AutoCad :: Copy / Paste Objects From One Layer In First File To Different Layer In Second File
Aug 7, 2013I am using ACAD 2005 and am trying to copy&paste several objects from a layer I created in one .dxf file to one of the 2 standard layers (0 or Defpoints) in a new blank .dxf file.
My problem though is that if I copy and paste all of the objects (or even one of them) and them move to the new file and paste, it pastes the objects, but also "imports" into the new file the original file's layer that these objects were on.
For clarity, the new file only has the 2 standard layers and then after copy/pasting an object, the file manager shows the 3rd layer from the original file.

Nov 5, 2013I'm trying to use iLogic Design Copy to copy an assembly and all its associated parts to another directory. The assembly contains content center parts. Inventor warns me that the destination file of one of the CC parts (and 18 others) will be overwritten. When I go ahead and copy anyway, the copying process stops at that specific CC part. The Design Copy Progress dialog box states there is an error copying that CC part. When I close the Design Copy Progress dialog box, Inventor crashes.
The error copying the CC part: I'm allowed to use content center parts in iLogic Design Copied stuff, right? I searched some related topics and I'm under the impression that Inventor keeps the CC parts in its own directory and shouldn't be trying to overwrite them.

Oct 25, 2010I want to set up my drawings so that the title block displays properties from the model. I want to set this up so there will be drawing properties to extract into Vault. So I want to know what other Inventor and Vault users are doing to get model properties into Inventor drawings: Using model properties in the title block and nothing to extract in Vault or Copy model properties so Vault has data to extract.
I want to know what the best in class practice is? What are others doing? I do not want to use iLogic I was out of the box Inventor functionality.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Copying Properties From Assembly To Parts
Dec 13, 2012When I make a drawing, often times page 1 will be the entire assembly and in subsequent pages (sheets), I will dimension each individual component, etc. In the "Name" field in my title block, I have it grabbing the "Title" and "Subject" iProperties. Just so happens, those fields are ALWAYS the same for each part as it is for the assembly.
What is the best way I can either
A) AUTOMATICALLY copy the "Title" and "Subject" iProperty fields from the assembly to EACH part that makes it up
or even BETTER
B) AUTOMATICALLY copy the "Title" and "Subject" information from sheet 1 to the same place on all subsequent sheets
Or BEST
C) Have the title block template pull that data from the assembly, EVEN IF only a singloe part is on the sheet.

Jun 3, 2011I am looking for a way to use the .dwg file properties of a drawing to generate an updateable drawing list/register. One that will update automatically as the file properties are updated. I have already created a title block that uses text fields to display custom properties of the file on my title block, such as the job no., drawing no. etc.
I have searched the web for answers, came across this site, joined and searched through it... There are a number of threads that 'sorta' deal with my needs but alway tend to digress more towards the "poster's" needs and away from mine. I noticed that they all talk about Lisp Routines and I have no knowledge of using them. Is that the only way to go or can I use another route? Another one was the Sheet Set Manager but I don't think that this is exactly what I am looking for...

Mar 5, 2013I have a folder that contains subfolders, then more subfolders. All these folders contain Inventor files. There are few different models there with drawings and related files...
I need to make an exact copy of the folder at different location in Vault. To use Copy Design tool, I would need to do it few times, as there are few totally separate files in the folders.
Now, is there a way of taking main folder with its all contants and just copying/renaming it to other location? It would save me lot of time.

Oct 1, 2011I am using R14 which suits my hobby needs which are drawing model parts for photo-etching. I have started a new drawing for which I need parts from an earlier drawing.
The only way I have found to complete this task is copying to the clipboard, then pasting to the new drawing. I then find that I have an assembly rather than a collection of lines and circles etc and modification is not possible, eg, substituting a larger diameter or deleting one part of the drawing.

Jan 15, 2013I am not able to change the color of a layer in one of my drawing files. When I make a new layer in the drawing file it is the same color as the layer above it (as it should be) but I am unable to change the color in the new layer either.
I can change colors in other drawing files on this computer. The color of a layer can be changed if I open the drawing file on another computer.
If the drawing is "save as" to a new file name and the new drawing is opened, it still will not change the color of a layer.
If the drawing is "save as" on the computer that will allow the color to be change and opened on this computer it will not allow the color of the layer to be changed.

Mar 6, 2013Our department currently uses MS Paint to place varied colored boxes for call outs on top of screen figures used in our documentation. As you know, MS Paint is not a robust image editing application, and we are frustrated at its limitations (especially not having a "non-destructive" edit capability).
Consequently, we are evaluating a trial version of PS to see how a workflow could be developed that would allow the department to use call out boxes "stored" in a PS file that could be applied in an easy, consistent manner to our screen figures (but also keep each call out box editable) using PS.
Consequently, in PS using the shape tool, I created a file with our colored boxes for call outs, each on its own layer. Now I am trying to determine how you copy and paste a box (or layer) from this file to a "working" file (one containing a screen figure), while keeping all of its attributes (color, line weight, being editable, etc.). I can't seem to find an option to do this. Is there? If not, is there another workflow in PS that you can recommend for this type of procedure?

Apr 19, 2011There is an error "Corrupted memory" when on several machines executing some code. I know the error is in the wblockcloneobjects from drawing A to drawing B.
The strange thing about this error is:
We have 6 computers with Civil and Autocad.
Some users have no errors at all.
Some people only errors when executing it in Civil, som only when executing it in Autocad, some have it in both.
This is almost a copy of the VB.NET sample from autodesk.

Aug 1, 2013I have two drawings: one with lines, and one which includes maps (raster image) and point cloud of latitudes of the same area (elevation in meters). I'm trying to copy these lines from the other drawing into the map-drawing, but when I'm trying drag and drop, the mouse doesn't even go to the other drawing. I also made a block of the lines and tried to insert it, but it doesn't work either.

Mar 24, 2013We used Furix BetterWMF 2013 to copy our drawings from AutoCAD 2013 to Word 2007. Never had a problem till we upgraded to 2013 for both products. Now when we paste the drawing into Word (for our product manuals) any Ohm symbols turn into Question marks.
I'm assuming the problem is not AutoCAD, as it displays correctly there.
