I am working in AutoCD 2013. When I try to change colors in my layer manager ( 1 or multiple) nothing happens. It seems like it just stops and never gives me an option to change the color. I can change all the other features in the layer manager except for the colors (color & plot style color).

If a color is selected from either the properties or quick properties dialog boxes, one of the choices the color icon with both black and white and a diagonal separator (which produces white on the screen and black on the plotter) which I will consider the default.
On the Layer Property Managers dialog box, however, while the full color pallet is available, I cannot find a way of setting the layer color to the default. Once a layer color has been changed from the default, how does one put it back to the default color?
I have noticed when changing colors in the layer manager it does not take the first time and sometimes the second either. It does not seem to matter if creating a new layer or simply modifying existing.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWe are working with a company that will be sending us DWG files. They do not use the same layer colors as us and I am trying to find a lisp that would allow me to set up a table with the layer names and the color I want them to be so that I can quickly change all the layers to our companys color standards.
Example:
Layer 1 = Color 1
Layer 2 = Color 15
Layer 3 = Color 10
Etc.
I don't know a lot about lisp but I figure if I could find a lisp that did this I could plug in my layer/color assignments and it would work.
From time to time the layer properties manger Blanks out. See the attached image. The data is there, under the "fog" - I can view one item at a time by clicking on it.
CLASSICLAYER works in most situations, but it isn't a real fix. If I play with the layer manager long enough I get some degree of rehabilitation - as if it is really trying hard to open, but just can't manage it. The fields sometimes are blocked black, or certain areas of the fields become visible momentarily. If I scroll to the far right I can pick up some information.
I'd just like it to work properly.

In one of the drawing i use many layers which is different color and used blocks which is also different layer and different color and many more object.I wanna set all color into 253.What is the shortest process about it..I wanna change all layers color into 253..
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have noticed something strange in autocad 2012. when i create a new layer and then pick a color for that layer it will work fine, then when im working in the drawing and i pick a line and go to the pull down to put that line on the new layer, it will not be the color i chose. then when i look in layers to see whats going on, it will be the wrong color, i can change the color back to what i want, but the line will not respond. I actually have to, In the layers, pick a different color, then pick the color i want again and then it will work.

Color are set to "by layer" so that is not the issue.
For whatever reason cad won't let change layer colors once there are lines on it. You change the color and when you close the layer dialog box and layer color doesn't change......

Today, and many, Many, MANY standard drawings later, it was determined that that layer's color should change. Any automated way to change and existing layer's color on all the drawings in a directory and that directory's sub-directories?

View 7 Replies View RelatedWalls are being created on layer A-Wall, in color Cyan, Lineweight .020, etc. I'd like to edit those layer properties. There must be a matrix somewhere that shows a list of all of the Architectural Objects, the layer that each object will be created on, and the properties of those layers. Where in ACA2008 have they hidden this top-secret matrix? I've accessed Layer Key Styles via about 6 different routes, and nowhere do I find a list of Objects. I see that I could define an override for every component of a Wall object in the Style Manager / Display Properties, but it sure would be easier to just change the layer color once, wherever that's defined. There is only one Layer Key Style accessible through Style Manager, and layer A-Wall doesn't appear in that manager- layers A-Wall-Abov, A-Wall-Blow, etc appear, but not A-Wall. Neither does layer A-Glaz, which is where Window objects are placed.
How does a Wall object know to place itself on layer A-Wall, and where are the properties of layer A-Wall defined?
For example I would like to make my images layer Green and my copy layer Red in my layers palette.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a drawing where I need to open the layer manager to turn on a layer in a view port but cannot get to that particular column. As you look across the top of the layer manager I can see all the headings of each column beginning with "Name", "Status", "On" and so forth. The last column heading I see is "Description" but I need to go even further to the right to get to the column I need to be at but can't get there. There is no scroll button on the bottom of the layer manager which would allow me to do that.

In 2008 before the floating layer manager the manager looked as the Classic version does now in AutoCAD ACA 2012 with the tool of "new layer from standard". This tool now only seems to be in the floating layer manager and when I switch to Classic manager the "new layer from standard" is removed from the dialog box.
I want to use the classic dialog but have access to the "new layer from standard" tool
I'm currently using AutoCAD LT 2012 and when I create a new layer and set it as current in the layer manager, regardless of what color I set the new layer to, the new layer's color remains the same as the previous one in the properties box even though the colors of the layers are always set to "by layer."
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I do a drawing I have about 20 different paper space tabs. I then use these tabs for floor plans, sections, details, elevations, etc.
I've tried to set up some sheet sets to use A1, A2, A3, and A10, these 4 pages go into one drawing set.
I setup a new sheet set to use A4, A5, A6, and A10, but the sheet set manager won't allow me to use A10 again because it was used already in a previous sheet set.
The sheet set manager works great for for printing all sheets into one set. But this shortcoming has forced me to use the publish command and save my sheets to .dsd files.
In ACA 2012 there was a nice feature that did the following:
When you finished creating a new Sheet Set in the SSM, it would then immediately open the new Sheet Set in the SSM. (a few seats of ACA 2012 were in use in the office) In ACA2011, it didn't do this. You had to browse for the newly created .dst file to open it. (I was using ACA 2011 at the same time as those others were using ACA 2012).
Now we've all upgraded to ACA 2013 in the office. However, that nice little feature appears to be gone again. Any way to turn that back on in ACA 2013?
I recently installed Building design suite premium and I am just getting around to getting it configured. I was trying to open up the detail component manager and have been looking for the default tool palletes for detailing and they are missing. In AEC content the path to the databases are there but I can't find where to access the detail component manager or tool palletes. I can't even find the tool catalog to bring them in that way. It says to look for the detail panel in the ribbon but guess what, I don't have that panel nor do I have the option to show it in the ribbon.
I have also searched for a command line command to open the manager and I couldnt find that either.
I am running ACA 2011 x64. Recently I have been unable to save a view drawing in the project manager. When I press the save button it a window pops up telling me it cannot save the drawing in my project folder and saves it as a .tmp file.

The Detail Component Manager will not open on (2) of our (7) machines and returns the error message: "Specified cast is not valid". The files are located on each machine. I have tried running a repair; I have copied the Detail Component Manger files over from the good machines, and I have also run a re-install and the Detail Component Manager still will not work.

i can see the informations of surfaces and the openings in "Space/Zone manager", but no way to export or to extract them. the informations are also no "property set" information, which could be managed with schedules.
My detail component manager in AutoCAD Architecture 2011 was working fine until I installed Revit 2013 on it (as part of Building Design Suite 2013). I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling MS .Net framework, but it has not worked.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhat would cause a layer manager to NOT be updated after code has been run to freeze or thaw layers in a viewport? After I run my program, the viewports will show the layers I want thawed and will hide the layers I want frozen, but when you look at the layer manager, it would show all layers are on and thawed.
If you save the drawing, close it and re-open it, the layer manager now seems fine and matches the viewports as to what is thawed and what is frozen.
We have just upgraded to 2012 map 3d and now every time I open a drawing whether or not in the sheet set manager or straight from the file location, the layer properties manager opens with it. Is there a way to make it not open every time a drawing is opened?
