AutoCad :: Removing Overlapping Lines
Feb 23, 2013During the process of drafting many lines overlap (e.g. construction lines, objects merging, etc)
Because the overlapping lines have precisely the same properties, I don't feel the need to remove them.
The issue begins when I go to plot. The overlapping lines do appear darker than lines without overlapping. This occurs a great deal in my work!
Is there a function that will merge/flatten these lines so that no more overlapping lines exist?

Apr 19, 2013Im currently drawing renovation plans, sections and elevations, and i have a prexisting set of drawings, a after renovation set of drawings and would like to achieve the intersecting of this two sets with objects/lines in yellow for whats going to be demolished and red for whats being built and white for whats to remain untouched.
I started by setting a yellow color for the first set and red for the second set. And worked my way to the excrutianting task of breaking and setting this two sets of 2d drawings.
Is there a command or routine that allows me to break a line were two diferent lines overlap in the drawing. I was wandering if i could do that i then would only have to overkill the entire drawing..

Oct 11, 2011I'm inserting dimensions and the tics keep coming out huge and not on the dimension line, in fact there's one on either side 20 ft out. If I change the drawing scale in the tab at a the bottom the tics get smaller and closer in, but they are still off the dimension string by a long shot.

Dec 16, 2012From my vecor drawing program i export a file as DXF/DWG.
Then this file is run true a program to determinaded the plotting lenght on a lasercutter.
But a simple drawing takes som 80 minutes to cut and engrave.
Loading the file into X5 Home & Student is discover that the file contains 29059 lines.
Selecting some lines i can see that there are underlying lines.
How can i remove them without using VBA. And my drawing program has no option to save it to a file type.
Export it as a Atocad version 2000 or 14 doenst change the number of lines
CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4 :: Duplicate Overlapping Lines On Puzzles?
Dec 6, 2012I know this question was posted back in 2010, but thought I would bring it back to the surface to see if anything new has developed.
I am running X4. I draw jig saw puzzles in CorelDRAW (several shapes that I andomly node-connect) and each piece overlaps adjoining pieces on all four sides and are connected at multiple corner nodes as well as arc nodes. When sending to the laser for cutting, each side of each piece gets cut twice due to the overlapping lines. I was hoping the RemoveUnderlyingDups and NodeClean macro from a 2010 post would take these overlapping lines and create individual horizontal and vertical line segments from the connected nodes so the laser would make one continuous cut rather than duplicating all the cuts.
However, after running the macros, even on a small portion of the puzzle, I didn't get any results. I combined then broke apart as mentioned and still no joy. The only way I have been able to create separate line segments is to cut apart at the nodes and delete individual line segments... on 1250 pieces, with four sides and all sides overlapping, that's 10,000 separate edits... needless to say, duplicate cutting by the laser is faster.
Ideally, being able to create continuous horizontal and vertical lines based on corner node connections, would be the best. At that point, I could cut a 1250 piece puzzle with just 50 continuous horizontal lines and 100 vertical lines.

Jan 7, 2014I have made thousands of sheet metal parts and their associated drawings without issue but this time, I made a part and attempted to make a drawing but dimension lines won't attach to certain geometry in the drawing. It acts like it will until I click the second line for the dimension then it errors, telling me the same error message that comes up when you delete a feature that previously had a dimension.
I also can't place an origin for doing a hole chart, for example. It just turns purple and says it isn't attached even though it clearly is.

May 17, 2012I have a problem with Inventor 2013. The dimension lines have disappeared. I've been through all the dimension styles and layers to make sure I hadn't turned one off
All other drawings are fine and if I create another even using the same model it works just fine but I'd rather find out why than re-do the whole drawing.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Missing Dimension Lines
Dec 13, 2012I have a template IDW that i use for bearings. When I opened it today I noticed that two of the dimension lines were missing. The dimension and arrows are there. I tried deleting them are recreating them with the same result.
The interesting thing is, when I created the dim above the part it was fine, when I dragged it below the part the lines went away. After that no matter were I moved it the lines would not reappear.
I installed SP1 a while ago and just now installed the update to SP1 (DL20857064.zip). It did not fix the problem.

Dec 27, 2012We resently upgraded to Inventor 2013 and since then we have been having an issue of dimension and leader lines being hidden under a text box or some other drawing entity.
This is very confusing since the text box does not have a white out associated with it, nore is there a way to put the test box to the back and dimension lines to the front...
It seems like our puppet masters that program this amassing tool where up to something and didn't quite get there.
IT sure would be nice (or an absolute requirement) that this gets fixed so I don't have to learn new hoops to jump through to get a quality drawing out of Inventor.

For example--I draw a rectangle and draw a horizontal dimension across the center of the rectangal. Then I flip the arrows and drag the number to the left outside of the rectangal. I want arrows facing inward from the left and right and the number out to the left. I don't want a line stretched across the center of the rectangal.

Aug 1, 2012I am using AutoCAD 2010 and when i go to print my design to PDF or even to a printer, the dimension lines do not show up. I have checked my layers and the dimension lines are not on defpoints, in fact they are on layer 0. I have tried to create a new layer and it still does not show up in the work space, let alone when i try to print it.

Mar 5, 2013Im trying to move radial dimension text away from the dimension line so I can add in text between the dimension and dimension line.
#1 is the default style
#2 is what happens when I do "Move text only", it moves the dimension line to inside the radial and I do not want that.
#3 is how it looks when I just manually edit the dimension text
#4 is how I want it to look
#4 is a combination of dimension and a manually added leader with the dimension line removed. How can I move the dimension text on a radial without the dimension line automatically moving to the inside? Or is there another way to add in text outside the box while having the dimension text offset from the line?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Dimension Lines By Picking Points?
Sep 18, 2012Making the switch to Civil 3D. I was previously using 2009, and I could add dimension labels by picking two points (endpoints, intersections, etc.) to get the whole line or just a segment. In Civil 3D 2012, I create styles and add labels through the annotate tab, but I can only selct the line or curve in its entirety. There must be a way to easily label portions of a line or multiple segments as one line.

Jul 31, 2013When placing a dimension with the text outside of the extension lines, it defaults to placing the text either above right or below left of the arrows. If you try to grip/drag the text to another location (i.e. below right or above left) it won't allow it. I don't know if it is following some standard, but in the example shown, I had to explode the dimension to position the text in the preferred location.

DIMCLRD is supposed to assign a color to dimension lines and arrowheads. How to use this property to assign, say, color index 140?
