I am using AutoCAD 2010 and when i go to print my design to PDF or even to a printer, the dimension lines do not show up. I have checked my layers and the dimension lines are not on defpoints, in fact they are on layer 0. I have tried to create a new layer and it still does not show up in the work space, let alone when i try to print it.

How can I avoid getting zeros when creating dimension line with quick dimension command. the Zeros indicates the line itself. how it can be avoided?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm inserting dimensions and the tics keep coming out huge and not on the dimension line, in fact there's one on either side 20 ft out. If I change the drawing scale in the tab at a the bottom the tics get smaller and closer in, but they are still off the dimension string by a long shot.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'd like to apply a property set to a dimension, tag it, and have the tag display the dimension value. This tag would be remote from the dimension, and on a separate layer, which would remain on when the dimension layer is frozen.
At present, the property set for dimensions appears not to include the dimension value.
Why can I not always select something on the Defpoints layer?
I have always created a new viewport in layout space on the Defpoints layer and been able to select the viewport to move it, etc.
However, I have a couple of drawings that I can't even select anything I put on Defpoints - lines, text - anything.
Is there a variable I've changed and don't realize it?
I began to notice a weird glitch with the layer Defpoints.
When you isolate this layer any object on the layer is now unattainable to be selected via normal window crossing and direct object clicking. Go a head and try it and you will see what I am talking about. I also discovered even with a select few extra layers turned/thawed on with defpoints alone you still cannot select any objects on the layer. I noticed maybe +10 layers (dont quote me) turned on with defpoints then it is selectable as normal.
IIRC you can still select it via qslect once the layer is isolated.
I tried creating custom layers to replicate defpoints with non printable attributes etc. and it worked fine with this glitch because it wasn't defpoints but there's nothing like good ol defpoints. I personally tend to draft alot of behind the scenes information on defpoints.
I'm using different dimension styles for different scales on my drawing, however, if i change one dimension style text to a certain size, all of the others change too, is there something i'm doing wrong? I need every dimension style to be its own text size, but i'm having to manually change them every time.

so... I started to use defpoints as the layer for the the viewing window. This is so it doesn''t print out. However to make new sheets I copy and paste new sheets. The problem is I cannot delete the viewpoints as it in Defpoints and becomes invisible in Paper space. How can I delete one window?
I just drew a polyline on my defpoints layer, but now the polyline is not selectable. I have had this happen before with a different file and couldn't fix it then either.
All the settings/layer states look fine, but as soon as I add something to the defpoints layer it's untouchable.

How do I turn off the defpoints layer so it does not appear when i use the dimension tool while editing a block. I simply want to turn it off so the layer doesn't appear in the layer manager.

However, I have the same settings in another drawing file and they are the correct size. I have compared all the settings of the drawings that I can think of but still can't find an answer. When I go to dimension something in a new dwg that does not have the new annotation style, the dimension style does not keep its annotation setting. View 9 Replies View RelatedI have made thousands of sheet metal parts and their associated drawings without issue but this time, I made a part and attempted to make a drawing but dimension lines won't attach to certain geometry in the drawing. It acts like it will until I click the second line for the dimension then it errors, telling me the same error message that comes up when you delete a feature that previously had a dimension.
I also can't place an origin for doing a hole chart, for example. It just turns purple and says it isn't attached even though it clearly is.
I have a problem with Inventor 2013. The dimension lines have disappeared. I've been through all the dimension styles and layers to make sure I hadn't turned one off
All other drawings are fine and if I create another even using the same model it works just fine but I'd rather find out why than re-do the whole drawing.

I have a template IDW that i use for bearings. When I opened it today I noticed that two of the dimension lines were missing. The dimension and arrows are there. I tried deleting them are recreating them with the same result.
The interesting thing is, when I created the dim above the part it was fine, when I dragged it below the part the lines went away. After that no matter were I moved it the lines would not reappear.
I installed SP1 a while ago and just now installed the update to SP1 (DL20857064.zip). It did not fix the problem.
Is it possible to hide the dimension lines like in the attached picture?

We resently upgraded to Inventor 2013 and since then we have been having an issue of dimension and leader lines being hidden under a text box or some other drawing entity.
This is very confusing since the text box does not have a white out associated with it, nore is there a way to put the test box to the back and dimension lines to the front...
It seems like our puppet masters that program this amassing tool where up to something and didn't quite get there.
IT sure would be nice (or an absolute requirement) that this gets fixed so I don't have to learn new hoops to jump through to get a quality drawing out of Inventor.
How can I print a dimension with its arrows but without it's dimension lines?
For example--I draw a rectangle and draw a horizontal dimension across the center of the rectangal. Then I flip the arrows and drag the number to the left outside of the rectangal. I want arrows facing inward from the left and right and the number out to the left. I don't want a line stretched across the center of the rectangal.
Sometimes when I am dimensioning an object, my autosnap will pick up the end of an adjacent dimension extension line instead of the end of the object. Is there a way to prevent that?

I am on ACA2011. It does not matter if I am in model or a viewport. It is the same.
I have another file open and that dim ticks are filled.
I have imported the dim string into the one that does not work and still nothing.
