Before when I was creating models the origin (0,0,0) was always set in the snap point i started the line in. Now suddenly something happend and now 0,0,0 is always starting in the Original XYZ point.
How do I get back to the old settings?
By this I mean, if I set a new UCS with a new "north", can I lock it to this coordinate so it can't be changed?
Normally I would not do this, however, we're working with a company that has asked us to lay out an equipment grid on a couple sites they are setting up, as such: With 0,0 set to a predetermined point, and 100 ft increment grid laid out based off this point, using a laid out line on the site as an east-west, then creating a grid from this line and rotating it to create a "plant north."
Simple enough, except we sent them the dwg of the first one, and when they came back to us with their equipment setup, everything was inexplicably 4 degrees off and they blamed it on us. Oi...
So, yeah, to summarize, we'd like to lock our grid UCS.
I need to update the user defined property values using C# code,I can see information on how to ge the values of UDP but cannot see any information on how to modify, edit, update or add information to the UDP of a point.Basically in the attached image i want to add "Street light" to the Type UDP.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an issue with the student version of Maya 2013. This issue is reproducible in my environment when I try to align an edge to a snap point pressing the V key and move the edge with the move tool. May 2013 hang then and I have to close it ending the task in the task manager.Many times I deleted the Maya folder in my documents folder in order to start from the scratch, but it hangs again if I try the procedure i described above. Some times it take more time until Maya hang, some times after a few moves.I have installed Maya 2013 many times from the scratch, deleting before all the directories in the different locations (as described in an Autodesk paper).I have to run Maya 2013 while I need to export my files with an exporter which just work in the 32bit version of Maya.
In the Event log viewer from Windows 7 x64 there are two records during this hang:

Installed Maya on three different hard disks (one is a SSD)but no difference.Below my hardware:

I know that my graphic card is not in the hardware compatibility list and I will replace them with an ATI V5900 which is on the list.
I am working on a utility map with water valves and hydrants. I collected my points with a Trimble unit and converted them to shape files. I am unable to snap to these points, how i can use snap to draw my water mains from point to point?

View 9 Replies View RelatedHere at work we are have one computer that has some user defined coordinate systems on it, and we are needing to place these coordinate system files onto another computer so we can project some of our drawing files correctly.
What do we need to do in order to move these files from one computer to the next? What do we need to export?
I'm trying to draw a plan of my house in Autocad 2009 but I seem to be endlessly using trim and extend because I can't easily select the points that I want with osnap. Eg. imagine I have a box, and I want to start drawing another box inside it that has each side as 10 units smaller than the corresponding side on the outer box.
Step 1 - I draw a small line from the top left corner of the big box using the endpoint snap, typing in "5" for the length.
Step 2 - I then do the same at right angles to the first line to get me to the starting point of the inner box. This always leaves me with 2 small lines to remember to delete.
Step 3 - Then in order to draw the top line of the inner box I end up drawing to a random length because I can't say "draw until 5 units away from the right hand side of the big box", then I end up trimming it later once I've repeated steps 1,2 and 3 for the next side of the inner box.
I know in my example above I could have scaled the box down or something but that's not what I'm getting at. I really want a way of selecting line start and end points that are a known position away from an existing point.
If you create any custom coordinate systems in 2014 products (Civil3D, Map3D) *.CSD files are created in C:Users{user_name}AppDataLocalAutodeskUser Geospatial Coordinate Systems with the additional data in them.
My question is - can you have multiple 'coordsys.csd' files?
The reason for asking is that we are setting up a large number of low distortion projections that are specified by a government roading agency and I figure the best way to distribute these is to create a coordsys.csd with them and sync it out to everyones profile (the location shown above), but there could then be issues if a user then sets up some additional coordinate systems that will only be on their computer, if we altered or expanded the company definitions and sync'd these out again it would overwrite the users ones.
It would be good to be able to have mutilple custom coordinate system files - ones for particular clients, countries, individual users etc.

I got this error
Unable to start application (0xc000007b).
I already tried several fixes like:
1. reinstall all redist(x64 & x86).
2. reinstall .Net 4.0
3. Use CCleaner for Registry error.
4. chckdsk for error and fix.still error so I've gone through this.
5. I uninstall Autocad 2014 completely, uninstall it manually one by one,deleted left over folder of autodesk or similar software to it, deleted its registry keys.just like the instruction on how to remove autocad completely in autodesk, I just followed it all. [after Reboot]
6 I Re-install it and still the problem persist.
I'm having a problem with showing the both x,y coordinates for a certain point , know how can i do that , and by the way I'm using Auto-CAD 2005, because whenever i try to show it , it either show the X - coordinate or the y - coordinate alone but i need to show both of them for example this point (4.2 , 2.2).

