When I hover the cursor / pickbox over a line, in about 1 second a small box (approx. 1" x 1" on the screen) pops open immediately next to the cursor - which lists the Color, Layer and Linetype of the line. As you move the cursor around the screen, these little boxes are constantly popping open - which is very distracting. How do you turn off this feature?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm running Autocad Architecture 2013. My .dwg has about 15 pdf's in it (from a consultant that does hand drawings that I scan in, and use the image manager to insert into my drawing). The PDF's range from under 1mb, to 10mb. The PDFs are in model space and within my various drawing sheets, I show them in my drawing sheets via multiple viewports. I noticed that when I go to plot a sheet that has pdfs shown in viewports, and click on PLOT PREVIEW, the PDF's don't show up - everything else shows up, linework, jpegs, etc, but not the PDF's! I fiddled with the viewports and noticed that if some part of the PDF's image frame was visible in the Viewport, the PDF would appear in Print Preview. But if the viewport sat directly over the PDF's image frame, the PDF would not show up in the Plot Preview!!!
Could it be I've exceeded the maximum number of Viewports in my entire .dwg? (I have about 16 sheets), Or, could it be some mysterious autocad system variable that I'm running up against.
I need to find all instances, references, etc, of a layer and change it to another layer. I'm not talking about lines and objects or even blocks, but more like properties nested inside of wall styles and cleanup definitions, anything like that. I can't use the QSELECT or any similar command because the layer in question is being referenced inside of individual styles (i'm guessing that's the only place).
We drew our interior walls and our exterior shell for our building on two different drawings so that two people could work on them at the same time. They were xref'd into each other. We got to a point where we needed to put them back into one drawing so I binded the Shell Xref into the interior drawing. This saved us a lot of time but now all the layers from the Shell drawing have this prefix to it "01Shell&0&". This isn't really a problem but I'm a bit OCD and it bothers me to have two different layers for the same thing, one regular and one with the prefix. It means everytime we change the properties of a layer, we have to do it twice. I've already changed everything I could back to the original layers but the Shell layers still show up from time to time. They are nested deep inside of wall styles and custom cleanup properties, custom encaps, and so on.

We are using AutoCAD Architecture 2013 on machines running Windows 7. When multiple AutoCAD drawings are open on most machines in the office the icon in the Windows Toolbar shows multiple stacked AutoCAD images, and when you hover over those icons, all of the open drawings appear in thumbnail across the bottom. (This is a very nice feature!)
Unfortunately one machine in the office is not doing that with AutoCAD. That machine will show multiple icons and thumbnail previews for PDFs, Word files, etc., but not AutoCAD. Is there a setting that can be changed to make the thumbnail drawings for ALL open drawings appear when hovering over the icon in the Windows Toolbar? (That computer will show a thumbnail preview of the active drawing, but not all open drawings.)
New to AutoCAD. Designing a building in plan. Then used the plan to draw a section in new layer, but still in plan view. Is there a way to copy that section onto a new layer in front view and erase the old section layer? .

The box opens fine, but I can't see anything within the dialogue box. The file that is currently open shows through into the dialogue box.

I know how to add to the layer keys, and it seems to me that you can add a layerkey via the command line. Is this accurate or just wishfull thinking?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm importing dxf files from the structural engineering program RAM Structural Systems where my buddy down the hall is modeling beams/columns/ etc in 3d. Importing is not a problem but I would like to know if there is someway to map the layers from his dxf to come in on my layers in cad instead of having to go through and select each object and place in on my desired layer. RAM does use layers for each member. For example :
when he models a beam in RAM its on an SBM layer. Is there a way I can make that SBM layer come in on my S-Beam layer that I have setup in cad?
In short I'm trying to find a way to not have to go through each dxf he emails me and place things on the layers I want them on in cad. I was curious if there was a way I could make cad recognize. SBM layer will be mapped to my layer S-Beam when imported.
why I can't see all the layers in the pull down menu? This doesn't happen with all drawings, but I've noticed this in a recent files.

I added "dimlinear" to the key style. but it just draws dimensions on the current layer.
I have no clue what I messed with but when I draw a line or any object, no matter what layer I have it set on, it will display as yellow instead of "by layer".
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am ACA 2013. I received a file from an equipment company and has these blocks that are huge in file size, so I am cleaning things up on them. Their blocks have multiple layers in them with different colors and linetypes. I see the setbylayer command and it works, but not all the time. On some of the blocks, they have attribute text in them. the individual lines of the attribute are on different layers. I want to keep the info, but set all to layer 0. then I can move it to the block to the layer I want.
another question, is there a way to make an outline of a block? Some of these blocks are so detailed that I want to make a simple outline and then delete the block.

