AutoCAD 2013 :: Computer Freezes / Windows 7 Upgrade
May 14, 2013
Because the new Building Suite Design programs won't run on windows vista, I've been upgrading some of our older computers to windows 7. Most are working fine but having problems with one computer.
Specs of this computer (it's pretty old I know)
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9300 @ 2.50GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.5GHz
Asus P5K SE/EPU
NVIDIA Quadro FX 570
8gb ram
So I formatted this computer and installed windows 7 64x pro, installed all the software etc. This computer is also part of a domain. Problem now is opening some AutoCAD files on the server, edit the file then hit the x in the corner to close it, we hit yes to save it then the whole computer just freezes. It doesn't happen with all files, just some and I can't work out what the problem is. ALSO when copying some CAD files from one project folder on the server to another project folder on the server it freezes. No problems copying files to the local computer/desktop, just server-server. The graphics card driver is up to date etc.
My computer has started freezing (busy spinning wheel) between each command or button click that I do on AutoCAD. The lag time started at 5 sec between each command, which was annoying, but now has increased on complex drawings to up to 45 seconds between anything I touch. I work with 3D models and it's has gotten to the point where I cannot get any work out. I've turned off and on paging, turned off network connections, turned off properties and nothing seems to work.
If autocad is running when I unlock my computer it will freeze. It still lets me close out and save my work, but I am unable to do anything else in the program. Sometimes it will crash my video driver recover then allow me to continue working.
I just became a part of the Student Community here, and downloaded Inventor Pro. I actually had some problems right off the bat: some kb971153 file was missing, so I had to find a hotfix from MS and install it before it would let me install Inventor.
Anyway, I opened up Inventor, and found that within seconds of loading up a new .ipt file, my computer would freeze. I can confirm that ctrl+alt+del, mashing several other buttons in frustration, and thinking of creative ways to use four-letter words to describe the situation don't work. As far as I can tell, .dwg files work just fine, it's just the .ipt ones that are kick my blood pressure up a notch.
If I remember correctly, the hotfix had to do with individual licensing or something, so it shouldn't be the cause right? Everything else on the computer works just fine; if I downloaded the wrong fix or something, I figure I'd see some problems with the computer overall. So I'm lost. Maybe it has to do with the stuff the .ipt file is trying to load or access but, either way, it's causing me to have to turn my computer via power button, something I'd rather avoid.
My computer freezes when I create a mate in any assembly, at the first attempt to create a mate, I select both faces, and just when I click to make the mate, the part moves, and after the part moves, my computer just freezes, totally, nothing to du but turn it off by forcing it with the power button, this happend with Inventor 2011 and now with Inventor 2012 student version.
I have an ASUS Notebook G73jh Series with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 1GB GDDR5 graphics card
I'm using Windows 7 64 bit, LR currently 4.1. LR has been nagging me to update to 4.3. I downloaded it (twice, thinking that maybe the first download was corrupted) and everytime I try to run the installation, it does not load and basicaly everything freezes. No error message whatsover.
Im currently in my second year at architecture school and have recently been learning how to render and do simple animations on autodesk. Being a poor student and only having an existing home computer, how to update my system so I would be able to run some simple renders on my computer?
I have attached an image below of my system details. My computer doesnt have a graphics card and I know I need to get that sorted.
When starting photoshop it freezes my computer everytime. I have to go into the task manager to regain control?I'm using win 7 pro and the cload version of photoshop
I inserted a picture in a square using powerclip; I also used some lens effects inside the frame; then when I wanted to edit, the program froze my pc completely, not just Corel but also windows.
I am running a 64-bit windows 7, Inter Core i7, 6 Gb RAM.
I just bought PSP X3 and am unable to install it. The autorun window opens, but I can rarely make it past the licencing agreement, sometimes to the serial number entry, before everything comes to a complete standstill and I have to restart my computer. I've tried installing it under a different user with no luck.
My whole computer freezes when i try saving a file in photoshop. So i reboot my computer. Now what the hell! I opened the file and it is only 1 black layer now!It took me days working on it.It is for a client. The file size still states 300mbs,when using Photoshop to open it, i still see a small thumbnail preview of it.but i just can't get all the layers back! Any solutions on this?
I just started to have trouble with Lightroom 4 on my MacBook. The program freezes when I try to choose a file on my computer or try to select a folder location. When I try to choose where to export my pics, I have to reboot the program every time.
I have tried shutting down my computer and everything.
I have a downloaded version of of Photoshop CS5.1, which was a special upgrade offer for users of PSE. I have installed PSE 7.0 on my new machine successfully. I also have the folder "Photoshop CS5 Installers" (from my old computer).
I have a file with the serial number of my CS5.1. If I run the file "Photoshop_12_1_LS1.exe" (with the file "Photoshop_12_1_LS1.7z" in the same folder) will this re-install Photoshop CS5.1 on my new computer? My old machine was running Vista Home Premium SP2 (32-bit) and the new one is running Windows 7 Professional SP1 (64-bit). I don't want to try anything without really knowing what I'm doing for fear of messing things up.
I recently obtained a Dell Dimension 4600 to replace my Dimension b110. The 4600 is equipped with a Pentium 4 and a nVidia GeForce4 MX 440 (driver ver. 5.6.7.3), and runs Windows XP Professional SP2; my monitor is a Sharp LL-T19D1-B, connected via analog. Instead of reinstalling my things, I migrated my old HD to the new machine and installed the relevant drivers (plus a new monitor driver.)
