View 9 RepliesI'm trying to set up some new title blocks, I have some "prompted entry" Properties that I want to incorporate, I've got them in the title blocks OK but I can't seem to get em to return a default value, the prompts are all coming in blank when the dialog box comes up. I have set the defaults to what I need on the original ANSI template with the new title block, but when I create a new drawing using that template, the title block comes in without any values set. Is there a way of setting them to return a default value initially that you would change if required, I'm sure I'm missing something very basic!!
Also, in the 'edit property' fields dialog box, there does not seem to be a way of inserting symbols into the value field, have I not turned on the right variable, or missed have I something else??
It's not just the layer that isn't being displayed in the Properties Palette. My 2014 Properties Palette isn't contextual--displays only the general info--none of the object specific information.

View 9 Replies View RelatedSay I click on a line, and then go to the properties inspector to adjust its length. When I scroll down to "geometry" the options are greyed out and I can't adjust them. (see attached image)
It was working fine, and then the other day they were randomly greyed out, and I cant figure out how to get it back to normal. I don't know if I accidentally changed some setting or what, but it's like this on every object I click.
I reinstalled Illustrator CC and for some reason the sync button on the bottom left is greyed out and so is Edit>Sync Settings. I am signed into Creative Cloud.

I want to set up my drawings so that the title block displays properties from the model. I want to set this up so there will be drawing properties to extract into Vault. So I want to know what other Inventor and Vault users are doing to get model properties into Inventor drawings: Using model properties in the title block and nothing to extract in Vault or Copy model properties so Vault has data to extract.
I want to know what the best in class practice is? What are others doing? I do not want to use iLogic I was out of the box Inventor functionality.
Every single time I start AutoCAD 2013 my Properties Pallete's columns reset their size.
I've tried re-saving workspace to a new one. It won't work. It also doesn't matter if I open application using shortcut or by double-clicking DWG file.
Walls are being created on layer A-Wall, in color Cyan, Lineweight .020, etc. I'd like to edit those layer properties. There must be a matrix somewhere that shows a list of all of the Architectural Objects, the layer that each object will be created on, and the properties of those layers. Where in ACA2008 have they hidden this top-secret matrix? I've accessed Layer Key Styles via about 6 different routes, and nowhere do I find a list of Objects. I see that I could define an override for every component of a Wall object in the Style Manager / Display Properties, but it sure would be easier to just change the layer color once, wherever that's defined. There is only one Layer Key Style accessible through Style Manager, and layer A-Wall doesn't appear in that manager- layers A-Wall-Abov, A-Wall-Blow, etc appear, but not A-Wall. Neither does layer A-Glaz, which is where Window objects are placed.
How does a Wall object know to place itself on layer A-Wall, and where are the properties of layer A-Wall defined?
Is there a way of editing the default settings from 16:9 (widescreen) to 4:3?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhat are the best Project Properties settings to choose when starting a project with AVCHD source clips? I may be asking a dumb question here, but I have tried to search the database, and can't find a thread that gives me what I am looking for. My camera is a JVC Everio GZ-HM320B and the clips it records have the following properties:
File Format - NTSC HDMV
Video Type - H.264 Video, Upper Field First
Attributes - 24 bits, 1920 x 1080, 16:9
Frame rate - 29.970 framse/sec
Date rate - Variable bit rate (Max 22599 kbps)
Audio type - Dolby Digital Audio
Attributes - 48000 Hz
Bit rate - 256 kbps
These clip properties were taken out of VS X4 by right clicking a clip and selecting Properties in the menu that popped up. I am concerned that I might be loosing some of the original clip quality when creating a project. I have read elsewhere on this Board that when creating an AVCHD DVD, the best workflow is to choose Create Disk after completing a project, Rather than choosing Create Video File. When I choose Create Disk, the burn module starts by defaulting to LPCM audio, and a Video data rate of 16000 kbps. I know these are adjustable to Dolby sound and up to 18000 kbps Video rate, but I wonder if I choose a different Project Properties setting when I start the project, if I might save some video quality.
then I open a new drawing, put down my assembly and get this:

I am using version 2014 and all the tabs under "Design" are greyed out. I am trying to use the "Insert Frame" function.
Note: Windows 64bit. Recently upgrade from 2013.

