AutoCAD Inventor :: Custom Title Block Properties Based On Project File?

Mar 21, 2013

As I am creating drawings for parts/assemblies, I have to fill out the customers name and the job number which I currently do on every drawing I create by right clicking on the Drawing name in the tree, going to iProperties, and then filling out the fields I need.

I have to do this for every sheet. Sometimes over 100 sheets per job.

Is there a way, within the project file maybe, to have these fields be already filled in with the customers name and job number?

Every new project file I make is a new customer. So I'm wondering if there is someway to tweak the project file.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Title Block - How To Put Custom Properties In Order

Nov 7, 2011

When I input data into title block I want to go Field txt->custom and have some rows multiple, in repeating order, I don't have control over that.

Example:

I want:

first row: rev #,
second row: by,
third row rev #,
fourth row: by,
and so on.

Right now I created prompt line "rev (1)", "by (1)", "rev (2)" and so on, but this still wont show the right order in custom props.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Custom Title Block Position?

Jun 19, 2012

I have created a custom title block and border for one of the automotive manufacturers since I need to submit all their drawings in the standard border and title block format. The border is quite broad, so when I insert the new title block, it overlaps the border slightly. I need to try and find the setting to control the exact point at which the title block is positioned when inserted into a drawing.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Custom Title Block Information

Feb 13, 2013

I've argued this repeatedly with the powers that be at my small company and they're set on some old methods that I'm trying to figure out how to make happen.

We often have weldments where we do an assembled view on page 1 and balloon it and have a parts list. Pages 2-4 will be the details of the welded parts. On page 1, I bring in the "Title" and "Subject" fields from the assembly iProperties.

Here's the tricky part. On pages 2+, I don't want to bring in those two fields, I want to bring in something different. Is it possible to differentiate like that?

Second part of the question: is there a way to pull the balloon item number from page 1 into a field somewhere on following pages? For example: page 3 may show the details for "item 2". Can I bring the value of that balloon (item 2) into page 3 somehow?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Adding Custom Title Block?

Aug 8, 2012

I would like to add a custom title block template that I created to my Inventor open new drawing dialoge box. I know of the regular way to accomplish this by adding the custom title block to the templates folder in the Inventor folder on my C drive but what I would like to do is somehow link the template to my Inventor templates folder while keeping it in it's current location so that others and myself have access to the latest version of it due to the fact that it is a working document and will be updated periodically.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Title Block Creation - Picture Not Located In Current Project

Dec 6, 2011

Age old question; Title Block Creation.

I took an existing title block out of another document and pasted it into my 'standard.idw' file, modified it, made it the default title block and it looks pretty good. Problem is, having saved the 'standard.idw' file it saved it under a project header and now everytime I open said new drawing I get the error that it is not part of my existing project. Obviously.

Is there a way to create this file, with my new title block and not get this error, supress or have it projectless?

Also, with that in mind my other problem, which I am sure is related, is that I put an image in my title block, which gives me e error that my picture is not located in the current project. Currently I bypass that one by hitting skip and it still retains my image, which is fine.

These two things together are slight annoying but I can live with it until I deduce a way to kill these errors.

AutoCad :: Attribute In Title Block Exists In Block Editor But Not In Project

Sep 6, 2012

Autocad 2011, Electrical package,

I have an existing title block a few text attributes, to which I wish to add a watermark. I have added it in the block editor as a normal attribute, with the same details as the other attributes that work, only a different tag name. It has a default value, "DRAFT" and is tagged "WMARK". It works fine in the Block Editor, and If I test the block I can edit it to display whatever I want, but if I save the block and open it from Autocad proper, the attribute is not in existence, either as a default value, or editable from block properties, attribute editor or title block editor, whereas all of the other attributes are there. I have used BattMan to verify the settings of the attribute, and the only difference is that the others all have "L" in the "Modes" column, but I think that means that their position is "locked" whereas my new attribute is justified "aligned" therefore cannot be "locked" (This is some assumption on my part, as the documentation on the "Modes" column is almost non-existent). I cannot afford to waste much more time on this issue, as the boss is breathing down my neck, but editing watermarks on every drawing after every revision is frustrating, when it could be an attribute that is editable from the title block editor.