In other words supose I have a block of a simple rectangle with the base point in the center.
If I try to snap to the block, I will be able to snap to all the corners, but not the base point. I know that i can put a point at the base point, but can I turn off the snap to the corners (just for the block) in other words, have an object that is unsnapable to without turning the snap mode off.
I made a complex assembly from Solidworks few years ago. I imported it to Inventor 2012. How can I find the coordinate of the center point of the: a) parts/sub-assemblies, b) the complex assembly as a whole? Under Application Options, I have already checked: Sketch->Display->Coordinate system indicator. Under the assembly tree, I can go to the Origin of each sub-assembly/part and make the corresponding Center Point visible. However, I want the x,y,z values.
I copied and pasted a sub-assembly/part to a new assumbly file and then used VRMLout to export. When I imported the .wrl files to another application, the location of the parts/subassembies are not correct. I think they all became (0,0,0).
I wonder if there is a way to get an intersecting point coordinate of two polylines(lines) programmatically.
For example, like in the below sample picture, I need to get coordinates of the points in the red cycles.
Is there any method that I can easily use?
Could I get a sample code snippet that computes the coordinates? (in C# & ObjectARX 2010 if possible?)

I have a macro that automatically creates a Detailed view on a sheet. It works on 2 input's:
- mouse click 1 (set's the target to be detailed)
- mouse click 2 (set's the location where the balloon should be)
The code works fine. But sometimes the user will start another command, or restart the same command, while it is still running. This off course gives all kinds of problems.
Is there a possibility in VBA to prevent the user to start another command while this command is running?Or is this problem a part of the clicking itself?

I use the command UCS, Object, Select my base point and measure from there rather than cluttering measurement lines; however, without using UCS, Previous when ever i copy and paste the base point for the copy paste is off.. yes i can reset just wondering why it does this.
I used the measure command to place points along a polyline. I'd like to draw a poly from the points that were created. I can't seem to snap to those points. I don't see anywhere to get the osnaps to snap.

It happens sometimes in object snap, it does not work to snap a intersection point (two crossed lines) when drawing a line or arc or others. For sure, these two lines are in the same plan and can be filleted or chamfered. So I turned on the Apparent intersection, it works with apparent intersection point, I am not sure if this apparent intersection will cause other problem. I am working on pure 2-D drawing, do not want to get any 3D objects inside the drawing.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSince switching over to Inventor 2012 I have been having trouble snapping to tangent points on a curve or circle to pull dimensions. I would do it manually but if the dimension is not referencing a specific point in the model it turns pink to identify an error.
Is there a setting that may be not allowing me to snap to tangent points?
For some reason we cannot snap to the node on several of our point symbols. I cannot see anything different when compared to the other point symbols that we can snap too. Basically if i try to draw a line of obtain a distance using the NOD osnap on these point symbols i get nothing, its like they dont have a NOD to snap too.

The program I am using is Vectorworks and they have these items called loci. They are basically just snap points that do not print and are not actually geometry. They are great though for aligning items and referencing points. Is there a similar item in autocad?

I'm using INV 2009 and our vendor swears up and down in 2012 every thing is fixed, which somehow I doubt since they failed to fix the conversion from idw to dwg in the previous 12-13 releases.
Anyways, my problem today is that the dimiension lines I spent so much time making them meet our industry and company standards in my idw are all wrong in the dwg's I saved.

Some how I turned off the snap to end point in the sketch mode. where is the dialog box to control snap settings
I set a snap for ease of use, e.g. if my intended output scale is 1:50 I will set my snap to 25, this makes drawing lines fast and simple.
When I used the break command in previous versions (I skipped 2011) the break would keep the snap on so I could break either side of a line with a perfect unit gap.
In 2012 when I select the first point it disregards the snap and just puts the break wherever I select on the line meaning the gap is not neat. Is there anyway to put this back the way it was?
Lines snap at an offset distance (0.0000274 m e.g.) from the actual point. What change of settings can resolve it?

But it's 2D point, not 3d

I draw a pline. It asks me for the start point. I type in INT. I used to get this 'x' when I was near the intersection. That is now gone. It will still go to the intersection, but I really want my 'x' back.
