ACA 2013: We have notice that autodesk has added a quick preview for fillet and offset. It shows what the fillet is going to look like or what the offset is going to be. Is there a way to turn this off?

I have AutoCAD Map 3D 2013. Sometimes the fillet preview doesn't work. The fillet preview is supposed to work like this:
After setting the radius of the fillet, click on one line.
Move the cursor to other line to be filleted and wait for the preview of the fillet to appear. If the preview of the fillet looks good, click on other line to create the fillet. If the preview of the fillet doesn't look good, change the radius of the fillet and try again.
I think that there is a variable that needs to be set.
Why do the Fillet and Chamfer commands sometimes inexplicably require three clicks to execute? At "Select First Object", the first line I select doesn't highlight, and is ignored. The second pick selects the first line to be filleted, the third pick performs the fillet. There's no predictability to when this happens. Does this happen to others?

I have a layer that has all the trees in the area. I want to do an 8 foot offset of every tree that is plotted. But there is like 2000 trees. Is there a command to do them all at once?
I've just upgraded to ACA 2012. I can see how to insert a door in either an offset "or" centered position, but not both. In my previous version, the position could be set to "center / offset" which was an "and / or" option depending on the cursor location. Is this option available in ACA 2012?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen inserting doors and windows there was a feature called Offset/Center that allowed you to input a standard offset or the item would be inserted at the center point. Also, there were highlightable dimensions when inserting that you could modify on the fly.
I am currently using ACA 2012 and also have 2013 installed and neither of these versions have that feature. I have Offset as a separate selection and Center as a separate selection as well as Unconstrained, but not the combo feature. Is there a variable that controls this availability or something else that I can check to make this go back to the combo feature?

How do I activate the Q. A. Toolbar? And why are my ribbon tabs incomplete?
Recently I installed ACA2013 on a new Windows 8 64 proffesional laptop.
Installed ACA 2013 and the SP2.
But my quick access toolbar is completly white. If I stay over the toolbar the tips show up and when I click them they function. But I cannot see what I click on!
I already tried reinstalling ACA2013, but nothing works.
I'm shooting in both raw + jpeg..The reason is simple. I almost immediately send jpegs to my clients for a quick preview, and then I process the raw files.
In addition it has to be said that often the in camera processed jpeg has a very high quality standard and no further raw processing is required.I take a lot of time in popoluating the LR catalog with keywords, flags, ratings and so on.
I would like to work only once in putting keywords, flags, pick/unpick and ratings to a shooting set. Then send a sub set of selected photos (according to some LR filtering) to my customer in JPG format, and start working on the raw files of this selection...The problem is that I would like to send to the customer not just a JPG conversion of the raw files, but the original JPEG generated by the camera, which is almost more "pop" and of impact than a JPG export done without spending time in tuning the export presets: the camera generated JPEG is normally better than any raw export made with basic settings.
But I don't know how to do that because if I import in LR RAW + JPEG as separate entries I have to tag, flag, rate and keyword them twice. I have to put the same rating to the JPEG version and then to the RAW version. On the other hand, if I import them as a unique entry I get benefit in making the keywording flagging rating and tagging job only once per photo. But in this way, even if LR har information that the picture has a RAW and a JPEG, I completely loose access to the original camera generated JPEG file. Because when I export the output of a filtering selection I can choose to export as JPEG, but this is a new JPEG generation from the RAW, according to the develop settings that I may have or have not done, and if I export as original file I get only the RAW files, but no more the original camera generated JPEG files.
I have downloaded the trial 2014 version. How i go about turning on the ribbons at the top of the screen or the quick access toolbar? I have tried going through the CUI menu but I can't seem to get it to work .
View 1 Replies View RelatedIm using MEP and in MEP2010 the Offset command worked fine on my structural members, offsetting to the direction I picked.
In MEP2012 the offset command now offsets the same structural member to the opposite side of the point I pick.
The structural member is rolled 180 and the way I can correct this offset issue is to roll the SM back to 0, then the offset command offsets to the correct side.
Is there a new setting or something in 2012 that will get the offset command behaving the way it did in 2010 where it does not care about the objects properties and just offsets it correctly?
I want to add a text height chart to a dropdown menu in the Quick access bar.
I have the Dropdown made but forget how to add the chart.
When I hover the cursor / pickbox over a line, in about 1 second a small box (approx. 1" x 1" on the screen) pops open immediately next to the cursor - which lists the Color, Layer and Linetype of the line. As you move the cursor around the screen, these little boxes are constantly popping open - which is very distracting. How do you turn off this feature?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm running Autocad Architecture 2013. My .dwg has about 15 pdf's in it (from a consultant that does hand drawings that I scan in, and use the image manager to insert into my drawing). The PDF's range from under 1mb, to 10mb. The PDFs are in model space and within my various drawing sheets, I show them in my drawing sheets via multiple viewports. I noticed that when I go to plot a sheet that has pdfs shown in viewports, and click on PLOT PREVIEW, the PDF's don't show up - everything else shows up, linework, jpegs, etc, but not the PDF's! I fiddled with the viewports and noticed that if some part of the PDF's image frame was visible in the Viewport, the PDF would appear in Print Preview. But if the viewport sat directly over the PDF's image frame, the PDF would not show up in the Plot Preview!!!
Could it be I've exceeded the maximum number of Viewports in my entire .dwg? (I have about 16 sheets), Or, could it be some mysterious autocad system variable that I'm running up against.
How can I avoid getting zeros when creating dimension line with quick dimension command. the Zeros indicates the line itself. how it can be avoided?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a station-offset label style that will drop the trailing zeros in the offset section - e.g. 15' instead of 15.00', but if the offset is not at a whole number, e.g. 15.01, etc. it will display the entire offset.
I created two expressions: IF(OFFSET-TRUNC(OFFSET)=0,.1/12,.00000001/12)
and this one: IF(OFFSET-TRUNC(OFFSET)!=0,.1/12,.00000001/12)
I then created two offset components, one called truncated, and one called full, and assigned the heights to match the expressions.

