Photoshop :: Batch Saving Layers As Individual JPEGs?
Jan 4, 2012I have assembled a wholel lot of scanned pages from my sketch pad into one psd file. That file has guides which I use to register and align every page (each page is therefore its own layer). Is there a way I can make an action and save off each individual layer as its own jpeg? I set up an action but I don't know how to get photoshop to save it with a distinct namespace. The first action I set up basically prompted me to re-name each layer as I saved it, which isn't really saving time. What I want is for the action to start at the bottom layer and turn off the visiblity of all the layers above it, save the visible layer as a jpeg with a name based on the layer and then turn on the next layer's visibitlity and repeat, until all layers have been saved.

We have drawings with 70 sheets and it's nice to print the entire document to a single PDF in one step. Takes less than one minute in Acad09. Nice!

Jun 1, 2006I've heard this is possible but have no idea how to set up the action. I would like to automatically carry out a certain number of instructions such as resizing photos automatically by just saving them into a certain folder. Once I dump the photo in the folder it alters the size and maybe carrys out a further action such as altering the auto exposure.
I've also heard you can map hese actions to an certain keyboard button. ie F1 = Folder which reduces the image to 7x5. Folder F2 = Folder which resizes image to 8x6 etc etc.

Sep 4, 2006I have been saving bulk images from Bridge using Batch process. What I would like to do is when the image is automatically saved as a JPEG. I want them to be saved as a (6) medium. However, they all seem to be saved as a (12) large. I then open each one and re-save.

Aug 2, 2004I'm working in the multi-channel format, which as you may know, does not support layers.
Does anyone have any tips on experimenting with the layout, without the use of layers?
At the moment, I've been working out the layout in another (layer-supporting) colour mode, and then recreating that layout in the multi-channl mode.
Surely there is a better way of testing different layouts, within the multi-channel mode itself? I'm finding it very inflexible at the moment.

Mar 22, 2007I'm using Photoshop to create my web images and need to make an "Action" to use the "Save for Web" function where it'll save 3 different image sizes (Small, Medium and Large) with a suffix at the end of the file name ("_s", "_m" and "_l" respectively), but I can't seem to find any way of getting the software to add to the filename without rewritting it completely (which I have to do manually anyway).
I have found the "Output Settings" dialog window and this looks to do everything I want, but I have tried everything I can think of and can't seem to get it working.

Nov 23, 2005i often scan in images, roughly 50 at a time, in the order i want them saved/numbered in. When i go to batch save, (along with some color correction and other small things) it numbers my files from the LAST image i scanned in to the first.. IE; what should be image50.jpg is image01.jpg and vice versa.. basically its doing the naming in reverse.
I never had this problem in PS7, only since moving to CS2.

I chose Save and Close, but each time it goes to save the JPG window pops up to ask me what quality, etc..
I want them to just save as JPG quality 10.
I don't want to have to hit enter after every image is processed.

Nov 18, 2013I've been asked to work with a blogger who until now has accepted images to their size uncompressed of resized. We've got around the problem of the max image size by using the plugin Insanity. Which has done a great job however what it doesn't do is re sample the images for the web.
Usually if I blog myself, I always save for web but I'm having real trouble, real real trouble creating an action that will save for web to the original folders instead of a separate one.
The thing is that there are so so many images in so many different folders and sub folders these must be modified and replaced ready for re upload.

Ive created a process to create low res images with a new file name prefix s_ and I have selcted "include all sub folders" in my source folder options.
The problem i have i select a destination folder and all the images are saved to the destination folder root. As opposed to the original location of each image. (its own sub folder)

Jan 17, 2013I have an iLogic template part that has a multi value parameter. In this case the product code can be selected from a list of 4 codes. In futre we may need 5 and the 5th may need to be available to older parts.
I would like to avoid having to add the 5th as an option to every part we've ever made when the 5th becomes required.
I'd like to have the list of codes stored in an external file (Possibly an xml) and the template part reference that file to acquire it's list of available codes. That way I can add codes to the xml and all the files will have their list of available codes updated.

Apr 14, 2013Target a folder with xxx .gif patterns (in the same size)- Setup actions to batch open each image from the folder, copy the pattern image individually over to a .PSD file that have a silhouette of the sleeve.- Apply the individual pattern to the clipping mask- Save it out as .png
Issue:So far ive only had the automate > batch process to save out one .png with the pattern correctly applied to the silhouette.
I close down everything and initiate automate > batch process then Photoshop will complain about not being able to locate the clipping mask.In my action setup I first open my .psd containing my sleeve shape, then open an actual pattern image and then all other steps ending up with saving the .psd with pattern clipping mask to .png. Oct 9, 2012I'm trying to find a script that batch rename/renumber a group of selected layers. So far I've been able to find a script that renames every single layer in a Photoshop document (overkill). Or there's the CS6 Tab rename trick (too slow).
I routintely export PSDs from Illustrator for use in After Effects. But in Photoshop, I'll get a couple hundred layers named <path> or <path> + <path> or <group>. Renaming by hand is out of the question. But I don't want to rename every layer the same.
Photoshop :: Batch Processing Actions In Layers
Jul 18, 2013I've got to submit about 130 images in JPG form to the media department by 1 o'clock today EST.
Basically, this is my setup up in PS CS5. I have a simple graphic (a black decorative border) in its own layer. Below this, I have a mask so that the images below it can peek through the decorative border. The sample below only has 1 image, but in my actual document there are about 130 layers under this mask, each with a different image.
I have to export every single image as a JPG. Not all the images are the same size so I have to turn off all layers, and leave only the layer being exported visible every time.
Is there anyway I can batch this? I don't see how can PS turn on/off layers automatically as it exports.Or how could I have done this differently for future reference?

Jun 17, 2013I switched from CS5 to CS6 and now everything that I save, when I go back to it, it is merged into one layer.
The layer box is checked in the save dialog. The one thing that I did do was make a pdf of of the file also in the save as menu.
I have done this a ton of times before in ealier versions and my files were never merged. what is wrong? I have put in hours of work and now I can't edit anything. Can I get the layers back?

Mar 25, 2009In CS3, there was an 'export to pdf' which just converted the PSD to PDF.
Now in CS4, the option is under 'save as'. The problem is when I am doing a job and want to get approval, I like to generate a low res PDF WITHOUT the option of 'preserving photoshop editing capabilities'. Otherwise, I get aa huge file.
The problem is, the document in Photoshop is now a PDF and although the layers are still showing in the layers pallet, if at that point, I do any more editing or just try to save it as a PSD, the image is automatically flattened, without any warning. I managed to lose all my work by saving AFTER I created the small PDF.
why has adobe chosen to change the working document to PDF? If I save as a jpg, the document remains as a PSD file. This is very frustrating. I much prefer the export to
PDF in the CS3 version.
If CS4 is doing this, it should at least generate a warning that all layers will be merged at that time.

Illustrator :: Batch Create Symbols From Layers?
Apr 19, 2013I have Illustrator files of some fairly complicated schematics that I will be bringing in to Flash. The layers are already well organized and named so I would like to select particular layers, hit a "create symbols" button and have all of the selected layers turned into separate symbols that have the same name as their layer name. I would even be willing to code something to do this but I can't find any information about how it can be done.
I know that I can import an Illustrator file into Flash and select layers that I can then make into movie clips but again, I have to manually select the layer, tell it to be a movie clip and then give it an instance name. I would be happy to try to automate that process as well but haven't found any info on how it can be done either.
