Why do the Fillet and Chamfer commands sometimes inexplicably require three clicks to execute? At "Select First Object", the first line I select doesn't highlight, and is ignored. The second pick selects the first line to be filleted, the third pick performs the fillet. There's no predictability to when this happens. Does this happen to others?
View 1 RepliesUsing ACAD2013, any command I try to execute requires two clicks. This specifically occurs with transformational commands - i.e. offset, rotate, mirror, but not line. For example I will enter the "OFFSET" command and hit enter, however instead of prompting me to input my OFFSET variables I will have to hit enter again and then enter the requisite variables. In effect I have to hit enter twice to execute any command of this sort. I have already tried changing my PICKFIRST settings, and AUTOCOMPLETE. I'm at a loss.

I may have maladjusted some other setting. Operator error for sure. I do not need to use these functions for anything else but the 3 shown in the attachment.
We are trying to apply a chamfer / fillet, anywhere betwen 0.5mm - 1.00mm, to the attached ACAD 2004 / ACAD 2012, 3D model, along the edges connectiing from the existing chamfer / fillet, up each side to the top - where you will see there is no chamfer / fillet - (the outside of the cup profile,Attachment 34929 Attachment 34928not the inside of the cup profile).
That resolved the problem, the software struggled a bit with filleting till we tried a smaller degree, then it worked - we thought it would automatically fillet (flow) in / out according to what dims were available.
I am working on someone else's file, using CAD2010..For many lines, Chamfer & Fillet commands do not work, "lines are non coplanar "..In the Properties, all Z = 0
I tried Flatten, nothing changed.
I'm trying to create these rounded divots in a solid. However the only way I know how to get this sort of shape is with a revolved PLINE - which I of course can't use to subtract material from my regular old box.
The shape I want is something like this: (the 2D is a profile of what I want in the end, a divot in a box)
ACA 2013: We have notice that autodesk has added a quick preview for fillet and offset. It shows what the fillet is going to look like or what the offset is going to be. Is there a way to turn this off?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create blocks which will be used in multiple drawings for Gridlines and detail marks.
These blocks are basically a circle with an attribute in the centre, and once created as a block are annotive as they will be displayed in multiple viewports.
I can create the block with attribute fine using the "block" command which then allows me to make the block annotive ( The "wblock" command dose not allow this )
However when I insert the block into a drawing I need to explode the block before I can edit the attribute ( even though I explode the block it's still actually blocked )
It's as if the block has been blocked twice?
I have a problem with shortcut keys in inventor 2013.Example:
-In 2012 when pressing "s", it would create sketch.
-In 2013 when pressing "s", it needs enter/spacebar to confirm that sketch creation.
I can't seem to find a setting that changes this, or a thread here on the forums describing anything about this. Only threads about shortcuts suddenly not working anymore, which is not the problem for me at this moment.
Why does the Round() function require that the number of decimal places be either a number or an object if you want to use a variable? It seems that a Single should work here, but iLogic won't accept it.
See sample code below which is rounding off dimension values. If I dim the variable "somenumber" as Single or Double, I get this error message from the Round() function: "Overload resolution failed because no accessible 'Round' can be called without a narrowing conversion."
When I dim "somenumber" as an object it works, but this seems unnecessary when all it is storing is a single digit number. Why wouldn't Single or Double work for this variable?

