AutoCAD Architecture :: Can't See Windows From Top View

Apr 3, 2013

I am working on drawing a simple garage with a few windows throughout it.  After inserting the windows in the wall where I want them, I cannot see them from the top view.  If I switch to an isometric view they are visible and exactly where I want them.  what I may do to make these visible from the top view?

AutoCAD Architecture :: Synchronizing Sheet View Layers To Match View

Sep 21, 2011

I have never gotten this to work, but had put little effort into it until recently.  Thus far I have checked my project standards to make sure "match sheet views to view" is checked to "yes".

In both View drawing and the sheet- VISRETAIN is set to 1.

the VPLAYEROVERRIDESMODE is set to 1

I am working on drawings that are in my current project through project navigator.  I am using ACA 2010 and not sure what else I need to do.  I turn off all the unwanted layers in the view drawing, then create a sheet and xref in the view to model space- all the layers reset, and I again have to turn off all the unwanted layers.  If I change a layer color in the view drawing, it does not change in the sheet drawing upon save and refresh.

I hate wasting time repeating the same task over and over....

AutoCAD Architecture :: Aec Objects (doors And Windows) Are Detaching From Walls?

Dec 21, 2009

We have a house plan that has windows and doors of different types anchored to their walls. It seems that whenever someone is working in a file from the network that has the plan xrefed into it and the plan is opened to be modified by another user the windows and doors randomly detach from the walls. We're getting tired of going back in and reanchoring them.

(We're using Autocad Architecture 2009 on Vista)

AutoCAD Architecture :: 3D View Won't Plot

Jan 26, 2012

I created a 3D view, shaded Realistic and inserted it into a sheet that is 11x17. When I plot (whether to .PDF or our copy machine) after the plot dialog box disappears, another one pops up that says "Plot Progress: Attempting to Cancel Sheet". Then it prints everything in Paper Space, but the viewport doesn't plot. By the way, when I look at it in Plot Preview, it's perfect. Fortunately I don't need to give this to my client for another 10 minutes.

AutoCAD Architecture :: Doors / Windows And Openings Fail To Display In 3d Model?

Mar 6, 2012

Okay so to start with I have a building with 2 staircores. Everything is drawn in 3d and I have drawn the 2 staircores as elements and subsequently Xrefed these elements into the relevant constructs and subsequently a 3D model view.

When I view the elements as a live drawing (ie. when I open the individual elements) the drawing views okay in plan and in 3D wireframe, hidden mode etc... no problem so far!

When the drawing is Xrefed into a construct and subsequently a 3D model all of the windows and doors disappear... but in 3d only - ie. viewed in plan mode they are fine. I have checked the display configurations in the constructs and views and they are all set to display these objects in the medium detail and high detail for the model and plan modes.

In 3d wireframe mode the windows and doors can be seen within the wall but the opening which they should create is non-existent!This occurs in teh construct and view drawings.

Here's the catch.... I have a 'West Staircore' and and 'East Staircore'. Both are drawn as individual elements. The West staircore is giving trouble, but the East is perfect. They were both set up using the same DWT file which means that the default display configuration settings should be identical. This is backed up by the fact that they view correctly in the live element drawings.

When they are both Xrefed into the same construct, one is fine and the other will not display in the 3D model!

AutoCAD Architecture :: Modify Roofline Causes Surface Hatch To Cover Windows

May 27, 2013

I am having a problem in an elevation view where the surface hatch covers the windows after I apply a Modify Roofline command in the construct.

When I look at the elevation in an isometric view you can see the surface hatch go through the windows. When I refresh the elevations after the construct xref is reloaded after Modify Roofline command the windows are no longer visible.

If I reset the modify roofline command in the construct, reload the xref in the elevation the elevation returns to normal.

I'd like to figure out why after the modify roofline command the windows are covered in the elevation but not in the construct view.

Alternatively, Is there a way for me to add a viewer window to my form? Like an InventorViewWindow Control or something?I've spent the last day or so searching, but nothing really useful has surfaced.

Apparently one of my co-workers say that the drawing crashes when this is done. When I ask the reason, they could not explain it.

The only thing I can think of is what happened to me once and that is I had a corrupted block and some of the objects were on the def points layer. If the drawing crashes because the view port is on the def points layer.

AutoCAD Architecture :: How To See All Levels (constructs) Together In One View

Mar 20, 2012

I just started aca12 today and i have a substantial query:

i've set up my project and levels. i have -1, 0, +1 levels with certain thickness each. i've noticed that the levels are separate dwg files. and each of them has 0.00 elevation for walls and elements that i put in.

a. now, i'd like to know how to put all the levels together, say, in 1 single display, so that i can make 3d view of the whole building?
b. btw the level names can be different from constructs' names, am i right?
c. why when i choose ,,copy constructs to levels'' nothing happens on those levels. i don't see any new elements there? instead of them i get 3 copies of the same level, like ground floor (1) ground floor(2) etc.

AutoCAD Architecture :: Edit In View Crash

Dec 10, 2010

I was using the 'Isolate Objects in Plan' on my Model when I experienced a fatal error, and my system went down. So I went to my latest Autosave and opened it back up, only lost 5 minutes at the most. No, big deal, right?

But now I have objects missing, and when I go to save it says...

..."Save command is not allowed when edit in view session is active"...

It must still be in Edit in view, the only problem is that the small dialog box which takes me out of edit in view is missing. So, how am I supposed to exit this session? I have nothing active in the ribbon, nothing in the tabs a the bottom of the screen.

AutoCAD Architecture :: Multiple Open Windows Don't Retain Relative Ordering In 2014

Jun 13, 2013

My problem is similar to the "send behind"/"bring to front" commands that you use when you're drawing.  But my issue is this: what wastes a lot of time for me in the new program is when I try to work in multiple windows at once.  (Btw, we don't have large screens to work with here.)  Usually what I'll do is have, say, three or four windows up at a time, none of which are maximized, and usually have two that I'm working on side by side, with the remaining one or two sitting in the background.  I also keep a lot of windows active, and minimized, so that's not the answer I'm trying to find.  I work mostly in model space if that makes any difference, though I don't think it should.

Now, not only do the borders of each of my windows get all sorts of funky screen images on them when I move them around (mildly amusing but not annoying), but what really grinds my gears is that the orientation, or layering, or what-have-you, of the windows that I have active and open in the background is not retained.  Let's say I have X-1 and A-1 up front and center, and I have A-3 and A-4 in the background.  Let's say I had moved A-3 to sit on top of A-4 before I started working on the X-1 and A-1 sheets.  Now, in the 2013 version, if I'd slide X-1 or A-1 out of the way, I'd see A-3 sitting right there on top, all happy and pretty where I left it.