We are using AutoCAD Architecture 2013 on machines running Windows 7. When multiple AutoCAD drawings are open on most machines in the office the icon in the Windows Toolbar shows multiple stacked AutoCAD images, and when you hover over those icons, all of the open drawings appear in thumbnail across the bottom. (This is a very nice feature!)
Unfortunately one machine in the office is not doing that with AutoCAD. That machine will show multiple icons and thumbnail previews for PDFs, Word files, etc., but not AutoCAD. Is there a setting that can be changed to make the thumbnail drawings for ALL open drawings appear when hovering over the icon in the Windows Toolbar? (That computer will show a thumbnail preview of the active drawing, but not all open drawings.)
I need a pit configuration, and I use the offset command to offset a base polyline to first 10 m and then 3 and so on.. is there a way to do this in an automatically way, that you can choose the lenght of the offset for each "offset" (i.e. 1st 10 m, 2nd 3, 3rd 10 m, 4th 3 m, and so on. I am actually using civil 3D.

When I import audio (.WAV) it works fine, but if I offset it to a later frame the waveform moves to the right frame but when scrubbing the audio stays at 0. Making if very difficult to lip-sync. I have tried re-caching, playing the scene all the way through and all other options I have seen online.

I have two circles which I have trimmed into arcs roughly to the correct length, when I try to fillet them (with various radii) the filleted curve either connects to the wrong end of one of the existing curves, or the filleted curve curves in the wrong direction. I've used this tool a lot before and have never had problems - until now. Is there a way to decide which way the fillet curves?

The attached image shows what I did in a different program, but need to repeat with AC. The swept 3D object is moved off its path in the attached image.
I'm having a problem with the fillet command using a radius, I can't seem to get a rounded corner. I have the radius set at 1.00. I should see a rounded corner. If I set it at 0.00 or 1.00. I get the same result. Something doesn't seem right! Could it be a setting.
I viewed a few videos on Youtube and I can't replicate the same filet with radius results. I watched one that you can select radius by right clicking mouse. A text box appears to the right of the cross hair cursor where you can input the radius. On my screen that does not come up.
How to set chamfer and Fillet. I have tried but just can not get it to do anything.
I may have maladjusted some other setting. Operator error for sure. I do not need to use these functions for anything else but the 3 shown in the attachment.
I have a line and an arc which are offset to each other. How do I fillet between the arc and the line. Every time I try to do it, it doesn't give the solution I want. I have attached a file which will show you what I mean. I want to fillet between the horizontal white line and white arc with a unit size of 6 so that the result is as shown by the red arc.
