AutoCad 2D :: Temporary Tracking Point / Can't Find Start Tracking Icon
Dec 1, 2011I am having trouble locking onto a temporary tracking point in autocad 2011. I can't seem to find the start tracking icon and it doesn't recognize the 'TT' command. I have a tracking line, I just can't seem to do it in two dimensions.

Apr 19, 2012I've noticed some issues with Osnap tracking not working consistently with a floating command line. It seems to happen especially when trying to track back along an object.
No problems whatsoever when command line is docked.
AutoCad :: Temporary Track Point Versus Tracking
Aug 6, 2008I’ve been using Autocad LT since 1994 and the Tracking command has always worked the same, now in the newest version (2009) when I Shift + Right Click I only have “Temporary Track Point” on the menu and it works differently then the old Tracking in LT 2002.
If I want to place a Point at a specific area inside a rectangle I would normally select Point then invoke Tracking then select the bottom left corner of the rectangle and move the cursor over to the Right and enter a distance such as 2.1 Enter, then move my cursor up and enter another distance 2.5 Enter, Enter. That would place the point at 2.1,2.5 relative to the lower left corner of the rectangle. I can no longer do this because as soon as I hit Enter after the first distance it places the point there.
AutoCad :: Displaying Distance In Command Line?
Jan 6, 2012i have been using the DI command to get line lengths (of road widths, that sort of thing), and in the command line, it just gives the X, Y and Z distances, and not the actual length of the line.
how to change the displayed information so that the length of the line drawn with DI shows in the command line?
Also is there an option to choose what is displayed in the command line with DI command?

Feb 22, 2013m in the middle of a little project and want to know if its possible to save the info that the _MEASUREGEOM command displays when applied to measure distance or angle to the project.
I used to use a lisp script to do this but that was on my PC. Im not running autocad on my mac and it wont alow me to run the script. it loads it but then gives the error
error: vl-load-com not supported on "Mac OS X Version 10.8 (x86_64)"
when i try and apply the command. Does MEASUREGEOM have a built in feature to save these details to the project i.e. next to the line or shape measured?
AutoCAD 2010 :: Distance Command And Rubber Band Line
Jun 28, 2011When I use the distance command and pick the first point the rubber band line doesn't appear and then when I pick the second point I get a distance, but I have no way of knowing exactly where the points I picked landed.
I saw another post about the rubber band being black against the black background, but that is not the problem.
When I turn Otrack on I get the rubber band, but I don't like Otrack on because it causes other problems. How to get the rubber band to work the way it did before?

However in some instances only the model space coordinates are displayed- not distances. Is there any way to ensure that only distances appear?
Photoshop :: PSD Files Saved In Temporary Items Has Disappeared
Mar 1, 2013I was working in Photoshop CS5.1 (OS X 10.7.5) and the original image I started with was saved in TemporaryItems, long story short I spent 4 hours working on an illustration and saving the .psd files versions in the same TemporaryItems folder, planning to move all the files tonight. Just came back to it and the files are gone! I may cry pixel tears, desperately running out of swear words.

Enter DIST command. Pick first point. Do not pick second point.
Instead do wheel mouse zoom in. => the temporary line has thickness. It should not.

Mar 4, 2010I use point filters allot when measuring distances. I noticed today using Full CAD 2010 that when i measured a distance (Say 2m) using a "Y" point filter, between two objects not directly below one another the answer i got was wrong. It seemed to give me the distance of where my crosshairs where at the time of finishing the command.
I have tried this on another full system of CAD 2010 and a light version. Problem occurs on all.
I know that if you just measure between the points CAD will give you the (-Y) answer in the command line, but using point filters is an old habbit hard to kick.

Then if you left click, right click, it will list the final distance down in the command window. The machine in question no longer displays the distance on the page as you go. This is a very useful feature for us, and although we can distance things, using the text readout in the command window takes much longer.

Also why can't they make it so when I add something to the quick access toolbar stays added to all file types. I have to add it to .ipt, .iam, .dwg...
BTW Not real impressed with 2013 so far.

Revit :: Overriding Line The Tracking Feature
Jun 11, 2013Is there a way of overriding line the "tracking" feature when dragging line endpoints to snap to something. Near points seem to want to track along the line axis but snapping 1st to a intersection or endpoint then allows tracking along the host axis or line. Its a bit hit and miss. Is then anyway of overriding so the endpost snaps semi freehand to a point on a line (i.e. nearest).

May 15, 2012I press CTRL+9 to make the Command Line disappear while drawing. When I plot (or when doing a plot preview) , the Command Line appears again by itself. So I always have to turn the Command Line off manually after each plot
The bug still happens;
- if Dynamic Input is turned off or on
- if I plot to a real device or in PDF
- if the Cammand Line Palette i docked or floating.
This is not an issue in AutoCAD 2012 so I guess it has to do with the new way they programmed the revamped Command Line palette in 2013.

Jan 22, 2013I used direct-distance entry to place the dimensions 3/8 away from the object lines... needless to say, while most horizontal dimensions are 3/8 away, the vertical and inclined dimensions are not. see attached. other than creating construction geometry and physically moving the endpoints of the arrows to the correct location, is there any way of getting this precise and correct the first time i do it?

if you care to not click-through, the problem is that certain commands (not all of them) simply do not disply in the command line. so the MOVE command for example looks like this:

same with QSAVE and who knows how many others.

May 24, 2011One drawing we have has a weird quirk. The rubber band line for the Distance command is black. The background of our AutoCAD is also black, which makes it very hard to see. This only seems to affect the Distance command as the rubber band for the Line command is grey (though the current layer is yellow).
I have confirmed this is limited to just one drawing, no matter what machine you open it on. The AutoCAD version we are using is Civil 3D 2011.
I have checked the following: DRAGMODE (auto), HIGHLIGHT (1), restored colors to default, made sure 3D views were not on, rendering off, UCS set to world.
Next step? Repairing the AutoCAD installation is not likely to fix the problem.

What I want to do is move a line on an angle a certain distance in the direction of the line itself in this case 20mm
What used to happen is you'd simply select move and an endpoint on the line then hover over the mid or opposite endpoint of the line and enter 20 and it would move 20mm along the trajectory of the line.
The same set of actions now only seem to allow you to move the entity 100mm (the default value) along itself in the correct direction. If you enter 20 it does not move and if you enter 50 it moves 100!
