Since AutoCAD preserves the entire database list of commands used on a drawing from the beginning, is it possible to "back up," like using undo, after a drawing is saved and closed? Is there a way to come back the next day and start undoing the previous day's work?
View 4 RepliesWe have two computers running AutoCAD 2013 with Windows 7 64 bit and both crash regularly on save and close with about 2/3 of the drawing files. Typically it won't crash if I have only one drawing file open and then save and close. With more than one file open the system crashes regularly on both computers. Our service pack updates are current.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am working with an action macro to be able to use the EXPORT PDF option (save into current folder as DWG with no user input) / save the current drawing / and close.
At present i am able to get the macro to export the pdf and then (user input to directory to save and to overwrite the previous file) then save the file but cannot close the drawing.
I used to be able to open a drawing then close it right away, if it was not the drawing I was looking for, as long as I didn't pan, zoom, or do anything else. Almost a year ago I had a pop-up with-in AutoCAD that they reccommend I make this selection. I can't remember what it said really, it was something about a script or lisp loading at each drawing opening. Well, the result is the 'Drawing 1' does not disappear when I open another drawing and I would like that to stop. Also as I said it does it to every drawing. how to stop this? I tried the 'startup' command and that is not it. It is not a big thing just something I think is a waste of my time having to close that drawing each time I open AutoCAD. Not sure it matters but I am using AutoCAD 2012
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm currently running AutoCAD Electrical 2013 and every time I open a new drawing my undo is automatically disabled. Sometimes even changing from sheet to sheet in a project will result in my undo command being disabled. When I use the UNDOCTL command I seem to default to 48 and when I use UNDO to re-enable it I select the "All" option which gives me a 53 back for UNDOCTL, meaning that undo has been re-enabled.

I am running into a problem, I like to use the annotative line type scale when I open the drawing i have to set the MSLTS to (0), and PSLTS to (0), LTS is already at (0). When I set these settings then save the drawing (saves as autocad 2013 version), close it down and re-open it the MSLTS and PSLTS settings reset back to (0). I've tried everything to get these settings to save but nothing works.
I want to keep these settings MSLTS (1), PSLTS (1), and LTS (1), after a save and re open they reset to (0)
Is there a known problem with 2013 undo? I can be in a new drawing issue 2 commands and the undo drop down is populated with 100's of group commands, makinf Ctrl z useless

I have a problem understanding how undo marks are added to the undo stack.In the code below a fan of lines are draw in a random location.If you run MTest a few times, the AutoCAD Undo command will remove the fans one at a time.
If you run MMulti to draw 10 fans, the AutoCAD Undo command will remove all the fans in a single step.I want to be able to remove the fans one at a time.I thought that a StartTransaction / Commit pair would act as markers for the undo stack, but this isn't working.

after a bindXref i save the dwg in a path 'Archive' but if the file already exist i demand the user if i cant erase the dwg in archive before write my dwg. I want to force the user to close the dwg without save if the reponse is 'No'. (The function have BindXref so the dwg do not save this). No save only for this dwg not the other already open (I not know how to use event so.. and my DLL is not loading on the launch of autocad)

I know the "Saved" Property of AcadDocument can tell me the result. However, I could not use the AcadDocument Class. Because there is another plug-in, when i use the com class just like AcadDocument , it will tell some error.so i only can use .net Class just like Document. Is there any Proprty to get it ?

I open the file to the model. My RAM usage is about 33%. Next, I open the first layout and my usage climbs to 43%. I open the second layout and my usage climbs to 52%. I open the third layout and my usage climbs to 62%.
I can go back and view the layouts already opened marginally faster then when first opening them, and my RAM usage will not increase.
If I continue to open new layouts, my computer will spend all its RAM holding these and freeze. My computer will suspend graphical processing and be forced to run on sips of RAM until all active commands are finished. But RAM usage will never decrease.
I have been working with my Windows Task Manager open in the corner, watching this happen. This way, I can save and close the file to clear the RAM and then proceed to reload the file and continue working on my file with 34 layouts.
I do not know if it is a function of storing the UNDO functions, or just how the program is designed, but this is a problem for me.
QUESTION
Is there a way to clear the UNDO or layout memory without closing and reloading the file? I do not have to close AutoCAD - just the file.

