View 7 RepliesWe have Adobe Acrobat Pro which has a plugin to allow batch plotting of PDFs from multi-sheet drawings. Works awesome in Autocad 2009 and before. It DOES NOT work with Autocad 2011!
We have drawings with 70 sheets and it's nice to print the entire document to a single PDF in one step. Takes less than one minute in Acad09. Nice!
Using AutoCAD 2010.
Is there a way to change text strings in several drawings? A search and replace routine that would do several AutoCAD Drawings at once.
Looking for a method of selecting multiple blocks that have been arrayed within a drawing. I have tired with filter and qselect however there is no way to filter out blocks by name contained within an aray. Would be great if there was a .lsp routine or arx file that could deal with this.

I need to export many library elements (conveyors) which are saved in individual blocks to mass objects. I need to convert them to IGES after that.
Until now I have to open every single block and convert all of it to a mass element. This simply takes too long.
Is it possible to write a small script or program which converts all blocks or the selected blocks to mass elements?

2012 drawings are not showing multi-leaders, when opened in 2007. We saved the 2012 drawings down to 2004. These same multileaders are not printing either.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have 10 separate drawing files that I want to combine into one drawing and I want each drawing to be on a separate layout.I want to end up with one drawing with 10 layout tabs each containing the graphics from one drawing. Each drawing has one layout with the graphics on it.No fancy paper space / model space stuff. No viewport scaling.
I thought this could be done via Design Center but I've never used that.
I have a drawing done by a colleague. The problem is the blocks not shown in multi view.... I checked the layers and isolation but i cant find the solution.

When I pick rendered for my shadeplot on a viewport, none of the materials applied to multi-view blocks show up. Is this common or is there a fix?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Room Tag (multi-view block) that was created in a previous release of AutoCAD Architecture that is not coming in at the correct scale in AutoCAD Architecture 2011. When we used to insert this block into an 1/8"=1'-0" drawing, it came in at a scale of 12.0,12.0,12.0. Now when we insert it into a 1/8"=1'-0" drawing, it comes in at 9.0,9.0,9.0. So, at 1/4"=1'-0" it comes in at 4.5,4.5,4.5; when it should be 6.0,6.0,6.0. I have many custom blocks that we have created for door tags, section refs, etc. and would just like to know what scale factor needs to be adjusted to fix this small issue.
View 2 Replies View RelatedDue to customer constraints I have to embed .tif images into AutoCAD drawings. This is a manual operation doing a copy ->pastespecial. I was wondering if there was any way to automate this? The pastespecial command doesn't seem to take arguments to bypass the dialoge box and therefore does not allow me to batch embed .tifs programatically.

is there an way to display attribute data using a multi-leader inside a single dynamic block.
To elaborate, I'm trying to create a borehole dynamic block that I can enter the ground level and end of borehole level as attributes, and have them show up in a multi-leader. The reason for the multi-leader is that I can add a background mask to it and it automatically adjusts the length of the outline obox around it.
I just want to insert the borehole block from a tool palette, enter a couple of attributes, stretch the bottom down to whatever level, and I'm done.
I've been playing with it all weekend trying to get fields to show the attributes and I can get it to work if I use another block for the levels (multi-leaders), but even then I have to into the fields an mess with them. It's go to be east so my CAD guys can do it without slowing down, otherwise they may as well carry writing everything out long-hand as they do now.
I'm using Civil 3D 2012, if that matters.
I have a client who is requesting that I send them ".dwg" files of a particular project. They are asking for both 3D solids AND 2D drawing files.
1.) I can export the assembly files to a 3D DWG easy enough but how do I do it for 83 files using task scheduler or something; I cannot figure it out?
2.) We have used ".dwg" as our native drawing format because we have people here who have a need to open our IV drawings using AutoCAD. Can I just send my client these files, without the supporting part files, and have them open them?
3.) If I just send them a copy of our native ".dwg" files are they going to be able to re-use that geometry somehow? There isn't a real IP concern as these are just pipe supports and platforms made from available steel shapes but I certainly wouldn't want them to be able to take our work and re-use it on a different project without us. If they have to do some crazy stuff like explode and scale and re-dimension these things in order for them to be re-usable on a different project, I would at least prefer that to them just being able to reuse them easily. I guess what I'm saying is that if they are going to re-use this content, I am not going to make it easy for them that's for sure!

