AutoCAD Architecture :: Where To Change Settings For Layer Properties For AEC Objects
Feb 15, 2011
Walls are being created on layer A-Wall, in color Cyan, Lineweight .020, etc. I'd like to edit those layer properties. There must be a matrix somewhere that shows a list of all of the Architectural Objects, the layer that each object will be created on, and the properties of those layers. Where in ACA2008 have they hidden this top-secret matrix? I've accessed Layer Key Styles via about 6 different routes, and nowhere do I find a list of Objects. I see that I could define an override for every component of a Wall object in the Style Manager / Display Properties, but it sure would be easier to just change the layer color once, wherever that's defined. There is only one Layer Key Style accessible through Style Manager, and layer A-Wall doesn't appear in that manager- layers A-Wall-Abov, A-Wall-Blow, etc appear, but not A-Wall. Neither does layer A-Glaz, which is where Window objects are placed.
How does a Wall object know to place itself on layer A-Wall, and where are the properties of layer A-Wall defined?
It's not just the layer that isn't being displayed in the Properties Palette. My 2014 Properties Palette isn't contextual--displays only the general info--none of the object specific information.
I have a bunch of objects on a particular layer, and they're all different colors and linetypes and lineweights, and i want them to all take on the color / linetype / lineweight that i chose for that layer.. how do i do this?
I used architecture on my pc. I installed Autocad on another pc with the same Serial code. I can see on the top that my version suddenly is a Educational version. I'm telling you this because i don't know if this is the reason of my problem.
The problem: i can't see the properties of an object when i use autocad architecture in the educational version.
For example: I make a wall and i place a window in the wall. Now i want to change the width of my window, using the properties bar. SO i click on my window (right mouse button) and click on PROPERTIES. It opens the properties bar BUT i can't see the window and his properties. At the top of the properties bar it says "No selection".. How can this be when i begin with the right mouse click on my window?
When i do it in the other direction: Open properties (ctrl+1) first and then select for example my wall, still nothing changes in the properties bar!
From time to time the layer properties manger Blanks out. See the attached image. The data is there, under the "fog" - I can view one item at a time by clicking on it.
CLASSICLAYER works in most situations, but it isn't a real fix. If I play with the layer manager long enough I get some degree of rehabilitation - as if it is really trying hard to open, but just can't manage it. The fields sometimes are blocked black, or certain areas of the fields become visible momentarily. If I scroll to the far right I can pick up some information.
I'd just like it to work properly.
I am running AutoCad Architecture 2012 on Windows 7 professional with NVIDIAGeForce GT 440 and dual screens, (however I keep all the autocad work on the same screen).
Just starting to use 2014, and so far not so good. I tend to keep the Properties Palette open and docked. In 2014, if my current layer is 0, any object I select in a drawing shows as Layer 0 in the Design tab of the Properties palette. If I change to a different layer, any object selected shows that layer in the Properties palette. If I start a new drawing, enter WALLADD and draw a wall segment, the A-WALL layer now correctly appears in the Layer Manager, but when I select the wall, the Layer in Properties is the current layer, not the A-WALL layer it should have gone on. Also, Quick Properties is on, but doesn't pop up anywhere.
I have some blocks which were overruled. Now I would like in properties palettes show some thing else instead of" block reference " for those overruled objects. Is it possible ?
I have created a library of dynamic blocks in AutoCad10. When I craeted them I could click on the Grip for a Linear Parameter that was associated with a Stretch Action and the current value would be displayed (Example: The width of a block). I could type in a new value and the block would stretch to that value. Something changed this week when I attempted to use my blocks. When I click on the Grip no dimension is displayed. The command line shows "Specify point location or [Base point/Undo/Exit]". I can drag the grip to change my block but I cannot simply type in a new dimension as before.
How can I change the settings, so that only one object will be selected at a time --> selected objects will be deleted from the selection, picking another object without pressing the 'shift' button?
Is there a way to select a number if not all objects in a drawing and then change the properties (specifically color) from the command line i.e. without a dialog window?

I'm looking to find a way to change layer properties by viewport. I know how to freeze/thaw layer by viewport but not changing their properties. I'm using VB .Net.
