Feb 15, 2011Walls are being created on layer A-Wall, in color Cyan, Lineweight .020, etc. I'd like to edit those layer properties. There must be a matrix somewhere that shows a list of all of the Architectural Objects, the layer that each object will be created on, and the properties of those layers. Where in ACA2008 have they hidden this top-secret matrix? I've accessed Layer Key Styles via about 6 different routes, and nowhere do I find a list of Objects. I see that I could define an override for every component of a Wall object in the Style Manager / Display Properties, but it sure would be easier to just change the layer color once, wherever that's defined. There is only one Layer Key Style accessible through Style Manager, and layer A-Wall doesn't appear in that manager- layers A-Wall-Abov, A-Wall-Blow, etc appear, but not A-Wall. Neither does layer A-Glaz, which is where Window objects are placed.
How does a Wall object know to place itself on layer A-Wall, and where are the properties of layer A-Wall defined?

AutoCAD LT :: 2014 - Properties Box Does Not Display Properties Of Selected Object
Jun 6, 2013I recently upgraded from LT2013 to LT2014. I never had any issues with 2013, but now seem to be battling with 2014. My OS is Windows 7 Home edition.
When selecting an object and then clicking the properties menu, the properties of the selected object are not displayed, but instead the properties of the selected layer are shown.
In the attached screenshot:
1) My active layer is "AM_VIEWS".
2) The layer of the object that is selected is "MEDIUM".
3) The properties dialog box shows the properties of my active layer and not the selected object.
I am therefore unable to override any settings of the selected object and manually change settings e.g. Linetype, Linetype scale etc.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Properties / Quick Properties Won't Display?
Sep 10, 2013For the last couple weeks I've been unable to view object properties or quick properties. If I right click on an object and select quick properties, a blank window comes up:
Similarly, if I bring up a properties window and select an object, the selection field remains blank and the object property fields are not populated with information relating to the selected object:

Jul 10, 2012When I select any object, my quick properties tab is blank and my properties tab doesn't register anything. Also, I get an error message when I go into my CUI to try to modify the quick properties tab. Pretty frustrating. I've attached a couple of images for reference. I've repaired, re-installed and unistalled and re-installed and still have the same probelm.

AutoCAD Architecture :: Properties For AEC Objects Not Displaying In Properties Palette?
Jan 16, 2012A user showed me today that she cannot see any properties for a wall, door, or other AEC object in the Properties palette.
Some options like height, width, etc. are shown, but not layer, style, etc. from the General portion of the Basic tab.
Is this going to be a reinstall scenario or is there a fix for this?

Mar 2, 2011I recently upgraded to a new computer and CAD Civil 3D 2011. I have always had it set up to when I selected a node the attributes (description, point number, etc..) for it would show up in the properties. Now I can only view them by double clicking the node. Is there a way to get them to display in the properties again?

Jan 24, 2012I'm trying to figure out two things that have changed:
1) Lets say i create a polyline, lets say its 15 inches long. I used to be able to click on it and have the length show up in my properties. it no longer does that.
2) Lets say i create a polyline, it's green and has a dot pattern. I decided i wanted to change it to yellow and hidden pattern. I can no longer select the line and change it under the properties, it will change it in properties, but not on my screen. then when i draw a new line it will be yellow and hidden. I end up having to matchprop to make it work.

Jul 9, 2012I'm having trouble getting mass properties of an assembly to display in an .idw. I've tried it 2 diffent ways, custom properties-model "Totalmass" where I type the mass and physical properties-model "mass" where it's automatic with update.. Nothing shows, not even N/A, but in another idw (different assembly) it works. Both text boxes are saved within a sketch that is part of a template. Both idw's use the same template. If I place text on the drawing it self it works.

Oct 30, 2012I am trying to get back some of my work that was "lost" when a crash accured. I had 16 blocks (all the same) inserted into my map at the correct locations. I recovered the drawing but noticed that the blocks weren't displaying. I conducted a quick select for the layer which they're on; it stated 16 items were selected (but they are not displaying). While they are still "selected" I checked the properties & it stated all the correct information (quantity, block name, color, layer, scale, etc...). I made sure all layers associated with the block were not frozen. So it's acting as though they're still in the drawing, but aren't displaying...

Mar 14, 2012I have created a display theme style and legend with custom theme names (i.e. SECURITY, etc.). I have changed the themes display properties to what I want (i.e. ANSI31, blue, etc.).
I have also created space styles with the same custom names (i.e. SECURITY, etc.).
When I create a space with a custom space style the display properties do not match the theme. I am hoping to find a way to have the space style display properties change when I change theme display properties. How do I get these items associated? Is it possible?

We want to allow users to add their own unique ID to all their drawn objects, and we don't want to use Entity Handle as that is not anything we can choose ;-)
We're using that ID to connect other datasources (ODBC) to Navisworks and we would like it to work even from AutoCAD, even though we have Civil 3D inhouse.

AutoCad 2D :: Missing Properties Of Objects In Architecture
Apr 26, 2013I used architecture on my pc. I installed Autocad on another pc with the same Serial code. I can see on the top that my version suddenly is a Educational version. I'm telling you this because i don't know if this is the reason of my problem.
The problem: i can't see the properties of an object when i use autocad architecture in the educational version.
For example: I make a wall and i place a window in the wall. Now i want to change the width of my window, using the properties bar. SO i click on my window (right mouse button) and click on PROPERTIES. It opens the properties bar BUT i can't see the window and his properties. At the top of the properties bar it says "No selection".. How can this be when i begin with the right mouse click on my window?
When i do it in the other direction: Open properties (ctrl+1) first and then select for example my wall, still nothing changes in the properties bar!
Revit :: Unable To See Project Browser Or Properties Box
May 3, 2013Having just download a free trial and being very new to revit--I notice when I open revit and the project I have been working on I can see faintly and briefly the properties and project browser box but they disappear as it's opening and I cannot figure out how to get them on my screen.
Did I hide them somehow with out realizing it? Where do I go to get them back on my screen again?

Sep 24, 2013My company have decided to use plain autocad as the base instead of Civil3D. Since this been done im missing information in the properties pallet.
The information im interested is shown in attachment properties 1 (This is from Civil3d). In the properties pallet in plain autocad this information is missing se attachment Properties 2 (From plain autocad).
Is there any way to reach this information in plain autocad. This is in autocad 2014.
3ds Max :: Import Objects To Load Their Correct Material Properties?
Feb 24, 2014I have a problem trying to import objects to load their correct material properties. The textures are all there but I have to reset there specular properties everytime. Even if I import the same object straight after I export it with the materials properly set, I still have to reset them all over again. Is there a setting somewhere like in Customize that I can change to make the objects maintain their properties on import?

Jan 6, 2013I am about to write the function using Overrule API to temporary override object’s colour to ByLayer for all entities in the drawing.
At this moment I just have simple class for testing (just to check if it is possible) and so far I can see problem with complex entities.
Entities such as Line, Polyline even BlockReferences work fine but complex objects like HATCH, MTEXT and LEADER do not change colour as set in SetAttribute method.
Below is simple class I was testing.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Unable To Get Physical Properties Notation?
Oct 17, 2012I have some issues with the notation for physical properties in the Inventor 2013 material editor.
Instead of displaying the obvious first choice metric SI notation kg/m^3 or something similar it display a self made? and awkward N*s^2/mm^4. I don't want this notation. How can I change to something more user friendly? It can be a bit hard to distinguish if a material have 0.00000000001 N*s^2/mm^4 or 0.0000000001 N*s^2/mm^4.
The document properties "units" folder have mm, seconds, degree and kilogram as default.
