Is there a way to operate an offset to an entire layer?
I have a layer that has all the trees in the area. I want to do an 8 foot offset of every tree that is plotted. But there is like 2000 trees. Is there a command to do them all at once?
Any way to add all the areas of a space style to get a total SF#? Is there a way to add this information to a display theme style legend?(preffered) Is there a way to get this information in to a schedule? (less desirable)
View 1 Replies View RelatedI created walls for a structure by drawing a simple polylines and extruding it by the Z axis, so that i get a vertical plane. I created a number of such planes in the layer. I want to extract total area of this layer which has these polyline extrusions (planes). I know the command of add area, but it is a tedious process and does not work for curved planes. How do I extract the area for the entire layer in one go ?

In my previous version, the position could be set to "center / offset" which was an "and / or" option depending on the cursor location. Is this option available in ACA 2012?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen inserting doors and windows there was a feature called Offset/Center that allowed you to input a standard offset or the item would be inserted at the center point. Also, there were highlightable dimensions when inserting that you could modify on the fly.
I am currently using ACA 2012 and also have 2013 installed and neither of these versions have that feature. I have Offset as a separate selection and Center as a separate selection as well as Unconstrained, but not the combo feature. Is there a variable that controls this availability or something else that I can check to make this go back to the combo feature?

Im using MEP and in MEP2010 the Offset command worked fine on my structural members, offsetting to the direction I picked.
In MEP2012 the offset command now offsets the same structural member to the opposite side of the point I pick.
The structural member is rolled 180 and the way I can correct this offset issue is to roll the SM back to 0, then the offset command offsets to the correct side.
Is there a new setting or something in 2012 that will get the offset command behaving the way it did in 2010 where it does not care about the objects properties and just offsets it correctly?
Every time I created surface profile, offset profile and sections it always at ZERO (0) LAYER. All label, grid, etc always at 0 layer. What is the correct way of doing it to assign at the proper layer?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI need to find all instances, references, etc, of a layer and change it to another layer. I'm not talking about lines and objects or even blocks, but more like properties nested inside of wall styles and cleanup definitions, anything like that. I can't use the QSELECT or any similar command because the layer in question is being referenced inside of individual styles (i'm guessing that's the only place).
We drew our interior walls and our exterior shell for our building on two different drawings so that two people could work on them at the same time. They were xref'd into each other. We got to a point where we needed to put them back into one drawing so I binded the Shell Xref into the interior drawing. This saved us a lot of time but now all the layers from the Shell drawing have this prefix to it "01Shell&0&". This isn't really a problem but I'm a bit OCD and it bothers me to have two different layers for the same thing, one regular and one with the prefix. It means everytime we change the properties of a layer, we have to do it twice. I've already changed everything I could back to the original layers but the Shell layers still show up from time to time. They are nested deep inside of wall styles and custom cleanup properties, custom encaps, and so on.

I need an offset lisp routine to offset a selected line a set distance on each side of the selected line and change the layer of the offset lines to the current layer, and then keep prompting me to select the next line for offsetting until I'm finished.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a station-offset label style that will drop the trailing zeros in the offset section - e.g. 15' instead of 15.00', but if the offset is not at a whole number, e.g. 15.01, etc. it will display the entire offset.
I created two expressions: IF(OFFSET-TRUNC(OFFSET)=0,.1/12,.00000001/12)
and this one: IF(OFFSET-TRUNC(OFFSET)!=0,.1/12,.00000001/12)
I then created two offset components, one called truncated, and one called full, and assigned the heights to match the expressions.

I need a pit configuration, and I use the offset command to offset a base polyline to first 10 m and then 3 and so on.. is there a way to do this in an automatically way, that you can choose the lenght of the offset for each "offset" (i.e. 1st 10 m, 2nd 3, 3rd 10 m, 4th 3 m, and so on. I am actually using civil 3D.

When I import audio (.WAV) it works fine, but if I offset it to a later frame the waveform moves to the right frame but when scrubbing the audio stays at 0. Making if very difficult to lip-sync. I have tried re-caching, playing the scene all the way through and all other options I have seen online.

The box opens fine, but I can't see anything within the dialogue box. The file that is currently open shows through into the dialogue box.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm importing dxf files from the structural engineering program RAM Structural Systems where my buddy down the hall is modeling beams/columns/ etc in 3d. Importing is not a problem but I would like to know if there is someway to map the layers from his dxf to come in on my layers in cad instead of having to go through and select each object and place in on my desired layer. RAM does use layers for each member. For example :
when he models a beam in RAM its on an SBM layer. Is there a way I can make that SBM layer come in on my S-Beam layer that I have setup in cad?
In short I'm trying to find a way to not have to go through each dxf he emails me and place things on the layers I want them on in cad. I was curious if there was a way I could make cad recognize. SBM layer will be mapped to my layer S-Beam when imported.
why I can't see all the layers in the pull down menu? This doesn't happen with all drawings, but I've noticed this in a recent files.

It happened either after I printed or exerted the layer dialogue box, I can't recall. How can I get things to go back to show the colors they are.

I added "dimlinear" to the key style. but it just draws dimensions on the current layer.
I have no clue what I messed with but when I draw a line or any object, no matter what layer I have it set on, it will display as yellow instead of "by layer".
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am ACA 2013. I received a file from an equipment company and has these blocks that are huge in file size, so I am cleaning things up on them. Their blocks have multiple layers in them with different colors and linetypes. I see the setbylayer command and it works, but not all the time. On some of the blocks, they have attribute text in them. the individual lines of the attribute are on different layers. I want to keep the info, but set all to layer 0. then I can move it to the block to the layer I want.
another question, is there a way to make an outline of a block? Some of these blocks are so detailed that I want to make a simple outline and then delete the block.

On loading drawing, ACA returns

The LKS already exists in the drawing. Renaming it and pasting the first line to the command line results in a nil return and the LKS is not imported.
Format seems correct. Path is correct. It can't not import because it's already in the drawing. Renaming existing does nothing.
how to bring the layer description with the translation. For example one client uses the names of level 1, level 2 etc. What is on the layer is the description for expamle LEVEL 1 / BORDER. when I translate it oputs the layer name as the description.

It seems like it just stops and never gives me an option to change the color. I can change all the other features in the layer manager except for the colors (color & plot style color).

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am wondering why the most basic tools like MTEXT and DIM in the Ribbon don't have Layer Key options? Or am I missing something? I have the annotation content customized with layer keys and annotation scale on the tool pallets but obviously the "same" tool is right there on the Ribbon as well. Problem is that it is not the same tool and the one on the Ribbon is not configurable, like say with a simple Layer Key option under Properties.
I found the article by Koch about how to copy your tools on your pallets to the Ribbon but I don't understand why I have to do more and more set-up work with every new version. Is it really that bizarre to think that people might want dims to come in on A-ANNO_DIMS layer and text to come in on A-ANNO_TEXT layer?
The AEC content seems to find the Layer Keys. How unexpected that a wall would come in on A-WALL layer! It's almost like the people who made the program understand what it is used for.
