DRAWINGS.dwg
During the process of drafting many lines overlap (e.g. construction lines, objects merging, etc)
Because the overlapping lines have precisely the same properties, I don't feel the need to remove them.
The issue begins when I go to plot. The overlapping lines do appear darker than lines without overlapping. This occurs a great deal in my work!
Is there a function that will merge/flatten these lines so that no more overlapping lines exist?
Im currently drawing renovation plans, sections and elevations, and i have a prexisting set of drawings, a after renovation set of drawings and would like to achieve the intersecting of this two sets with objects/lines in yellow for whats going to be demolished and red for whats being built and white for whats to remain untouched.
I started by setting a yellow color for the first set and red for the second set. And worked my way to the excrutianting task of breaking and setting this two sets of 2d drawings.
Is there a command or routine that allows me to break a line were two diferent lines overlap in the drawing. I was wandering if i could do that i then would only have to overkill the entire drawing..
Because there is a PI in my alignment, the section lines in my corridor are overlapping creating problems with the surface. Is there anything that I can do in this situation?
View 6 Replies View RelatedHow to select a locked layer when you have too many layers overlapping?
I know I can select all the layers, lock them and unlock them. But I can't lock/unlock all layers when some layers are hidden. I'll have to dig in to unhide those layers. But then I don't want to unhide all layers, because it will make changes to my design that I wouldn't know.
Is there a smart way to find/select the lock layer?
How can i fix the problem of overlaping lines of text in the same dialogue box?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have selected several lines (not pl or spl), just lines, all of which are the same layer and such. I want to be able to select all thirty or forty of the lines using either the select similar (lisp, AC2010) or quick select and return a total length of all of the selected lines. In the properties box it shows as varies.
View 2 Replies View RelatedFrom my vecor drawing program i export a file as DXF/DWG.
Then this file is run true a program to determinaded the plotting lenght on a lasercutter.
But a simple drawing takes som 80 minutes to cut and engrave.
Loading the file into X5 Home & Student is discover that the file contains 29059 lines.
Selecting some lines i can see that there are underlying lines.
How can i remove them without using VBA. And my drawing program has no option to save it to a file type.
Export it as a Atocad version 2000 or 14 doenst change the number of lines
I know this question was posted back in 2010, but thought I would bring it back to the surface to see if anything new has developed.
I am running X4. I draw jig saw puzzles in CorelDRAW (several shapes that I andomly node-connect) and each piece overlaps adjoining pieces on all four sides and are connected at multiple corner nodes as well as arc nodes. When sending to the laser for cutting, each side of each piece gets cut twice due to the overlapping lines. I was hoping the RemoveUnderlyingDups and NodeClean macro from a 2010 post would take these overlapping lines and create individual horizontal and vertical line segments from the connected nodes so the laser would make one continuous cut rather than duplicating all the cuts.
However, after running the macros, even on a small portion of the puzzle, I didn't get any results. I combined then broke apart as mentioned and still no joy. The only way I have been able to create separate line segments is to cut apart at the nodes and delete individual line segments... on 1250 pieces, with four sides and all sides overlapping, that's 10,000 separate edits... needless to say, duplicate cutting by the laser is faster.
Ideally, being able to create continuous horizontal and vertical lines based on corner node connections, would be the best. At that point, I could cut a 1250 piece puzzle with just 50 continuous horizontal lines and 100 vertical lines.
My image is overlapping artboard borders,is there any easy way to cut/trim all overlapping objects??
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a strange thing that recently started on a file that I've been working for a while. All of a sudden I can't select line/poly lines to modify, howe3ver I can with others on the same layer. I've noticed the lines I have problems with are generally in the same direction. Some times I can highlight but can't tag to the snap markers. I did <change> command and did a select – all and changed the elevation to '0' and it actually worked for a while, but it reappeared again. When I hit regen those lines disappear and reappear again when I open the file again or when I play with the attribute display.

I am needing to import my map to a program to use. When I import the map the program is only showing the useable portion of the map in the top right corner because there are some invisible objects hidden at the edge of the .dwg file. When i hit cntrl+a, these show up but otherwise I can't select them. I would like to know how to make these items selectable so i can delete them.
I just got a new job with AutoCAD 2011. In the previous version (was using 2008 beore), I could select all lines, dimensions hatches, and then change the dimension style. But with this new version, as soon as I select anything that is not a dimension, like a hatch pattern or a regular line, I can't change the dimension style anymore. Is there anyway to change this back to how it was?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running AutoCAD 2010 full version. Every time I select a line or a group of lines or objects. My program freezes up for a couple of seconds each time, to scan the drawing. So a task that should take 10-15 minute is turning into 25-30 minutes nightmare. Every selection I make there will appear a progress bar and the words "Scanning the drawings..." in the bottom left hand corner of the screen. Is there some setting somewhere i can turn this scanning feature off? Is this issue linked to the layer states?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been using AutoCAD 2010 for a while now and then all of a sudden, I am unable to select multiple lines. The only way to select more than one line for a command is to hold down the shift button and then select more lines. I think someone was playing around with the computer and must have changed a setting?

View 8 Replies View RelatedJust want to ask if there's a script command or syntax in Ventura 8 to highlight and select multiple lines? There is a marker/paragraph tag to mark the beginning of the first line to be highlighted and selected, and also another marker/paragraph tag to mark the end.
Sample here...
line 1line 2line 3begin_select lineline4line5line6line7end_select lineline 8line 9line 10
Well, above is just simplified document sample. The main goal is to have a script to select multiples lines that will start from the marker "begin_select line" and selection/highlight will terminate at marker "end_select line". Thus, giving the output of highlighting and selecting multiple lines which are line4 up to line7.
Okay, I've got a weird problem involving paths. Sometimes, I'll be unable to edit or select the lines of a path. I can work with the nodes and handles just fine, but it's like the lines don't even exist. This usually seems to happen when I save a file, close it out, and then open it again, or when I use the clipboard to copy and paste a path.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm plotting a drawing in which I have land parcels provided in the form of a connected ArcGIS shp file. The parcels are closed polygon features. I'd like to plot the parcels as phantom linetype. The problem is where neighboring parcels have common boundaries, Autocad Map does not filter out the overlapping boundary segments for the purpose of plotting.
As a result, the linetype becomes a mixture of phantom and solid lines and everything in between. I've tryed using plotstyles as well as styling the polygons. I don't think plot styles work with map features. The styling works when the lines do not overlap. Exploding the polygons and removing duplicate segments is not a realistic solution when working with data that is shared by true GIS programs like ArcGIS. I've seen some old postings that indicate this has been a problem for years.
is possible to analyse the chain to see if is overlapping ?

I just can't work out why these pesky circles refuse to trim! I'm trying to merge them into one 'cloud' like shape, by removing the overlapping section from each circle.
I assume it's just my autocad display but I can never tell if lines and are drawn correctly or not. I'll draw construction lines and circles and grip edit my linework to snap to the end points and arc midpoints perpindicular to the circle but there are still overlapping displays. In the attached image I've snapped to arc points to the circle and the edges of the hatch to the extension/intersection of them and this is how it still displays.
Yes, I am constantly regenning and my arc smoothness is set to 10000.