Is there any way of running a batch process to convert a number of AutoCad drawings into Tiff format, at once? Also, if a batch process is not available, can we save our plot settings for conversion to Tiff so that they can be recalled at a later stage? We would like to be able to transfer the same plot settings to other PCs so that we are all producing the same formatted files. Are the plot settings transferable?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'd like to batch plot 50 drawings, all of which have the same title block in the same position. This is easy with the PUBLISH command, but I'd like to be able to add a "stamp" of the customer logo to these drawings, which I have as a block in a separate file. Basically I want to easily be able to plot the same drawings for different customers, the only difference being the customer logo. Is this possible?

I have over 100 image files set at 1200 dpi and 44,000 dpi. How can I batch process all of them so I end up with a new set of images that are all 200 dpi?
I'm pretty new to using multi view blocks and rendering etc etc... basically all I want to do is show my surface (lake and landscaping) as grass, show a clear blue hatch to represent the water line and add some multi view blocks.. people and trees...
Using the multiview blocks toolpalette I have dragged and dropped some blocks into model space and ensured they are at the correct elevation to sit on the surface...
I have noticed that only one of the multi view blocks within the landscape tab is showing as I would expect - the rest all look like an extruded cross... I don't know how to fix this or whether this is correct.
I need to insert a table in paperspace tab that will continually count up blocks within a set area of model space ( i need to have 3 counts, 1 for each floor of a house i.e one table per tab for that floors blocks). I have used BCOUNT and DATAEXTRACTION but they only count it once and if i add more of a certain block it does not update the table.
im using AutoCAD 2012
I received a file that has a large number of blocks with unnamed blocks inside. I need them all to be by layer, and i really don't want to explode it.
How can I can do it?
I am doing electrical drawings with the architect giving me an exported DWG from Vectorworks. I have XREF the background drawing that when opened is about 6 blocks of the building background and 2 blocks of the electrical devices.
Here is the problem: The architect sent me an updated DWG that only has the electrical updates without any backgrounds. My thought was to purge all and then select all the items and then copy with basepoint. Then open the original architects XREF drawing. Select those two electrical block, erase them (or move them to the size a fixed distance). Then paste as block from the other file. Then move the block to the correct location, explode, done.
Big problem: I just tons of this error in the command line referencing different block group numbers being ignored:
Duplicate definition of block Group-1265-1 ignored.
Then the block that was pasted added a background that wasn't in the old drawing and many of the items in that block was either missing or still had the old symbols. Can't figure out how to update the background with confidence that it is really updated with new information and not keeping old.
If I open a new drawing and paste that block in, everything comes in perfectly

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am a land surveyor and am looking for a routine that will look at my txt files exported from the field data collector, and upon exporting into C3D, will look at the descriptor and place an appropriate block on the node. For example, if the collector code was for an IP (iron pin), when the points are imported into the drawing, a solid round block would be placed on each node with the IP description. Same if for trees, concrete monuments, fire hydrants, etc.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIn M'Space I have created a layout (i.e. buildings) which in P'Space is my Dwg 1. I want to reference part of that layout in what is to be my Dwg 2. On Dwg 2 I want to insert a block (paths), because my dwgs are referenced when I insert that block it appears on both P'Space layouts. I've even tried inserting the block on its own layer but of course if I turn it off it turns off on both dwgs..... Is there a way I can print both the dwgs so they individually look the way I want without having to remember to select "do not print" that layer everytime I need to print Dwg 2?
