I'm trying to create these rounded divots in a solid. However the only way I know how to get this sort of shape is with a revolved PLINE - which I of course can't use to subtract material from my regular old box.
The shape I want is something like this: (the 2D is a profile of what I want in the end, a divot in a box)
How to set chamfer and Fillet. I have tried but just can not get it to do anything.
I may have maladjusted some other setting. Operator error for sure. I do not need to use these functions for anything else but the 3 shown in the attachment.
We are trying to apply a chamfer / fillet, anywhere betwen 0.5mm - 1.00mm, to the attached ACAD 2004 / ACAD 2012, 3D model, along the edges connectiing from the existing chamfer / fillet, up each side to the top - where you will see there is no chamfer / fillet - (the outside of the cup profile,Attachment 34929 Attachment 34928not the inside of the cup profile).
That resolved the problem, the software struggled a bit with filleting till we tried a smaller degree, then it worked - we thought it would automatically fillet (flow) in / out according to what dims were available.
Why do the Fillet and Chamfer commands sometimes inexplicably require three clicks to execute? At "Select First Object", the first line I select doesn't highlight, and is ignored. The second pick selects the first line to be filleted, the third pick performs the fillet. There's no predictability to when this happens. Does this happen to others?

I have a fillet feature with 2 fillets to a part. One is in the wrong place.The Feature Fillett1 if you edit it, you will see what I mean.
Keep the middle one. Both fillets are 0.25" / Replace the bottom fillet to the top corner.
I would like to keep the Feature in the order it is in, if possible.
I am using Inventor 2012.
I need to fillet part on an edge on the top face of the enclosed part, is this possible? I have tried a few things but the fillet command always selects all the edges on the face to fillet.
once selected it says in the selection box that 15 edges are selected, and I can't ctrl click to remove any of them singly, basically it will deselect them all? I have made sure I have loop select off.
I am trying to teach myself how to use 3D and when trying to chamfer my objects, the chamfer works, but it leaves the original lines.
I have it set to TRIM under the CHAMFER command. My TRIMMODE is set to 1. I don't know what else to do.
I made a fillet earlier and then continued to work on the part. Now when I try to delete the fillet (to replace it with chamfer) Inventor gives me a box: "delete features" and the middle box can be selected which says "dependent sketches and features". If I check the box and hit ok, some of the unreleated holes and chamfers gets deleted and the fillet I wanted to delete doesn't get deleted. If I uncheck the box, different chamfers and threads dissappear, fillet I wanted to delete stays in place again and yellow box appears on the corner of the part. So what should I do to just delete the fillet and keep everything else?

When we create a new multi-body assembly we will often derive 50-100 of them into the master file. It would be great if we could sort them by profile number.
The next best solution would be the ability to create sub-folders to place them in by type (sort of like assembly folders), but I'm pretty sure this isn't possible.

what i want to do, is renumber the BOM by (001) then go to part list and sort by item.
I am used to entering my fillet radius dimensions in the command line with [F]illet, [R]adius, then entering a value.
However with 2014 an extra prompt has been added (or enabled) which would mean the path was [F]illet, [D]imension, [Radius], value. I was getting frustrated with this and tried fiddling with the settings ([F]illet, [S]ettings) but could not sort it, and now when I do go to enter a dimension the only option I am left with is to "Select fillet arc", meaning I have lost the ability to enter a value in the command line.
How do I regain the ability to enter a numerical value for a radius?
I want to make it so that whenever I type F for FILLET the MULTIPLE option is selected so I don't have to type F then M. Is there a way to make it so that when I type F it always gives me the multiple option without my having to type F then M? How would I do that?

I have the outline of a solid body guitar that I drew with spline, extruded and now trying put a 1/2" fillet radius along the edges, top and bottom.
Using the 3d fillet command produces an error, and extruding a profile along the edge path doesn't work either.
Attached is the spline outline, the red part is what needs the fillet, but the white part does not. However, they can't be extruded into a 3d solid unless their joined!
I am creating a logo that is a series of six equally sized graphics, arranged in a circle and overlapping, sort of like the Olympic Circles, but in once circle rather than two lines. I want only the parts that overlap to be less opaque, so that in that one sliver, you can see both of them at the same time. I want the rest of each circular graphic to remain at 100% opacity. Each circle graphic is a separate layer. How do I do that?

When the civil plan is xreffed as an overlay, the images and pdf's xreffed in the civil file show up in the file it is xreffed into. As an overlay, this should not happen? the problem is that that both the civil and piping drawing has the same pdf xreffed and it is doubled up. Does overlay not work for images and pdf's? is there something else?

We will alter the Arch Base CAD file layer colors to a muted color for use as our backgorounds. We would sort the Layers by color, so that we could group them together to one base color, so basically layer colors 10-19 would then become 19, 20-29 would be 29, layer colors 30-39 would be 39, etc... If the colors were one of the 9 Base Colors (Red, Yellow, Green...) Red is effectivly the same as color as 10, so then we would make it 19, etc...
In 2007, even thought the sorting was by layer color, the layers rows would remain in the same location until we applied the changes. But in 2013, if we sort by color then alter the color, the layer row will automatically be re-sorted to its proper position in comparison to all other colors. OK I get that, but, if we are altering 40, 50, 60 layer colors, that auto re-sorting is annoying, because then we need to rescroll to our last location to continue.
So, is there a way to turn off the re-sort until we APPLY the colors.
I'm working on a UDK level for a college assignment.
I want to create a circular shaped elevator with a circular fence around it that's roughly half the size of an average sized character standing on it. I then wish it import this as a static mesh into UDK.

You can do a linear dimension and then alter the text and try and find that dimension in the list, but the chamfer tool works well with two clicks but you only get it with a leader. I would like the same function but with a linear dimension sometimes. It would be good if you could choose it. 45° is probably not a really good example, but the leader version is not always so clear.

How can i get it to put that angle in there with out trial & error of drawing a 22" long line on a 45 degree angle and moving it till it fits properly, then trimming off the corners... View 2 Replies View RelatedIn Autodesk Inventor 2013. I have a simple cylinder extrusion with a rectangle attached to the cylinder. Drawing file attached(extrusion 1). Whenever I apply a chamfer to one of the straight edges, Inventor generates negative taper on the cylinder wall (if you zoom in with a window, you can clearly see that their are two lines on the cylinder wall where the chamfer edges was applied).
Is there anyway to prevent this from happening? This gives me all sorts of problem in my CAM software because the tool is trying to machine in an area it cannot get to.
As a work around I have to create a new part file with a small gap between the cylinder and the chamfered edges. This keeps the cylinder edges nice and straight with no taper. The work around is attached as well. Since the tool can't go that far into the corner given the radius of the tool, the gap has no affect on me generating code. I have tried many different ways on creating this part with chamfers with no luck. Once the chamfer is generated, it should match the profile of the cylinder.
I'm wondering if there is any way to chamfer a set length along an edge (similar to what can be done with flanges in sheet metal mode), as opposed to the entire length of an edge.
