VideoStudio :: AVCHD Project Properties Settings
Oct 10, 2011What are the best Project Properties settings to choose when starting a project with AVCHD source clips? I may be asking a dumb question here, but I have tried to search the database, and can't find a thread that gives me what I am looking for. My camera is a JVC Everio GZ-HM320B and the clips it records have the following properties:
File Format - NTSC HDMV
Video Type - H.264 Video, Upper Field First
Attributes - 24 bits, 1920 x 1080, 16:9
Frame rate - 29.970 framse/sec
Date rate - Variable bit rate (Max 22599 kbps)
Audio type - Dolby Digital Audio
Attributes - 48000 Hz
Bit rate - 256 kbps
These clip properties were taken out of VS X4 by right clicking a clip and selecting Properties in the menu that popped up. I am concerned that I might be loosing some of the original clip quality when creating a project. I have read elsewhere on this Board that when creating an AVCHD DVD, the best workflow is to choose Create Disk after completing a project, Rather than choosing Create Video File. When I choose Create Disk, the burn module starts by defaulting to LPCM audio, and a Video data rate of 16000 kbps. I know these are adjustable to Dolby sound and up to 18000 kbps Video rate, but I wonder if I choose a different Project Properties setting when I start the project, if I might save some video quality.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Default Settings For Prompted Entry Properties
Aug 12, 2009I'm trying to set up some new title blocks, I have some "prompted entry" Properties that I want to incorporate, I've got them in the title blocks OK but I can't seem to get em to return a default value, the prompts are all coming in blank when the dialog box comes up. I have set the defaults to what I need on the original ANSI template with the new title block, but when I create a new drawing using that template, the title block comes in without any values set. Is there a way of setting them to return a default value initially that you would change if required, I'm sure I'm missing something very basic!!
Also, in the 'edit property' fields dialog box, there does not seem to be a way of inserting symbols into the value field, have I not turned on the right variable, or missed have I something else??

Jan 20, 2012Problem I was having was using clips of various sizes and properties in the same project. Original entry follows below.
I have a new system (see my profile) that I think should work with Pro X4 just great.
However, I had some AVI videos I tried to edit. I could not get frame resolution in the time line, as I remembered getting with older Corel products editing MPEG files.
Nevertheless, I was able to edit AVI and get good results as long as the AVI files did not have sound. When I tried to edit AVI with sound, preview was unusable. The transitions got lost during the preview, and the sound dropped out around cuts and splices and transitions.
Needless to say, editing did not go well without a decent preview. Are these artifacts of trying to edit AVI files, or is there something else amiss? Should I be capturing in MPEG or some format other than AVI?
The following settings seemed to get the best preview results, but I still had sound drop outs around cuts, splices, and transitions (which are splices). I expected the sound to x-fade around transitions.
NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Upper Field First
(DVD-NTSC), 16:9
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 6000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 384 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 3/2(L,C,R,SL,SR)
I set the project to MPEG, even though the source was AVI, because it seemed to improve the preview response time a bit, but not enough to make a real difference.
VideoStudio :: Project Properties And Field Order
Jul 9, 2013When a video is loaded does it make a difference for the output what the project properties is set to, standard the project properties is always mpeg in my Videostudio X5, while i am editing avi or mp4 etc..?
Is there a way to see which field order a video has like progressive of upper field etc? Right click the video file in Studio does not give the answer. When i open mediainfo or another like gspot i do also not see field order yet maybe under a different name there is: progressive but is that frame beased, UFF or LFF?
VideoStudio :: X4 Project Properties Cannot Match Source Video
Mar 20, 2011In VS X4 we do not have the ability to match the project properties to the specs of the source video. When editing "project properties", we only have two choices for compression (NTSC DVD and PAL DVD) which only allow a maximum resolution of 720. In X2 we had many more choices which included MPEG-2 where we could get up to 1920.
I thought it was rule number one to match the project properties to the source video. Maybe that is not so important anymore, but snapshots for freeze frames must be done in project mode to include any attributes. The resulting snapshot is the resolution of the project properties and therefore not the same as the orignal video. Once rendered, it will not look the same as it's parent frame. Maybe freeze frames are not important to anyone else, but they are to me.
I shoot with a Canon HV20, so I need 1440x1080. I have created an empty project in X2 with the correct properties that I use to start projects in X3 and X4. X4 appears to maintain the project properties once they are set.

