So, a lot of years ago, someone decided on a particular color for a layer and it became the company standard. Today, and many, Many, MANY standard drawings later, it was determined that that layer's color should change. Any automated way to change and existing layer's color on all the drawings in a directory and that directory's sub-directories?
View 7 RepliesWe are working with a company that will be sending us DWG files. They do not use the same layer colors as us and I am trying to find a lisp that would allow me to set up a table with the layer names and the color I want them to be so that I can quickly change all the layers to our companys color standards.
Example:
Layer 1 = Color 1
Layer 2 = Color 15
Layer 3 = Color 10
Etc.
I don't know a lot about lisp but I figure if I could find a lisp that did this I could plug in my layer/color assignments and it would work.
In one of the drawing i use many layers which is different color and used blocks which is also different layer and different color and many more object.I wanna set all color into 253.What is the shortest process about it..I wanna change all layers color into 253..
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have noticed something strange in autocad 2012. when i create a new layer and then pick a color for that layer it will work fine, then when im working in the drawing and i pick a line and go to the pull down to put that line on the new layer, it will not be the color i chose. then when i look in layers to see whats going on, it will be the wrong color, i can change the color back to what i want, but the line will not respond. I actually have to, In the layers, pick a different color, then pick the color i want again and then it will work.

Color are set to "by layer" so that is not the issue.
For whatever reason cad won't let change layer colors once there are lines on it. You change the color and when you close the layer dialog box and layer color doesn't change......

I am working in AutoCD 2013. When I try to change colors in my layer manager ( 1 or multiple) nothing happens. It seems like it just stops and never gives me an option to change the color. I can change all the other features in the layer manager except for the colors (color & plot style color).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a library that has a primary folder with 11 subfolders. If the LISP can go through all the subfolders, that would be great. But, if it cannot, I can work with going into each subfolder and running the routine. There are over 12,000 files and I don't have the time to open each one and change the color.
Here's what I need the LISP to do:
open the drawing
select everything
change the color to "bylayer"
save
close
open next drawing in folder and repeat
Once it gets to the end of the folder it can stop.
I need a lisp can change all elements in block to layer 0 except layer defpoint but still keep linetype, color as it is.

However, now when I print drawings or make pdfs, they are in color instead of black and white. And the pdfs in color now copy in such a way that some of the layers appear faded, are very light, and are difficult to read. How do I get the prints and pdfs back to black and white, with no color?

This is really useful, but is there a way of assigning a line color to the .ipt file it's self, so that every time I place a view of that part the lines are automatically set to specified color?
This would also be useful within a single drawing when there are multiple views of the same assembly. e.g.
Part A would always be drawn in Red, Part B would always be green. This would really distinguishing between parts in complex assemblies. (Which I realise can be done manually but I think it could be done faster with less chance of making mistakes.) Currently, I color all the parts, but then if I make an additional view, the new view is all in black.

I am using this command without showing the obscured lines.When I am generating the isometric views with the flatshot I am seeing strange objects (UFO), is far away from the original model, you can see in the attachment.
It is possible to generate somehow 2D views (front views&isometric views) seeing the color which every element has, and it is possible to correct somehow those ugly isometric views ( the guys from autocad should do something with this, because when I am generating a isometric view the 2d drawing that I received is completely different from the 3D model !).
I want to make the drawings using the 2D views, because the 3D Models are very big (50-60MB) and it is very hard to work with them!
I have a Windows 7 machine running AutoCAD 2013. When trying to open any drawings from our AutoDesk Vault 2013 server, AutoCAD will hard lock/freeze and can only be closed by using Windows Task Manager. When accessing the same files through the Vault first, without opening AutoCAD, they open with no issues.

It appears that the Layer Filters functionality is broken again with 2013. Unchecking the "Apply layer filter to layer toolbar" disables the function of layer filters in the tool palette.

After the parts are released the ballooning is removed from the drawing and the basic revsions take over after that. View 8 Replies View RelatedSay I have 10 .dwg files. Each .dwg file has a printable layout, a load of geometry, and in particular, a layer called "Animals" with some geometry on it. During .dwg creating some of the CAD engineers turned off the "Animals" layer in MSPACE and saved the drawing.
I now want to come along as the reviewer and plot these 10 .dwg files all with the "Animals" layer turned on. Currently I'd have to go into every .dwg file and turn back on the "Animals" layer, and then plot.
I have a block that has to be update in a bunch of drawings -more than 20-. I updated in only one drawing, apply coy paste to the following but the block does not update in the drawing that I am pasting my new block. How is possible to update this block in the following 19 drawings?

We did alot of research on google but can't really find an solutions , autocad 2012 had no problems with saving files.
Also tried different drawing but even if i start an new drawing and will save it , mostly autocad crashing.
I just installed Acad v. 2014. I opened up an existing file, went to select a line, but noticed that the line does not highlight when I hover over it like my last version. How do I change the settings so that when I hover over an object, whether it be a line or a cross hatched area, it will highlight that object so I know the length or area of the object?