The LKS already exists in the drawing. Renaming it and pasting the first line to the command line results in a nil return and the LKS is not imported.
Format seems correct. Path is correct. It can't not import because it's already in the drawing. Renaming existing does nothing.
how to bring the layer description with the translation. For example one client uses the names of level 1, level 2 etc. What is on the layer is the description for expamle LEVEL 1 / BORDER. when I translate it oputs the layer name as the description.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am wondering why the most basic tools like MTEXT and DIM in the Ribbon don't have Layer Key options? Or am I missing something? I have the annotation content customized with layer keys and annotation scale on the tool pallets but obviously the "same" tool is right there on the Ribbon as well. Problem is that it is not the same tool and the one on the Ribbon is not configurable, like say with a simple Layer Key option under Properties.
I found the article by Koch about how to copy your tools on your pallets to the Ribbon but I don't understand why I have to do more and more set-up work with every new version. Is it really that bizarre to think that people might want dims to come in on A-ANNO_DIMS layer and text to come in on A-ANNO_TEXT layer?
The AEC content seems to find the Layer Keys. How unexpected that a wall would come in on A-WALL layer! It's almost like the people who made the program understand what it is used for.
From time to time the layer properties manger Blanks out. See the attached image. The data is there, under the "fog" - I can view one item at a time by clicking on it.
CLASSICLAYER works in most situations, but it isn't a real fix. If I play with the layer manager long enough I get some degree of rehabilitation - as if it is really trying hard to open, but just can't manage it. The fields sometimes are blocked black, or certain areas of the fields become visible momentarily. If I scroll to the far right I can pick up some information.
I'd just like it to work properly.
I am running AutoCad Architecture 2012 on Windows 7 professional with NVIDIAGeForce GT 440 and dual screens, (however I keep all the autocad work on the same screen).
I have a user who is experiencing a blank or improperly rendered layer dialog box from time to time (see image attached).
I've seen this with another user at a different office as well. I assume its a video driver issue but as I'm strictly a CAD manager and not IT support, messing around with that is outside my responsibilities.
A restart usually fixes the issue but I figured I try to at least find out of its a known issue with a known cause (and a known fix).
I am working on my electrical plan with the floor plan xref'd. I am able to get the entire floorplan to plot lighter using the 25% saturation feature in layers. The walls print ghosted, but the hatch that is on the same layer as the walls stays dark. I tried creating a seperate wall section All layers on the floor plan dwg that are xref'd in are the same in the layers dialog.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWalls are being created on layer A-Wall, in color Cyan, Lineweight .020, etc. I'd like to edit those layer properties. There must be a matrix somewhere that shows a list of all of the Architectural Objects, the layer that each object will be created on, and the properties of those layers. Where in ACA2008 have they hidden this top-secret matrix? I've accessed Layer Key Styles via about 6 different routes, and nowhere do I find a list of Objects. I see that I could define an override for every component of a Wall object in the Style Manager / Display Properties, but it sure would be easier to just change the layer color once, wherever that's defined. There is only one Layer Key Style accessible through Style Manager, and layer A-Wall doesn't appear in that manager- layers A-Wall-Abov, A-Wall-Blow, etc appear, but not A-Wall. Neither does layer A-Glaz, which is where Window objects are placed.
How does a Wall object know to place itself on layer A-Wall, and where are the properties of layer A-Wall defined?
I have an issue where any hatch that I place on a tool palette comes in on the wrong layer. They all come in on the a-hatch-window layer despite the properties of the tool being set to the correct layer and the correct layer being present and being the current layer in the drawing.

2- if i right click to select invert selection on selected image or layer and then right click it will shows to select linear or radial or path and add to shows no of copies and distance and scale input box in properties bar.and if i create radial copies,it will shows additionally inward and outward direction input box in properties bar.
3- if we select eyedropper tool using alt key and press + ability to select inner and outer ring color with feather value.
4- if we select isolate layer and then press p to shows full preview of all layers.
this has been only happening since updating this morning from 13.0.1 - 13.0.2...I have a problem where if I create a new curve layer and then press the preview button on/off it fails to re render the preview and nothing else happens until I OK it. I also notice that it creates history entries on the history panel like I'm making adjustments? Weird!
There's been a few other noticeable things too. The liquify window now doesn't draw as nice and smoothly as it did with 13.0.1. The cursor jitters a lot and control isn't as smooth.
