AutoCad :: Finding Distance Between Offset Lines
Jul 6, 2011how would I find the distance between two offset lines. Basicaly what I have got is straight line with an original offset line at the base and I have copied this line at different distances along the line, but I need a way to double check the distances from the original line.

Jul 12, 2012Isn't there a variable in C3D that sets whether or not you snap to actual elevations or not?
I'm new to C3D but have ran LDD 09 for years. I have imported points in C3D flattened to an elevation of 0. (planimetrics only) When I draw a line by point range, the line will be at an obscene elevation, either positive or negative. If I use the CHANGE command and reset the elevation of the line to 0, then the line is at the actual elevation of the points (~1075.00).

AutoCad :: Select Line Start / End Point That Is Known Distance From OSnap Point?
Jun 9, 2011I'm trying to draw a plan of my house in Autocad 2009 but I seem to be endlessly using trim and extend because I can't easily select the points that I want with osnap. Eg. imagine I have a box, and I want to start drawing another box inside it that has each side as 10 units smaller than the corresponding side on the outer box.
Step 1 - I draw a small line from the top left corner of the big box using the endpoint snap, typing in "5" for the length.
Step 2 - I then do the same at right angles to the first line to get me to the starting point of the inner box. This always leaves me with 2 small lines to remember to delete.
Step 3 - Then in order to draw the top line of the inner box I end up drawing to a random length because I can't say "draw until 5 units away from the right hand side of the big box", then I end up trimming it later once I've repeated steps 1,2 and 3 for the next side of the inner box.
I know in my example above I could have scaled the box down or something but that's not what I'm getting at. I really want a way of selecting line start and end points that are a known position away from an existing point.
AutoCAD 2013 :: Arc Offset By Distance And Scale?
Jun 24, 2013I am trying to find a routine that will allow me to offset an arc by a distance and to a scale.
The offest command is very limited as to how far I am able to offset without the boject completely vanishing.
I am trying to make a flat pattern from a cone or something close to it. The routines and programs that I have found do not quite accomplish this very accuratll. They are always off on the upper and lower arcs and on the distance between the arcs. Tho this would not completely sovle my problem, it would allow me to get the distance between the top and bottom correct.

I tried POINT -> ALIGNMENT: STATION/OFFSET, and that prompts me to tell where i want the offsets to go. I want to be able to pick the center of each bore and have civil 3d tell me that information. What command do I use?

In other words supose I have a block of a simple rectangle with the base point in the center.
If I try to snap to the block, I will be able to snap to all the corners, but not the base point. I know that i can put a point at the base point, but can I turn off the snap to the corners (just for the block) in other words, have an object that is unsnapable to without turning the snap mode off.

Dec 14, 2012I have located steel beams of an existing building roof frame. I am being asked to provide a distance from the theoretical roof to these points. The roof is sloped and I can create the sloped roof plane but I am unsure how to get the distance from the point to perpendicular to the theoretical roof slope, not the difference in elevation. Also would it be possible to label or make a table?
I am using Autocad 2013.

Apr 25, 2013I read all of the posts I could on point gaps and know how to make the leader reach for the center of the point. What I want is for the leader to actually attach to the block of the style I have created. Is this possible, or do I need to find a new way to label of these points so that the leader touches the block. Also I noticed the gap is not consistent from point to point.

Mar 4, 2010I use point filters allot when measuring distances. I noticed today using Full CAD 2010 that when i measured a distance (Say 2m) using a "Y" point filter, between two objects not directly below one another the answer i got was wrong. It seemed to give me the distance of where my crosshairs where at the time of finishing the command.
I have tried this on another full system of CAD 2010 and a light version. Problem occurs on all.
I know that if you just measure between the points CAD will give you the (-Y) answer in the command line, but using point filters is an old habbit hard to kick.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Can't Snap To Intersection Point
Jul 10, 2012Form Autocad 2000 to 2012, there is always with this problem. It happens sometimes in object snap, it does not work to snap a intersection point (two crossed lines) when drawing a line or arc or others. For sure, these two lines are in the same plan and can be filleted or chamfered. So I turned on the Apparent intersection, it works with apparent intersection point, I am not sure if this apparent intersection will cause other problem. I am working on pure 2-D drawing, do not want to get any 3D objects inside the drawing.

Feb 24, 2011For some reason we cannot snap to the node on several of our point symbols. I cannot see anything different when compared to the other point symbols that we can snap too. Basically if i try to draw a line of obtain a distance using the NOD osnap on these point symbols i get nothing, its like they dont have a NOD to snap too.
