: has two objects one being a circle and one a rectangle
Paper Space: I have created two layers title "Area 1 Viewport" and "Area 2 Viewport". My goal is to get it so I can "Area 1" layer and the circle appears but when I turn it off that viewport goes away. Then when I apply "Area 2" viewport the rectangle appears but when turned off the viewport goes away. Currently the frame of the viewport is assigned to the layer but the objects still stay.
I have encountered a problem when creating a PDF. On the sheet there are 14 viewports, and when I plot the sheet to a PDF, one of the viewports plots completely blacked out. I have redone the viewport and Xref, but it still turns out black.

I produce drawing along the length of a road so use viewports to cover the length so when the viewports overlap I have a cut line and this often means at the end of one viewport you see the next viewports north point.
Currently I have the north point block drawn on its own layer then I end up creating 2 or 3 move layers to put the blocks on so I can freeze the new layers in different viewports hiding then from the previous if that makes sense.
Im having some problems with a file im working on. I have a file with an x-ref, when im in the model space i can see all layers i want to see, but in the viewports i created in the file i noticed that 2 layers(layers that i really need to see) dont show up. Ive checked the freeze/thaw, on/off, plot/no plot settings, layerstate, i tried creating a new layer in the x-ref file(the parent file) and putting these things that dont show in the new layer but nothing changes. I'll attach two images for the layer settings.
So, whats missing in the viewports is the cyan text where it says "Klassisk sal"and some other text surrounding it and the cyan box with the text "Mko 12.002". The highlighted layers in the layer properties window are the associated with these items
