AutoCad :: Plugin To Allow Batch Plotting Of PDFs From Multi-sheet Drawings
Jun 17, 2011
We have Adobe Acrobat Pro which has a plugin to allow batch plotting of PDFs from multi-sheet drawings. Works awesome in Autocad 2009 and before. It DOES NOT work with Autocad 2011!
We have drawings with 70 sheets and it's nice to print the entire document to a single PDF in one step. Takes less than one minute in Acad09. Nice!

I have found that if you publish to single-sheet .pdf's and then combine the .pdf's into one file using Acrobat, each sheet is bookmarked using the name of the individual files for the bookmark names. However, if you publish to a multi-sheet .pdf, no bookmarks are created. Is there any way to create multi-sheet .pdf's in AutoCad and have bookmarks automatically inserted (using the name of the layout as the bookmark name)?

I've been try to use the Multi Sheet Plot routine that's provided with the Inventor 2014 install.
I'm attempting to plot both Vaulted and Non-Vaulted idw and Inventor .dwg files.
Regardless of drawing type or location, the Multi Sheet Plot routine is unable to print any files. The application reports a failed while reading error. None of the settings within the application seem to have any effect on eliminating the read file errors.
What steps must I follow in order to successfully print multiple sheets of a designated printer?

My colleges and I are having trouble plotting a batch of drawings (Layouts) using sheet sets. We believe that we have set up all the parameters correctly in order to accomplish what we want. First off, we have set up the page set up in each layout properly. We have also set up page set up overrides to plot sheets at different sizes. The problem is that when we send a batch of drawings ( ex: 30 drawings) only the first drawing in the batch gets plotted. We have also tried plotting from the Publish dialog box and still that only plots the first sheet.
Do you think that the problem is at the networked software that the plotter uses? Or is this having to do with additional parameters in the sheet set that I am missing?

This is an issue for which no one in my office has any solution. We create all of our plan sets on E1 size paper. However, when we plot them for redlines we print to C-size to save paper. I know you can "publish selected layouts" to plot numerous tabs at a time. However, I am unable to figure out how to make them plot to a smaller size paper than what the page is set up for. Is there a way to plot all of the tabs at a smaller scale without plotting each tab individually?
We just recently upgraded to AutoCad 2014.

I figure many of you do as I do, drawing things to plot blueprints. It just so happens that I'm often sent PDFs of drawings to plot, but for some reason I have trouble with them.
Suppose I have a standard drawing that is meant for a 24x36 Arch D sheet size. It will always plot 36" because it has to, that is the paper width of the roll. But for some reason, it will stop shy of 24" and cut the paper as much as 4 or 6 inches short, instead of printing the full 24".
The drawing inside the PDF is exactly right, the Adobe Acrobat Reader shows the drawing fine, it fits within the margins, it's not scaled, the sheet size is shown accurately. Based on the visuals and settings, all things are great. I've got the paper set to 36" roll, opaque bond, no scaling because I need it to print accurately.
However, when it prints, some of the drawing is cut off at the bottom and at the top, and instead of 24" it cuts the paper at 18 or 20". I don't get it. It shows 24" in the print wizard, the correct paper size is shown, the preview images looks great. All things check OK, and then it prints and cuts off the graphic and makes a short sheet.
I'm afraid to try scale to 100% or scale to sheet size, because the people who have to use this need to scale it on paper with a ruler and I can't have it stretching or shrinking the print.
What gives with Acrobat printing? Need to plot PDFs accurately? It would be one thing to simply cut the sheet where the graphic ends, but this is actually stopping shy of printing the graphic altogether and cutting the sheet early before it reaches 24".

I would like to use the plot function to generate 3 individual PDFs from a 3-sheet idw in Vault.Requirements:
1. Each PDF needs to be named after a certain field that is already populated in iProperties
2. All PDFs need to be output to a fixed folder in Vault
I have tried some iLogic codes and indeed it is possible to do that from within Inventor. But should we need to print a large number of idws that will be a nightmare for me.

I am wanting to import pdf's of drawings into my AC08. I just want them in there for reference purposes, i draw submittals and have them in pdf format and on paper, just on big jobs nice to be able to just scroll over and reference rooms and such. I dont need them to be to scale or scalable. I copied and pasted some in but they were so small, by the time i zoomed in on them they just look like a bunch of vectors and not very legible.

AutoCAD MEP 2010
I've used batch plot to make pdf copies of my drawings in version 2004 and did not have this issue:
In 2010 when I use batch plot to pdf (say for 5 drawings), it produces one single pdf file with 5 sheets. I want an individual pdf file for each drawing (5 pdfs).
I don't want to have to open each drawing and plot. That's what batch plot is for!

What Acad2010 or Trueview 2012 uses to create it's bacth PDF's? We got a new plotter last week and it seems to have corrupted that driver somehow. We are no longer able to create batch PDF in either Acad or Trueview. We using both Win XP and Win 7 machines. I don't know if the plotter had anything to do with this problem it just seem that this happend the same time as we installed the plotter. I can use a 3rd party PDF maker to make individual PDF but this takes time, the batch PDF is much more useful for me. I'm hoping I can get the generic PDF driver that autocad uses and reinstall that, but I don't know what it is or where I can find it.

