AutoCAD Inventor :: Update Physical Properties From Drawing?
Aug 30, 2011how I can update the physical properties for a part or assembly, from a drawing? My drawing template is showing the total weight for the current part/assembly, and I would love if Inventor could update this using iLogic, so I don't get the "N/A" value all the time.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Update Drawing Properties From Model IProperties Automatically
Jul 1, 2011I like to keep the properties of my drawing the same as those of my model. Currently I must remember to hit the "updat copied properties" button in the drawing to discard any old drawing properties and replace them with the properties from the model.
Is there any way to automate this task (perhaps on saving the drawing?) I presume an iLogic rule could be created in the drawing template, just not sure how to go about it.

Jun 1, 2012Is it possible to change a Parts Only parts list on a drawing into a Structured parts list? When a new parts list is created and you select the view it automatically chooses parts and greys out, preventing you from actually changing it manually. Is it possible to get around this without having to start a new drawing?

Aug 10, 2012I am using inventor 2013, and I have some model and like the word say they are model that i will use as derive parts to machined or change depending on the model. then I make the IDW drawing from the derived part.
Most os this models are assemblies. what i want is to pass the model number to my IDW drawing of the derived, so i can see from which model the part is derived.

Apr 18, 2012Is there a way that we can set the view label in the style library to show custom/user Properties?
We have set our iam/ipt templates to have some custom properties which we wish to display in the view label when the view is created however there this no way to add these properties to the label.
I find this a little strange as you can add these user Properties to the parts list in the style library? (I've added some screen caps to show what I am talking about)
AutoCAD Inventor :: Last Saved By And Last Saved Date Drawing Template Properties
Jul 15, 2013I'm trying to customise my drawing templates to keep them up to date and also include accountability.I seem to be having trouble in including the name of the person who has last saved the model, and the date the model was last saved.
Manually including this information isn't ideal as people will forget, and it makes it harder to trace revisions.I can't see anywhere on the iProperties where the 'Last saved by' feature is available, but I thought maybe the information could be pulled from the username from the application options?
The last saved date should be easy, as there is a modified date in the model's iproperties; however, I cannot pull this information.I have used other cad packages in the past and this was never an issue. With all the customisation of Inventor, I thought this would be relatively straight forward.

Oct 25, 2010I want to set up my drawings so that the title block displays properties from the model. I want to set this up so there will be drawing properties to extract into Vault. So I want to know what other Inventor and Vault users are doing to get model properties into Inventor drawings: Using model properties in the title block and nothing to extract in Vault or Copy model properties so Vault has data to extract.
I want to know what the best in class practice is? What are others doing? I do not want to use iLogic I was out of the box Inventor functionality.

Jul 20, 2012I have installed the autocad ObjectARX 2011 and .Net wizzard to start writing a .Net application for adding custom drawing parameters to all our acad drawings. I have found two issues detailed below. This is my first attempt at using c# with autocad so any pointers on what I am doing wrong will be well received.
1. If add the AcDbMgd.dll and AcMgd.dll references and set copy local to false as the documentation advises then I get a FileNotFoundException, could not load file or assembly 'acdbmgd'. If I set the copy local to true then the error goes away.
2. I tried using the code below to add a paramater but I get an exception on the first line System.TypeLoadException: Method 'CopyTo'.

Jun 7, 2012I have Custom Properties on Drawing File. Naturally it is non-editable. But from AutoCAD When I write Command "DWGPROPS" it can be edited. I does not want it to be edited at any time.

If the current drawing is found to be a member of a sheet set (using sysvar SSFOUND) it cycles through all the sheet in the sheet set looking for a sheet entry that matches. Sometimes a match is not found because the layout name in the SSM does not match the layout name in the current tab (sysvar CTAB). Is there a more directly way...and one that works? I just need a reliable way to get the AcSmSheet object the correlates to the current drawing.

Dec 8, 2009I have created fields in the drawing properties custom fields dialogue box, then inserted those fields into my title block attributes.
Two things I hope to get out of this:
1. link these fields into the drawing property summary, so that I can display the drawing title and other pieces of info in the help strings that appear in windows explorer by simply hovering the cursor over the file.
2. I wish to be able to fill out the information in the title block by data linking it to our drawing lists in access.
AutoCad :: Annotative Block With Dynamic Properties - Add Spot Elevations To Drawing
Jan 8, 2014I created the attached block to add spot elevations to a drawing. The block has attributes allowing elevations to be manually typed in, but also includes many dynamic features for rotation, lengthening, mirroring, etc. The block was created as an annotative block.
The block and all of its features work perfect as long as the dynamic features (rotation, etc) are not used after additional annotative scales are added. I often times have a drawing set at 1:10 or 1:20 scale and need to do an enlarged detail at 1:5.
What I would like to do is have this block set at 1:10 scale and 1:5 scale and manually rotate it (ideally using the dynamic features) at different angles for each scale. Is this possible and if so, why is it not working with this block? This works flawlessly when using annotative multileaders, so why shouldn't it work with blocks or is this just too labor intensive for the software?
I have also tried attsync, etc. and often times when rotating at different annotative scales, the text attributes go "bonkers" for the opposing scale when applying attsync.

Jun 3, 2011I am looking for a way to use the .dwg file properties of a drawing to generate an updateable drawing list/register. One that will update automatically as the file properties are updated. I have already created a title block that uses text fields to display custom properties of the file on my title block, such as the job no., drawing no. etc.
I have searched the web for answers, came across this site, joined and searched through it... There are a number of threads that 'sorta' deal with my needs but alway tend to digress more towards the "poster's" needs and away from mine. I noticed that they all talk about Lisp Routines and I have no knowledge of using them. Is that the only way to go or can I use another route? Another one was the Sheet Set Manager but I don't think that this is exactly what I am looking for...

Jun 25, 2013I'm looking for a method to change the status text in an illustrator drawings' titleblock by changing metadata fields linked to fields in a drawing.
At work we are using SolidWorks EPDM for managing workflows in the engineering and design departments. This includes having the program set the file status texts in titleblocks of drawings/reports. The way this works is that the metadata of a file (Custom properties for SolidWorks and Ms Office files) is changed by EPDM. The Next time the file is opened the fields linked to the metadata are automatically shown the new value. Also if the file is in a read-only state (so non-editors still see and print the correct version of the file).
This method does not work for PDF and AI files since we can not access any properties. This means that our illustrators who design labels,etc. need to open these files themselves and change texts. Even if files are at a stage they should not be modified any more.
