AutoCad :: Make Multiple Point Distance Command?
Oct 8, 2007if its possible to have a command which does a multiple distance? at the moment im drawing a polyline, doing a list on it then deleting it, which is a bit mudane now.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Distance Command Using Y Point Filters?
Mar 4, 2010I use point filters allot when measuring distances. I noticed today using Full CAD 2010 that when i measured a distance (Say 2m) using a "Y" point filter, between two objects not directly below one another the answer i got was wrong. It seemed to give me the distance of where my crosshairs where at the time of finishing the command.
I have tried this on another full system of CAD 2010 and a light version. Problem occurs on all.
I know that if you just measure between the points CAD will give you the (-Y) answer in the command line, but using point filters is an old habbit hard to kick.
AutoCad :: Select Line Start / End Point That Is Known Distance From OSnap Point?
Jun 9, 2011I'm trying to draw a plan of my house in Autocad 2009 but I seem to be endlessly using trim and extend because I can't easily select the points that I want with osnap. Eg. imagine I have a box, and I want to start drawing another box inside it that has each side as 10 units smaller than the corresponding side on the outer box.
Step 1 - I draw a small line from the top left corner of the big box using the endpoint snap, typing in "5" for the length.
Step 2 - I then do the same at right angles to the first line to get me to the starting point of the inner box. This always leaves me with 2 small lines to remember to delete.
Step 3 - Then in order to draw the top line of the inner box I end up drawing to a random length because I can't say "draw until 5 units away from the right hand side of the big box", then I end up trimming it later once I've repeated steps 1,2 and 3 for the next side of the inner box.
I know in my example above I could have scaled the box down or something but that's not what I'm getting at. I really want a way of selecting line start and end points that are a known position away from an existing point.

I wrote a code creating a polyline between the lowest and the highest initial polyline and obtaining the intersection. But when it comes to many points the rendering is quite time consuming.

Dec 14, 2012I have located steel beams of an existing building roof frame. I am being asked to provide a distance from the theoretical roof to these points. The roof is sloped and I can create the sloped roof plane but I am unsure how to get the distance from the point to perpendicular to the theoretical roof slope, not the difference in elevation. Also would it be possible to label or make a table?

Apr 25, 2013I read all of the posts I could on point gaps and know how to make the leader reach for the center of the point. What I want is for the leader to actually attach to the block of the style I have created. Is this possible, or do I need to find a new way to label of these points so that the leader touches the block. Also I noticed the gap is not consistent from point to point.

Feb 22, 2013m in the middle of a little project and want to know if its possible to save the info that the _MEASUREGEOM command displays when applied to measure distance or angle to the project.
I used to use a lisp script to do this but that was on my PC. Im not running autocad on my mac and it wont alow me to run the script. it loads it but then gives the error
error: vl-load-com not supported on "Mac OS X Version 10.8 (x86_64)"
when i try and apply the command. Does MEASUREGEOM have a built in feature to save these details to the project i.e. next to the line or shape measured?

Jun 6, 2012when doing the "distance" command, typically as you go from point to point, the distance will be listed on the page next to my cursor as I go. Then if you left click, right click, it will list the final distance down in the command window. The machine in question no longer displays the distance on the page as you go. This is a very useful feature for us, and although we can distance things, using the text readout in the command window takes much longer.

I saw another post about the rubber band being black against the black background, but that is not the problem.
When I turn Otrack on I get the rubber band, but I don't like Otrack on because it causes other problems. How to get the rubber band to work the way it did before?

May 9, 2012I want to add the Measure (Distance) command to my quick access toolbar. When I right click on the Measure button the "Add to quick access toolbar" is grayed out in 2013.
Also why can't they make it so when I add something to the quick access toolbar stays added to all file types. I have to add it to .ipt, .iam, .dwg...
BTW Not real impressed with 2013 so far.

Sep 12, 2011Autocad2008 has the Break, Break at Point, and Dimension Break tools. There may be other variations of the break command, but I'm not able to fined a way to quickly use any of these commands to create a very simple single break point on a single segmented line at an unequal segment. I'm surprised Break at Point doesn't fit the billet.
Example:
I've drawn vertical line 10 units long. I would like to place a single break point at 7.956 units from either endpointe of that very same line. This is not a polyline. When selected it is depicted as a line with two equal segments.
The purpose of the break is so that I can intersect a horizontal line at 7.956 units located on the vertical line.
It seems to me that with all of the break tools available, one of them should be able to accomplish this simple task on the fly. Even most basic CAD programs such as Draft It, has a break tool that performs this function easily and quickly with one mouse click and one single text box entry.
Also, the fastest way I have found to accomplish this task is to simply draw another vertical line 7.956 units over the original vertical line, and that allows me to attach my horizontal line at 0 or 180 degrees from the vertical 7.956 units. I then go back and delete the second vertical line.

Feb 21, 2013Here's an extremely simple example.. It works with a circle or a square, obviously because it has the same height and width. The problem is when you have irregular shapes, (or in this case, an oval). I know I've seen solutions to this in the past, but I just can't think of how to word this question and find them again.
I know you can create multiple strokes for an object in the appearance palette, but I'm looking for something more effective than just having colored stroke > white stroke > colored stroke> white stroke > etc.
Here's a couple examples of the kind of effect I'm looking for.