I started with TM, browser, and AutoCAD open (I had already started writing this post)
I opened the file to the model.
Opened up 6 layouts (you can see the bumps)
Saved (you can see the tiny rise)
Closed the file, but not AutoCAD (precipitous drop ;] )
Lastly, I reloaded the file.

I use autocad architecture 2013 and it works just fine until the save turns to qsave whenever i want to save a drawing by save, save as and ctrl+s it works as qsave..how can I turn it back to SAVE ?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am missing entities when I try to pick on them.Not window, not crossing. Just trying to pick an entity. I usually select entities first before my command.
Is there a variable that might have changed? I played with PICKBOX & APERTURE but this doesn't change anything when I try to select something. I can have the entity in the box right next to the intersection of the crosshairs and instead of selecting the entity it starts to window.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI think it'd be so cool to be able to replay your entire undo history of a picture, so you can see and show others how you proceeded on a picture you made. That way, it's never necessary to capture screen video for like 10 hours and stuff..
So first you'd need to add an option to save the undo history (so that you always keep the history from when you started). Then you'd need an option to playback the undo history.
Everytime AutoCAD 2014 shuts down I get a fatal error with the d3b42920h. It doesn't seem to be the drawing that is erroring because it doesn't ask for a recovery file to be saved, but the program it'self.
When SDI is set to 1 everytime you open a new drawing the error occurs.
We do have a company wide network deployment with customised settings for over 40 machines and it only happens on certain machines. I don't want to restore default settings as and re-load our company settings on every machine this happens.
I create a script file to draw 2 lines:
Line 0,1 5.0,1
Line 0,1.025 5.0,1.025
But I only got 1 line. The second line is missing. When I use command to create them, everything is fine. Also if I change to
Line 0,1 5.0,1
Line 0,5 5.0,5
Two lines show up.
When I use my layer control and the pop up opens to changes layer or add layer, it will not give me the "x" to close the screen. I am figuring out to close the screen.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI had Inventor 2013 and it worked well for a long time, I didn't use it for a while, then yesterday I tried to use it again and it wouldn't work. It starts up fine, and gets to the menu where you can choose from recent files, new files, tutorials, etc. After I select anything to open, whether its a new or old file, the program will load open the file then immediately stop working. No error message is displayed besides Windows telling me "this program has stopped working". I updated to 2014 yesterday, and the exact same problem persists.

I don't like small undo/redo window in quick access toolbar. So I always use 'max2009' style toolbar in UI customization.
but in 2013version, there are all dropdown icons are broken
So I changed to Default UI and changed again just color to 2009 style color.
but I cannot roll back this undo/redo step window to 2009 style.
I tried add 'undo scene operation' but it doesn't shows step windows.
I've seen this happen with a couple of the previous releases, but not for some time. After the CLOSE command is issued, the drawing graphics remain displayed but no AutoCAD specific keyboard or mouse input is accepted. More of an annoyance, I guess, as Control + O will then allow opening of another drawing file. This just started today for no apparent reason after using 2014 for the past week or so. Prior to this happening, my workstation locked up completely while trying to close a CAD file and Task Manager wouldn't take any input.

How do I get the draw order to stay the way I want when I close and reopen a drawing? I even think that a couple times, without even closing and reopening the drawing, the draw order has flipped back to the way I don't want it after changing it.

For some strange reason, if 2 or more drawings are open & I minimize a drawing, it removes the minimize, maximize, close buttons from the right top side of the screen like in the attached picture. To get them back I have to go to the window pulldown & select the drawing from there. I'm using windows 7 pro with a nvidia quadro 1000m card.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI often open multiple images to make several changes, then use Close All and when it prompts "Do you want to save changes to ... before closing?" I check off the box to "Apply to all" and say Yes. This saves lots of time when adjusting several multi-hundred MB images. Imagine my surprise today when it closed an image without saving! I had to repeat about 30 minutes of work as a result.
I thought I had somehow accidentally clicked "No" to saving, so I made sure to pay close attention the next few times I used Close All to save work. It worked fine until a moment ago when it did it again.
The minimize, restore down, & close icons keep disappearing from the upper right hand corner on my current drawing file in 2013 LT. They will reappear once I re-zoom the drawing. Is there any way to keep these icons on the screen at all times?