I am using IV2009 on Windows 7 64bit. I am somewhat new to Inventor, maybe this is simple.
The Aseembly Panel is greyed out in the model I am working on, see attached. There are also a lot of broken constraints that I am unable to work on becaue the red cross is greyed out also. (I did try open this in IV2012, with the same result on the ribbon assembly panel)
I do not know exactly how it happened, as I did not create it; to my understanding it occurred while restructuring the assembly tree in a lower level assembly. This model is made up of lots of MDT imported parts, and some step parts as well. This model is also very heavy, and took too long for its size to load on my 32GB notebook.
why after creating a new sketch I don't have the ability to use "Project Cut Edges" I am following a model from U-Tube called "LED LAMP". Time stamp 1hour 46 mins . I first Isolated the "Handle" I am creating in my assembly. I am creating a sketch on XY Plane. Then slice graphics. So I can Project Cut Edges on to my model. It is greyed out so it is not available. If I open the part file on its own the command is available to use, but not in my assembly.

This just happened to me this morning, I split a part into a multibody part and as soon as I did the split, the entire design tree got greyed out. It doesnt matter if I have only one body visible or both of them, the tree stays greyed out. I can still edit features but its annoying to not know what is on and whats off. I opened a new file mocked up a quick part with various features performed a split and same results.

When opening a top assembly I have the "Place button" and can place new items into the assembly.
When I open a subassembly from within the top assembly, the place button is greyed out.
When I open the same subassembly directly, not having the top assembly loaded, the place button is back again.
This is a new fenomenon for 2014 and I cannot figure out why the place button suddenly greyes out.
I do not run Vault client although it was installed. The problem remains after having uninstalled the Vault client.
Whenever I edit an Extrude 'cut' feature,(eg: To Add or remove a profile), the OK button is greyed out and no matter what I do, I can't get it back.
The only way to edit the extrusion is to:
Shift EOP
Delete the extrusion
Recreate the extrusion.
Shift EOP
fix errors if any.

I am currently having trouble creating a decal, i have inserted the jpeg image on an ipt file, as i also need to use the .ipt when designing current projects, but when i project the ipt onto a dwg the ipt is just shown as being completley greyed out? i know how to insert the image straight into the DWG file but for what i need it just isnt enough?
Is it possible at all to bring the jpeg image into an ipt. and have it show on the DWG file also.
When I double click on a base view - the option to change view orientation is greyed out. So at the moment, if I make a boo-boo with my base view - I have to delete it and create a new one to get the right orientation. Is this a setting I've missed somewhere - or is it normal behaviour?
When I read in this file: [URL]
It states:
Tip To reset orientation of a drawing view, change the view orientation or rotate the view.
I recently noticed that Channels-settings in both Group Properties and Blending Options are lost when changing a file from 8bit to 16bit and vice versa.

the properties palette started only showing the current properites for the drawing and not the properties of the entity selected. what causes this i am using autocad civil 3d 2013.

Somehow the Properties Palette has gotten less wide- such that I can't read teh actual properties. Previously I was able to make it wider just by hovering over it, clicking on an arrow and dragging it wider. Not now.
View 1 Replies View RelatedA user showed me today that she cannot see any properties for a wall, door, or other AEC object in the Properties palette.
Some options like height, width, etc. are shown, but not layer, style, etc. from the General portion of the Basic tab.
Is this going to be a reinstall scenario or is there a fix for this?
I recently upgraded from LT2013 to LT2014. I never had any issues with 2013, but now seem to be battling with 2014. My OS is Windows 7 Home edition.
When selecting an object and then clicking the properties menu, the properties of the selected object are not displayed, but instead the properties of the selected layer are shown.
In the attached screenshot:
1) My active layer is "AM_VIEWS".
2) The layer of the object that is selected is "MEDIUM".
3) The properties dialog box shows the properties of my active layer and not the selected object.
I am therefore unable to override any settings of the selected object and manually change settings e.g. Linetype, Linetype scale etc.
I recently had to reinstall my AutoCAD LT 2008 and now when I open the properties palette to make adjustments to dimensions and fine tune, many peramiters that used to be visible are no longer there and accessible. I used to be able to adjust the dimscale as needed in the properties window, but can't now. How do I get it back?
