How can I avoid getting zeros when creating dimension line with quick dimension command. the Zeros indicates the line itself. how it can be avoided?

If I have a dimension that is 1'-3" or larger, my extension line beyond my dimension line extends the normal length, but as soon as my dimension goes under 1'-3", the extension line then gets twice as long outside of the dimension line (see attachment). I have researched...and i can't seem to find a dim variable that will let me change this. is there anything to control this happening once my dimension goes below 1'-3"?

If I change the drawing scale in the tab at a the bottom the tics get smaller and closer in, but they are still off the dimension string by a long shot.

At present, the property set for dimensions appears not to include the dimension value.

I'm using different dimension styles for different scales on my drawing, however, if i change one dimension style text to a certain size, all of the others change too, is there something i'm doing wrong? I need every dimension style to be its own text size, but i'm having to manually change them every time.

I need to routinely insert text into or near my dimensions but my dimensions need to be kept as basic dimensions meaning they need to have the box around them as in the picture. What I want to do is what the first dimension shows with the "2x" outside the dimension box but that first one is a combination of suppressing the dimension line and inserting a leader so the 2x will be within the line. However, I have the same settings in another drawing file and they are the correct size. I have compared all the settings of the drawings that I can think of but still can't find an answer. It seems to be a scale issue but my scales from dwg file to dwg file seem to be the same.
