Oct 21, 2013I am using AutoCAD Mechanical 2013. (Full version).If there is SLD with different HP rating, tag names and different cable ferrule numbers, and if there is any small change in HP rating of motor or small change in tag name, then it is time consuming work for me to go to AutoCAD and change the text by referring Excel sheet.
Is there any way to link excel sheet to AutoCAD drawings? So i can take updated excel sheet and link it with AutoCAD and if there is any change in excel sheet then it will be updated in CAD file as well.If there is any setting or grid referencing to be made. I am ready to do the required changes to meet my requirement.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Remove Character Formatting For All Of Text Strings At Once?
Oct 30, 2012I am working with tables that are linked to data from an excel file.After I create a table I dettach it from the excel file. I do not want the excel file to control the table.
I then need to update the text format of all the text in the table. I've noticed that the text strings are still formatted based on how the excel file was formatted.
The only way to remove this is to click on the cell, highlight the text, right click, and then select Remove Character Formatting. Unfortunately I have to do this for each text string.
Is there a way to remove the character formatting for all of the text strings at once?
Even better, is there a way to format the table so that it does not change the text style based on what is in the excel file but instead based on AutoCAD's text styles?

Gobal edit – Modify > Object > Attribute> Global. Command is –ATTEDIT –

Jul 15, 2013I got a work that I have to change around 1200 drawings from Microsoft Visio to AutoCad 2009. One annoying thing is that the Visio drawings got Arial as text style and my company want everything in their own textstyle. So at the moment I single click all text bar and change the style, there must be a faster way to fix this.

May 22, 2013Someday the light bulb is going off and I will understand mapcar and lambda. However.....I have a program that reads an excel file sheets. Sometimes the sheet only has 1 column, sometimes 2 or more.
I need to convert the saved values from the sheet to a list with the text spaced evenly. Unfortunately the text lengths vary. I would like a subroutine to pass the list to and return a list of strings with text aligned with padded spaces allowing for the longest text in each column. I am using the new list in a dialog box with fixed_width_font=true (so columns align).

Apr 23, 2012I am trying to select multiple instances of text (dtext) with different strings but want to change all of the fomats to the same settngs. I have searched high and low on the web to no avail. I am using AutoCAD 2012.
For example: I want the routine to find all instances of "AA", "AB", "AC", "AD", "BA", "BB", "BC", "BD", etc... all the way up to "ZD".
Next I want all of those text entities to change to the following text formats:
Text Style = STANDARD_96Layer = F-ANNO-CKTText Justification = MIDDLE CENTERText Width = .8
Getting this to work with just finding one string at a time with the ssget function seems simple enough, but it's getting it to work with multiple strings that I can't get past.

Mar 20, 2012I would like to embed long text strings to image metadata, in order to copy and paste memories written and related to these images. As an example, I'm keeping a sailing logbook and I would like to add the daily entries to pictures but I have run into problems when sharing images elsewhere. The string length exceeds the metadata standard lengths.
Which standard metadata fields allow longest text strings that I could use for my logbook entries without the fear of losing them when exporting or sharing them elsewhere?

May 30, 2013I'm struggling a little with editing strings in iLogic. I have sets of part numbers that vary in length, but I'd like the part number to appear in another custom property with the last 6 characters trimmed off.
e.g.
Part Numbers: 12345_WXXXX
123456789_WXXXX
123_WXXXX
Desired Values in custom field: 12345
123456789
123
I can write a line of code that keeps the last 6 characters but I can't get it to trim off the last six, because I don't know how many characters will be in the code before the last 6.

Aug 6, 2013Someone was using my computer and maybe they clicked on some button but now if I am in a layout and double click on my viewport I can not change the View Scale by typing in a custom scale.
I typically work in meters and do subdivision layout so I use 1:500 up to 1:5,000 but now even though the view ports are unlocked the number will not change when I type it in but I can zoom in and out with my mouse.
I can pick a scale in viewport scale like 1:5 1:1 but prefer to type in my scale as I like to plot it.

Nov 28, 2011I have a full set of water drawing that need to be submitted to the City’s Water Department. We have to include DWF and DWG drawings on a CDRom, but that is easy. The issue is that there is a stand-alone submittal set. Now, this is not hard to do with Sheet Set Manager; that is not the problem. The problem is that the Water Department has a special set of layers that they want any Civil to use for submittal. These layers are of course different from the NCS we are using now and in our CD submittal set.
Is there a better way than to insert or bind the drawings to a special set of drawings and then change the names? I would most likely use either the “rename” command or the “layer translator” function in Civil 3D 2012. However, if I ever had a revision that affects the base drawing and the CD set; I would have to re do all this binging/inserting and renaming over as well.

"key=value" for each line on the text file.
One specific line has the key "file" and the value is some file path that includes a space.file=C:/my folder/my file.txt
Now I can extract what the key and value is for any given line in the file.However, I want to put all of the data into an Associative List so that I will not need to keep opening the file each time I search for information. I've been using the cons function in order to create a dotted list, which is successful. However I have an issue when I add this dotted list to the end of my associative list.
Suppose I have a key and a value already stored inside variables. Below I have two lines of code, first the dotted list portion is printed, and works as expected. The second line adds that dotted list to the associative list:
(princ "Cons: ")(princ (cons key val)) (princ "") ;Prints (file . C:/my folder/my file.txt)(setq assocList (append assocList (cons key val))) ;Error message here.
The error that I receive says "; error: bad list: "C:/my folder/my file.txt"..Here is the change:

Now, the dotted list is inserted properly and looks like this after printing the whole associative list: ((version . 1.0.1) (file . C:my foldermy file.txt))

Jan 24, 2012I have a library that has a primary folder with 11 subfolders. If the LISP can go through all the subfolders, that would be great. But, if it cannot, I can work with going into each subfolder and running the routine. There are over 12,000 files and I don't have the time to open each one and change the color.
Here's what I need the LISP to do:
open the drawing
select everything
change the color to "bylayer"
save
close
open next drawing in folder and repeat
Once it gets to the end of the folder it can stop.

I am looking for a way other then sketching a non-connected circle or hex around my leader text.
Solidworks had some thing that allowed you to create your leaded text and then select an option border shape around it.