Two things I hope to get out of this:

2. I wish to be able to fill out the information in the title block by data linking it to our drawing lists in access.

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Block Insertion Routine Based On Block File Name

Apr 5, 2013

Create a routine that looks for a block based on a portion of that block name, using a specified path or search path.

For example, block to search for is BLOCKABC123, so if someone inputs ABC or 123 as a block name, it will locate that block within that folder and inserts it into the drawing at a user specified location.

Ideally, if there is a check in that if it finds more than one match, then perhaps it flags or prompts you to choose 1, 2, or 3 option which block to use.  But I can live without this special function if it requires too much time to code.

AutoCAD Architecture :: Project Fields In Title Block Sheet Template

Jun 26, 2012

I've created a sheet template that includes Fields to populate the sheet with the Project Name and location among others like scale, etc. When I create the new sheet in the project navigator most of the fields populate with the correct information based on the parameters set in the project. However, it consistantly does not populate the Project name and location. When I click the field and ensure that the attribute is set correctly then it renders the correct information. The problem is this ends up being a manual operation yet it still reads as a smart tag. Why do these not populate automatically?

Here's my process:

Create dwt for sheet file and include xref of title block.

Create a block with attributes that link to AEC Project, CurrentSheetTitle, etc. and insert into dwt.

In project navigator I create new sheet and select my template.

Information does not populate.

But when I view the block and close (no edits) it then links.

AutoCAD Inventor :: VBA Replace Title Block Definitions In Drawing From Template File

May 7, 2013

I have some code to replace the current title block with a title block from a template file. I just don't like how it adds a new title block definition named "copy of titleblock". I'd like to delete or replace the current title block definition so only the newly added one is listed.

Sub test() Dim odrawdoc As DrawingDocument Set odrawdoc = ThisApplication.ActiveDocument If (odrawdoc.DocumentType <> kDrawingDocumentObject) Then Exit Sub Dim oTemplate As DrawingDocument Dim oSourceTitleBlockDef As TitleBlockDefinition Dim oNewTitleBlockDef As TitleBlockDefinition Dim oSheet As Sheet Set oTemplate = ThisApplication.Documents.Open(ThisApplication.FileOptions.TemplatesPath & "template.idw", False) Set oSourceTitleBlockDef = oTemplate.ActiveSheet.TitleBlock.Definition Set oNewTitleBlockDef = oSourceTitleBlockDef.CopyTo(odrawdoc) ' Iterate through the sheets. For Each oSheet In odrawdoc.Sheets oSheet.Activate oSheet.TitleBlock.Delete Call oSheet.AddTitleBlock(oNewTitleBlockDef) Next oTemplate.CloseEnd Sub

I'm just being picky at this point, but I don't want a buildup of title block definitions. We reuse drawings all the time which is why a simple method of updating a title block would be nice. I can just imagine in some years time after a title block update or two there are 20 "copy of copy of copy of .................. titleblock" listed in a drawing file.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Any Way / Method Of Doing Overall Project Properties

Jul 14, 2012

Basically a project could contain one idw file, or it could contain 20 idw files or 100 or more.

Our titleblock has about 12 entries of project information that will be consistent on all sheets whether that's one sheet or a 1000 sheets.

Is there a way to link an excel file to each idw? (I'm pretty sure not : ) ) or some way to have a central repositor for those properties so that if something changes, we don't have to go back and change each idw?

I have seen the drawing transfer management wizard, but it seems like overkill to a situation that has to have existed a long time - that being needing customer info on a titleblock. Seems like it'd be the perfect think for linking an excell file or having actual properties in the project file.

AutoCad :: Part File Location In Title Block?

Aug 15, 2012

I’m trying to save myself a bit of time and was wondering if it is possible to have part of the file location displayed in the title block?

The current title block we are using shows the full file location of the drawing but I was wondering if it is possible to show only part of this?

The reason I am asking is that when a project progresses to the next stage we have to go through each drawing and change the status to warrant, tender, construction etc. so I am looking for a way that this can be done automatically and I was thinking if only part of the file location could be used this process could be done by simply moving the drawings to the next folder? Our projects folders are split down in to subfolders for planning, warrant, tender etc. which corresponds with the status field on your layout. So instead of having to update this status manually every time the project progresses this would update to the folder that the drawings are in.

Example:
I:Projects## - Project TitleDrawingsConstructionGround Floor Plan.dwg

Am trying to get the "Construction" folder to display in the status field on the layout.