If regsvr32 registers my AddIn DLL why does the .AddIn file require the Assembly item?
It seems to me that the path to my DLL is duplicated. It is present in the call to RegSrv32 as well as in the .AddIn file.
I may be missing something vital of course...
I have AutoCAD 2012 LT, and I have noticed something a bit strange. If I double click (or accidentally click twice) on the main menu (the "A" in the upper left corner), AutoCAD quits. It doesn't actually crash; if I have unsaved edits it asks me if I want to save them, and if I hit "cancel", the program keeps running, but it is a bit of an annoyance. Is this a bug or a feature?
View 5 Replies View RelatedProblem: When doing a series of rapid mouse clicks, Autocad does not always register the clicks. For example, I'll use move, and when clicking on a line to move, it wont' see that I clicked on the line. I also notice that my crop box does not always work to select objects when i'm going fast. some times it does not show, others is goes to random points on the screen while still selecting the areas i've clicked in.
I've only noticed this problem when I'm in "the zone" and am clicking very fast, when I go slow, it picks up the clicks. its very frusterating knowing that I can't work as fast as I can without having the click input issue. I mostly notice this problem with commands like, erase, trim, move, and extend.
I do have my system set up for right mouse click as 'enter' via the autocad options, not sure if that has anything to do with it.
- It is not the computer system ( I recently got an upgrade at the office )
- Its not my mouse. I've tried several mice, and at home, in games and such, I don't get the fast click issue.
- I've changed the double click speed in the control panel when opeing folders, but no luck.
- its not an OS issue, happens in both XP and Win7, and shouln't be a computer hardware issue, considering I just jumped from a P4 to a new Haswell system.
- I don't know if it happens on other versions of autocad
I created a dynamic block to represent a room in a floor plan. It displays the dimensions and area of the room and can be stretched. But it's defeating the whole point of being dynamic. The area won't update unless I do a regen.
I've seen comments blaming MTEXT for the problem, so I tried putting the area field in a line of TEXT or DTEXT. It still didn't update unless I did a regen.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen selecting an object in 2013, entering the command and trying to select the object without moving the mouse will not select the object on the first pick. You must select the object a second time before the object is selected and highlighted.
Steps to reproduce:
1) Hover over desired object
2) Enter command on keyboard (M, E, CO, etc...
3) Do not move the mouse and attempt to select the object
Nothing is selected or highlighted
4) Attempt to select the object a second time
Object is now selected and highlighted
The same thing occurs if you attempt to create a selection window or crossing window immediately after entering a command without moving the mouse and clicking the first point.
This does not occur in vanilla 2012. I do have Raster Design installed with 2013, so not sure if the issue stems from the add-on or not.
Is it possible to chamfer shape like this (the white line) so that the chamfer degree and top chamfer length is same all around including the part on top of the slide? My goal is to use 0,75mm chamfer. I get error when I try to do it. URL.....
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to dimension chamfers like in the second pic below so that the values update. You can do a linear dimension and then alter the text and try and find that dimension in the list, but the chamfer tool works well with two clicks but you only get it with a leader. I would like the same function but with a linear dimension sometimes. It would be good if you could choose it. 45° is probably not a really good example, but the leader version is not always so clear.

How can i get it to put that angle in there with out trial & error of drawing a 22" long line on a 45 degree angle and moving it till it fits properly, then trimming off the corners... With QP activated, if I select an object (say an alignment or profile view) on the screen and want to pick its GRIP, I have to click the screen FIRST to get focus back to the drawing window (so two clicks). The same applies to the contextual Ribbon, it takes two clicks to 'press' a ribbon button if QP is activated.

I have included a short animation showing what the current process is. Without redrawing using AEC objects, is there a way to cut down on the amount of clicking to pull of this task?

View 4 Replies View RelatedIn Autodesk Inventor 2013. I have a simple cylinder extrusion with a rectangle attached to the cylinder. Drawing file attached(extrusion 1). Whenever I apply a chamfer to one of the straight edges, Inventor generates negative taper on the cylinder wall (if you zoom in with a window, you can clearly see that their are two lines on the cylinder wall where the chamfer edges was applied).
Is there anyway to prevent this from happening? This gives me all sorts of problem in my CAM software because the tool is trying to machine in an area it cannot get to.
As a work around I have to create a new part file with a small gap between the cylinder and the chamfered edges. This keeps the cylinder edges nice and straight with no taper. The work around is attached as well. Since the tool can't go that far into the corner given the radius of the tool, the gap has no affect on me generating code. I have tried many different ways on creating this part with chamfers with no luck. Once the chamfer is generated, it should match the profile of the cylinder.
I'm wondering if there is any way to chamfer a set length along an edge (similar to what can be done with flanges in sheet metal mode), as opposed to the entire length of an edge.

Distance/Distance works fine, but I haven't yet figured out how to use the chamfer tool to put a 30 degree chamfer on a cylinder (or any angle for that matter) by specifying a distance and an angle. Seems like it should be simple, but I always give up and end up creating the tapered edge by revolving a polyline that already has the chamfer, or using the TAPER>FACES tool.