We need to be able to print each sheet to it's own PDF (preferably automatically naming the pdf in the process). I can't seem to find a way to do it in Inventor itself or the Task Scheduler. I imagine it's something that needs to be present in the PDF driver, but CutePDF and Acrobat Printer don't seem to have that option. Is there one that does?
Surprisingly, AutoCAD and Revit BOTH have this ability. Inventor seems to be the only Autodesk packaging lacking the ability.

I need to find a way to convert a LOT of ai files, individually, to low res pdf's. Preferably with the presets I want, not some defaults. I'm not interested in an action. I was hoping for a droplet, script, or something similar.
I did find this and it looked promising... [URL] ....
That almost worked. Ultimately, for some reason, it couldn't see the ai files sitting in the specified folder.

I'm trying to find a way to plot multiple (over a thousand) DWG files to PDF without doing each one manually. I've played around a little bit but without any luck. I'm using AutoCAD 2002 LT. Is there any way to do this?
I've also got little to no experience with the more complex settings and abilities of autocad so do so in laymans terms.
2002 lt has no general publish (only publish to web) option and how sheet sets work.

I have 10 separate drawing files that I want to combine into one drawing and I want each drawing to be on a separate layout.I want to end up with one drawing with 10 layout tabs each containing the graphics from one drawing. Each drawing has one layout with the graphics on it.No fancy paper space / model space stuff. No viewport scaling.
I thought this could be done via Design Center but I've never used that.

When I plot from AutoCad to PDF I usually have around 8 A3 drawings in other words 8 A3 paperspace drawings. When I plot these I do each one separately, the process to print the whole lot to PDF in one hit.

I am having a problem plotting drawings as JPEGs. I have used the Page setup manager to select the JPEG plotter and I want to plot only in black and white. Previewing the plotted JPEG looks fine but when I then import the JPEG into a document, line elements appear in grayscale and it appears that only some polylines appear as true black.

New hard drive, had to reinstall LT 2010 (Win XP). Trying to batch plot, going through the normal prompts, little plotter icon in lower right does its thing, then the message says "errors and warnings found". When I open the "plot and publish details", there are no errors or warnings, and the plot file i just attempted does not show up at all. Tried different variations, none work.
The first couple of times i tried it, it seemed there was a problem with the default path for the output file, in the publish options window, as if it could not see the server, but then i would browse, point to the exact same server folder, and it accepted it. Also tried to save the output folder on my c: drive, but still no file. I will need to make this plot file by tomorrow for the client, or i will have to send them 40 individual pdf's.

If there was a way to plot multiple dwg files in a single go all using the same plot settings. Is it possible to do this in AutoCad without having to use another program? I am using AutoCad 2009 LT by the way.
Also, is there a way to save a certain plot setup as the default so that I don't have to switch my page setup to <previous plot> every time I open a new drawing?

Our configuration management tool requires a DWG for our system assembly drawings. A single DWG with all the sheets layed out in a sheet space. Right now I do a "Save As" out of inventor and it creates X number of seperate DWG files and then I stitch them together in AutoCAD by taking each sheet and placing them into a single sheet space (copy paste). My work flow would be much faster if I could get Inventor to create a single sheet space with all the active or selected sheets as a single DWG output.

I have two sheet files (files which reference other drawings/data and contain multiple layouts) which do not plot correctly in a batch. Upon opening the files all profile surfaces (existing and proposed) do not display. I run SYNCHRONIZEREFERENCES to make the profiles show up. I would love a solution to that, but that's a different topic. So now the profiles show up, in all tabs and even in a plot preview. However if I try to run the Publish command and print all tabs to either .pdf, .dwf, or the plotter the profiles do not show up. I must go to each and every tab and plot the sheets individually.

I am having issues batch plotting in LT 2010.
I am using Windows Vista.
I go to the batch plot. Load the drawings I want to plot. I then load the page setup I want to use. None of the files plot. The error says that the device doesn't support the output size.
The weird thing is that I can plot using those same page setups individual files, just not as a batch.

I usually make pdf's by plotting each layout to pdf then combining them with adobe acrobat. Recently i have tried the batch plot to pdf and found that i like it much better but im having a problem with it. I have set up my page sheet manager and have imported my plot sheet settings from a different file. I have checked and double checked that the settings on this file is correct.
My problem is that when i create the batch plot and select the page setup when i create the pdf it cut the left and right side of the page off like there are margins or something. I have created a pdf my plotting to pdf on an individual page and printed it and compared to my batch plot and they are the same scale and size on the paper but the batch plot cuts it off on the sides. I need to get it to print like the plot to pdf so that it is to scale.

When publish is finished, I open any loop drawing and the "IFC" block is NOT present. Can this be done with a script?

I am trying to batch plot to PDF's from a drawing file that has multiple tabs in it. I would like each tab to be a separate PDF file. We are utilizing Acrobat X to write the PDF's. AutoCAD places all of the tabs into one file whether I tell a Multi-sheet file or a Single-sheet file.