Since then, I've noticed that everything I open in Photoshop is yellow-tinted, as is the Color Picker. I ran Adobe Gamma, set the white point to 6500 degrees K for Hardware and "Same as Hardware" for Adjusted, and was prompted to save an .icm, which I did - but Photoshop still had the yellowing. I also tried adjusting individual R/G/B gammas, but doing so changed the color balance of my entire display, with Photoshop remaining yellower in tint than everything else on my system, so I ultimately left the individual gammas alone.
Short of running proofed to Monitor RGB (which wouldn't help with the Color Picker,) how can I restore Photoshop to normal coloration?
My autocad lt 12 crashes when I try to copy or cut to the windows clipboard. It only does this in some older drawings. I have to kill autocad and restart. I use copy and pasting between drawings quite extensively. I am desparate for a fix for this I use Windows 7 64 bit.
I'm having problems opening photoshop CS3 after a clean install. I have deactivated my CS3 product on my old computer, that run on windows XP. With my DVD installed on my new computer that runs on windows 7. After the installation, I tried to open photoshop to activate. When the program stats to open and freezes almost instantly. I have to open the task manager to close the program that appears not responding.
My new computer is a Workstation, S5000XVN Intel motherboard, 24 Gb of Ram, NVidea Quadro 2000.
I just built a new PC and re-installed lightroom 2.0. I downloaded the upgrade to 2.7 (which was free) and tried to import my catalogs. My 2010 catalog is fine, but my 2011 catalog says it is "too new for this version of lightroom". I never had version 3 so i dont know why it's saying my catalog is too new.
I have a Windows 7 machine running AutoCAD 2013. When trying to open any drawings from our AutoDesk Vault 2013 server, AutoCAD will hard lock/freeze and can only be closed by using Windows Task Manager. When accessing the same files through the Vault first, without opening AutoCAD, they open with no issues.
My brand spanking new Acad2012 cannot copy anything to the windows clipboard...it freezes as soon as I hit enter after selecting the objects I want to copy. The only solution is to taskmanager and kill it.
I've had to go back to using my old AcadLT 2002 in my WindowsXP VM.
Basically my new Sing$2000 SW is useless unless I can copy blocks form one drawing to another.
I have had CS3 installed and registered on a Mac since 2008. I want to upgrade to CS5 but change to Windows as that's my preference with photo editing software (I already use Elements 7-8-9 on a PC).
Looking around, I just cannot find a definitive answer as to whether I can upgrade my Mac CS3 licence to a CS5 Windows licence - I see the question has been asked the other way round a few years back but the answers conflicted: Yes, no problem; No, no way; yes but very complicated, have to write to Adobe.
There is no way I can afford to buy the complete new product (I'm now a pensioner but have programmed since 1978 and been a photographer since 1961) so an upgrade is my only route. I don't want to buy the upgrade then find it's not working....
I recently upgraded to a new PC with Windows 8. I installed PS CS5 and some annoying glitches have popped up. Have others had problems and is there a fix available?
Recently Photoshop CS3 Extended freezes when I launch it on my Windows 7 (64 bit) computer. The splash screen appears but then it just stops working (usually on initializing Tools).
I have read several things so far. To fix it I tried:
- disabling the TWAIN plugin
- resetting all tools
- deleting the Photoshop preferences file.
- deleting my printer from the control panel (some others said printer drivers could cause it)
I got CS2 so I could process my Olympus C-8080 raw files, but my Olympus E-620 raw files require a later version. I am wondering if the CS5 upgrade will work with my CS2. This page makes it look like CS2 qualifies: URL....Will this u/g work on my CS2 (XP SP3 32 bit).
I'm attempting to use CS3 on a Dell laptop- 64 bit- Windows 7.
When first installed it worked fine, then suddenly it was non-functional. It will open, but ANY request at all will cause it to freeze. I have to close it through Task Manager. I get no error messages, and when I went in to view the event viewer there is nothing there under Applications.
I've changed the default printer to a non-network but haven't done much else as I don't have administrative privileges on this (work) computer. We tried uninstalling and reinstalling and that did nothing.
I finally can get Organizer to run by using the new short cut I created but Editor refuses to display anything other than a small gray box on the upper right side of my desktop and a border that is missing a substantial amount of pieces!
I'm running AutoCAD 2014 (part of AutoCAD Structural Detailing 2014), & it occasionally freezes on me. I haven't figured out how to reproduce it regularly yet, but it is somewhat predictable. When I run a list routine that opens a dialog box, if I press Escape immediately after the dialog box appears, AutoCAD quits responding & I have to force it to close with the task manager. It doesn't always happen, but it has become a semi-regular event. I've previously used AutoCAD 2010 Mechanical & AutoCAD 2012 (part of Structural Detailing 2012) before with the same routines on this machine with no issue.
Computer Specs:
Dell Inspiron 560
Windows 7 Professional x64
Pentium E6700 3.2 GHz
4GB RAM
NVidia GeForce 8400GS
AutoCAD 2014 doesn't seem to be noticably more resource intensive than 2012 was, so I don't think that's my issue. I'm just trying to make a habit of saving more often & not accidentally running the wrong command.
I’m getting “not enough memory” errors (Windows 7 HP 32bit), mostly when I am using Viveza2. This is the primary reason I want to upgrade both my Windows 7 and Photoshop CS5 to 64 bit. What do I need to know about the reinstall, of Photoshop CS5 on a clean install of Windows Home Premium 64bit with 16meg memory?
Can I run 1 copy of CS6 on MacBook Pro (64)bit (new install) and upgrade the CS3 to CS6 on a windows vista (64)bit machine? Basicly, can I put CS6 on my two machines?