Feb 2, 2012If I have multiple project files (.VSP) with different properties, can I batch process the individual files to their own respectful files? That is, if A.vsp is a HD edited video file, B.vsp is a SD file, C.vsp is a SD with different bit rate and screen ratio, etc, can I batch render all the files while they keep their respective properties (Same As First Video Clip)?

Oct 20, 2011As I updated to a new camcorder (Sony HDR-CX130) and computer, I have a question about VS X4, that I am using.VS X4 is presented being a kind od ideal editing HD/AVCHD. I started to edit my MPEG-2_TS files with the presumption that I really was editing in HD. It goes quite well on my new PC, without Smart Proxy turned on! In the future I want to burn them on BlueRay-disks. Therefore I want to save my new projects in HD-mode.
But then I took a Look at the Project Properties and it is defaulted to MPEG-files 720x576 pix; SD-resolution. It seems that it is not possible to insert a Full-HD template or Full-HD-matching parameters. Media-type can't be changed to anything else then PAL-DVD.
One other issue then is that I use to use slow-motion and stills in my video-projects, for action-shots. Then I saw also that the stills (Snapshots token using 'Edit>Snapshot' (Correct? I use the dutch version)) don't have 1920x1080 pix, but 1024x576 pixels instead.
I searched the forum and found this topic about the project properties vis-a-vis HD-editing: URL....As far understood, the projectproperties don't matter that much, all material will be rendered Full-HD (upscaled?) in the share-step when selecting BluRay-disc or AVCHD-Video File. Then my questions:
- What is then the use of Smart Proxy and the Project Properties-Dialogue?
- Will the stills be upscaled, so they integrate seamlessly in the endresult?
- Is there a way to change the videostill/snapshot resolution to Full HD?

May 21, 2011I have just installed trial of VideoStudio Pro X4 and have owned the X2 version for some time already. Although I can always save a video file in HD format (1920x1180) I think it's best if the 'Project Settings' are already at this resolution. I was always able to set project resolution in version X2 but seems I can't in the new version X4. I think it's because I can only set the 'media type' to DVD in version X4. see attached picture. Is this because I only have trial version or is there less functionality in the new version?

May 14, 2013My camera films in AVCHD 1080, 25fps. I currently use VideoStudeo x6. i have been using it for a while and when i export for youtube videos, i find its only quality video when you change the youtube video to HD. Is there a way to set the video, so its still crisp and clear at 360p/480p, as i find its always distorted at these levels, although the footage is amazing in hd. What are the exact project properties i should set and the file export settings.
I am fully aware of the settings for youtube, however is it because iam filming in AVCHd i cant get that clean crisp look at lower levels on youtube? as the best setting for youtube are mpeg files. for reference please check this video i did: [URL]......
VideoStudio :: Setting Default Project Preferences
Nov 9, 2012Elsewhere in the forum I have a topic about sound echo, and a fix was to render a clip using the same project properties it was recorded with, at least regarding audio.
When I load X5, without a project or clip in the timeline - the project preference audio format is LPCM even tho the camcorder I use records dolby audio. I can open and edit the project preferences to change LPCM to dolby, and I can also check settings/enable 5.1 surround sound which does the same thing, but that setting won't survive an X5 program close. One would think that editing the properties like that and selecting OK at the end, the changes would have been saved and become the default. But when I next open X5, the project audio is again set LPCM.
As part of investigating the echo issue I uninstalled and re-installed X5 without any impact on the audio issues, which includes this one.
How can I set the project settings for audio so that the default is dolby and it lasts thru a close and the next X5 open?

May 28, 2011I'm trying to match the project settings to an imported HD video clip (1920x1080 *.mts).I've been using videoStudio for years but only in 720x480 SD. I just got a Panasonic HDC-SDT750PP HD camera and want to make sure the video output file makes the most out of both camera and X3 but in project settings it only allows 720x480.
Does the project setting have any affect on the final video file?The properties of the video file says 1920x1080 24b H264 yet the source file extension is *.mts
My intention is to create a HD video file that I burn to a Hybrid DVD until I get a Blu-ray burner but what format to save the file in if the X3 project setting only goes to 720x480.