I am trying to change some default layer settings. I go to: Toolspace -> Settings tab -> Right click the drawing name -> Edit drawing settings -> Object layers tab. There I can set the default layers that objects are created on. I want to set "General Note Label" and "General Segment Label" to be created on what ever layer is current.
I have three drawing constructs.I have door tags and room tags. I have schedules. All work just fine. However, I need to combine all three Finish and all three Door schedules into one multi-level schedule for each, doors and finishes. In views, I schedule the external references by selecting the YES option in the properties dialog box. The problem is that the drawing contains doors and spaces that I do not want to be part of the schedule. How do I deselect the objects that I want to be in the schedule?
The other problem is I can only select one drawing. It makes no sense to have separate schedules for each floor on a small project where there are only 10-20 rooms. As a work around I can create the schedules in constructs, import all the constructs into a view, clip all the constructs and the stitch the tables together. This is cumbersome, does not update seamlessly and results in unnecessary file sizes.
Somehow the Properties Palette has gotten less wide- such that I can't read teh actual properties. Previously I was able to make it wider just by hovering over it, clicking on an arrow and dragging it wider. Not now.
When I select any object, my quick properties tab is blank and my properties tab doesn't register anything. Also, I get an error message when I go into my CUI to try to modify the quick properties tab. Pretty frustrating. I've attached a couple of images for reference. I've repaired, re-installed and unistalled and re-installed and still have the same probelm.

I am working in AutoCD 2013. When I try to change colors in my layer manager ( 1 or multiple) nothing happens. It seems like it just stops and never gives me an option to change the color. I can change all the other features in the layer manager except for the colors (color & plot style color).
What I am wanting to do is select objects or object mouse and use a keyboard shorcut to change those objects to a layer that is frozen. The layer is called "AS-BUIILT DELETED"
Can I have a lisp to select all objects in the layer "Defpoints" (including model and paper space, and including objects inside blocks) and change the color of those objects to color 30?
I am trying to change the default setting for "Pipe Flow Direction Method" currently it is set to "start to end" but I would like it to be "by slope". I have to assume there is a way to do this, I have tried everything i can think of.
Also need definitions of the "Pipe Flow Direction Method" options.I am currently using Civil 3D 2012, but will soon be moving onto 2014
Every single time I start AutoCAD 2013 my Properties Pallete's columns reset their size.
I've tried re-saving workspace to a new one. It won't work. It also doesn't matter if I open application using shortcut or by double-clicking DWG file.
I'm trying to set up some new title blocks, I have some "prompted entry" Properties that I want to incorporate, I've got them in the title blocks OK but I can't seem to get em to return a default value, the prompts are all coming in blank when the dialog box comes up. I have set the defaults to what I need on the original ANSI template with the new title block, but when I create a new drawing using that template, the title block comes in without any values set. Is there a way of setting them to return a default value initially that you would change if required, I'm sure I'm missing something very basic!!
Also, in the 'edit property' fields dialog box, there does not seem to be a way of inserting symbols into the value field, have I not turned on the right variable, or missed have I something else??
when I go to use the Layer Control on the Layer Properties it only lists the layer I'm working on. I then have to use the Layer Manager to change layers. why it would stop listing all the layers?
I’m a long time Photoshop user but recently picked up LR4 to try to fine tune my workflow. I’ve noticed that after importing new files (RAW, I haven’t tried with jpg) into my library as I scroll through them (1-up, not in grid) the preview comes up and then after a second or so the WB changes to a much colder image.
Does LR4 initially preview at specific settings and then change to the individual image settings? Even if so, the final images seem very cool and I feel like I have to up the temp more than I should have to. My previous workflow was to sort in Bridge and then use ACR to import to Photoshop. I feel like I did much less tweaking of my WB this way. I feel like I’m starting from square one with LR4.
AutoCAD Architecture 2009 - Something new started today!!! Working in either design or construction workspace the Properties tool bar will not operate. When I select an object and roll over to the Properties Pallette it simply starts to blink and does not open. Also, the Quick Properties panel will not open. Background, the new file I am working on was last saved on my laptop and transfered via a thumb drive. I have done this often with out a problem. However, the laptop is a new one with Windows 7 and my desktop has Windows XP.