Aug 22, 2011I've built a project up with several smaller project file components. It's an easier way to create a video than editing one big project.
Opening the overall project and running it on screen is not a problem. However, when I try to create a smart package of the composite project, I get a consistent error message rejecting the process because of the existence of the component vsp's.
Is there a way to avoid the error and create a smart package from a project file that has smaller component project files?

Jul 14, 2012Basically a project could contain one idw file, or it could contain 20 idw files or 100 or more.
Our titleblock has about 12 entries of project information that will be consistent on all sheets whether that's one sheet or a 1000 sheets.
Is there a way to link an excel file to each idw? (I'm pretty sure not : ) ) or some way to have a central repositor for those properties so that if something changes, we don't have to go back and change each idw?
I have seen the drawing transfer management wizard, but it seems like overkill to a situation that has to have existed a long time - that being needing customer info on a titleblock. Seems like it'd be the perfect think for linking an excell file or having actual properties in the project file.
Revit :: Unable To See Project Browser Or Properties Box
May 3, 2013Having just download a free trial and being very new to revit--I notice when I open revit and the project I have been working on I can see faintly and briefly the properties and project browser box but they disappear as it's opening and I cannot figure out how to get them on my screen.
Did I hide them somehow with out realizing it? Â Where do I go to get them back on my screen again?Â

Nov 18, 2013I am running Architecture 2014 (PrDS-U) on a Windows8 Pro N.
In Architecture I am a frequent user of the Project Navigator.
After moving to W8, I find that I can not edit Project properties, neither from Project Browser nor the Navigator.
The project resides on my local C:VCC and the folder is being shared on my network. It is not write protected. Everyone has full access.
Others who are connected to the share can edit the project, they are running Windows 7. I cannot.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Created Project - No Access To The Figure Properties
Mar 7, 2013Recently I upgraded to 2013 and I been having some issues with my survey DB, first of all I created a base data shortcuts project template folder with all my folders and a default Survey DB.
once I create my project, and import points to the default DB, I have no access to the Figure Properties. Is this feature, that worked in 11 & 12 now broken in 13? I have gone into the setting and copied a new files to the folder several times, to no avail, and there are no other versions of C3D on this machine.
So now that I have my points in the drawing, I go to translate them to my survey, generally I will utilize line in the drawing between field data, and platted data to translate and rotate to the platted lot or lots and the work from there on any calcs or changes. However, when my OSNAP toolbar is docked and locked and I go to select a point line the midpoint, I have no access to the OSNAPS. This also, worked in 11 & 12, but seems broken in 13.

Should I select a large dimension using inches as a ratio (such as 8" x 10"), or should I use a resolution preset (such as 1024 x 768)? I'll be using 300ppi and I'm using photoshop cs2.

Mar 21, 2013As I am creating drawings for parts/assemblies, I have to fill out the customers name and the job number which I currently do on every drawing I create by right clicking on the Drawing name in the tree, going to iProperties, and then filling out the fields I need.
I have to do this for every sheet. Sometimes over 100 sheets per job.
Is there a way, within the project file maybe, to have these fields be already filled in with the customers name and job number?Â
Every new project file I make is a new customer. So I'm wondering if there is someway to tweak the project file.

AutoCAD Architecture :: Where To Change Settings For Layer Properties For AEC Objects
Feb 15, 2011Walls are being created on layer A-Wall, in color Cyan, Lineweight .020, etc. I'd like to edit those layer properties. There must be a matrix somewhere that shows a list of all of the Architectural Objects, the layer that each object will be created on, and the properties of those layers. Where in ACA2008 have they hidden this top-secret matrix? I've accessed Layer Key Styles via about 6 different routes, and nowhere do I find a list of Objects. I see that I could define an override for every component of a Wall object in the Style Manager / Display Properties, but it sure would be easier to just change the layer color once, wherever that's defined. There is only one Layer Key Style accessible through Style Manager, and layer A-Wall doesn't appear in that manager- layers A-Wall-Abov, A-Wall-Blow, etc appear, but not A-Wall. Neither does layer A-Glaz, which is where Window objects are placed.
How does a Wall object know to place itself on layer A-Wall, and where are the properties of layer A-Wall defined?
