I recently saw a demonstration of a new software feature to AutoCAD 2014 that enables a pdf to be converted to dwg format by sketching the lines over the pdf underlay. I cannot remember what the software feature was called.
View 8 RepliesTrying to change the color of a layer in a viewport (different than the default layer color (i.e. model layer color)). Objects are set to bylayer. Changing the VP color in the layer dialog brings up the color dialog, select a different color, click OK and the VP Color DOESN"T change in the layer dialog. It stays at its previous color. Occurs on several machines.

For example, I have a block in my title block named REV and an attribute in that black named RevNum, I want my users to be able to edit that block and the layout tab automatically change to match, i.e. if they modify the RevNum attribute to be A i want the layout tab name to change to A. I want this to be transparent to my users normal workflow.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am going through an architectural background, converted over from Revit. I have to go through and routinely burst the object, then qselect, choose what is not equal to bylayer, and change to bylayer.
I don't want to burst everything, making a monster out of the file, but going into every individual block to change the colors within the block to bylayer is also extremely time consuming.
Is there an easier way? maybe a wishlist item for ACAD 2014 to include objects within blocks, when using QSE?
I'm having a bit of trouble getting my polygon closed without changing the dimensions of the polygon.The drawing attached or at URL....
However I do not know the radius of the angles A, B and C. I know that all the lines have to be the dimensions marked.
Can Autocad automatically bend the angle say, at A without changing the dimensions in order to complete the polygon? I tried this URL.... but found it wasn't what I wanted.
We need to xref a drawing with a different unit. When I go into the drawing file I want to xref and use the "-DWGUNITS" command I change it from feet to inches and use Architectural. Answer yes to all questions and certain objects disappear. Most of the objects are pline or spline objects. Here is what I see in the AutoCAD Text Window:

changing some properties default value for 2 items i have here. I want to keep the new settings inside my dwg template but i don't find any why to do it yet.I have to modify these manually or use match properties.
THE TEXT: Has the first picture, i would like to keep the setting Line Space Style: "Exactly" instead of "at least" all the time, each time i open a new autocad. How can i modify this default value? is there a way to do it ?
THE LEADER: Has the picture, in my dimension style i use 2 mm standard closed filled arrow. BUT i like to use the "dot" style sometimes but i like to use the dot at 1 mm not 2 mm.
Is there a way to set individually each type of leader tip size ? With dimension style override it's not working for now..Or maybe if i could change the default properties value for the particular dot in a configuration file?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've noticed an anomoly when working with XREF's and changing units. With the company that I work, we receive client drawings, XREF them in, and put our drawings on top of them. For this particular project, we have about 150 drawings that we are working with. The biggest problem is the drawings we receive are in various units, and we draw in millimeters. So when we go to XATTACH, we have to make sure the XREF drawing's units are set to mm, although most of them are not. So we navigate to the XREF drawing, open it, open the UNITS window, change it to millimeters, accept, save, and close the drawing. However, when we go back into the actual drawing to XATTACH again, the unit change in the XREF has not taken effect. Reopening the drawing and launching UNITS will show that, indeed, the unit change was not saved. Doing it a second time will take effect, but why do we have to do this dance in the first place?
This problem occurs about 50% of the time. I can't seem to find a pattern with it. If I make a change to the XREF drawing itself as well as changing the units (like moving the pan or zoom), but to no avail.

Our office created a library of blocks for use in our dwgs in the early days of Autocad. Since installing MEP2013 when inserting the blocks many of them have mysteriously changed from inches to millimeter units. We have to go back to each block(dwg) and change the units and rescale the blocks. We upgraded from MEP2012 and they were working fine.

I have a drawing with views and I made a parts list from the main view to be structured. Is there a way to create another parts list with different options or delete it and create a different one? If I do delete it and create a new one the options are greyed out. Is there a way to delete this or change it?

In the attached screencast video you will see that I have a drawing set up on the left of the screen to show where all the sections are taken through the building. I have setup a layer called SPC SECTION LINES which is set up to be bylayer and on the colour green.
When I XREF this drawing into the sheet file on the right side of the screencast you will see how the colour turns yellow when reference into the new sheet file?
Why does the colour of the line change when it gets xrefed into a new drawing?

i am trying to reduce the sensitivity of osnaps by changing the aperture. However, no matter how big or small I make the setting, my snaps are still way too sensitive. I can move my crosshairs across a whole line that's 48 inches long and I can only snap to an endpoint or midpoint (I want to just snap somewhere along the line). I have tuned on the option that shows the aperture, and it's definitely changing astetically, however the behavior of osnaps have not changed

Floating command line width gets shorter and shorter everytime you open up AutoCAD? Civil 3D is real bad, I used it to shoot the above video. In regular AutoCAD, it still shrinks, but it shrinks a lot less.
Any tips for keeping it floating but making the width stay constant?

What happens to older part materials that were created by customer when you upgrade (or downgrade as it has been for our company) from 2011 to 2013.
My problem is that all of my dimensions and text have changed colour to white, with my by layer colour as an outline of the text, the arrows and lines still look correct however. I put the dimensions on a seperate layer and this seemed to happen after hiding this layer then later unhiding it. I have looked through the properties to change the colour unsuccessfully.
On another note, the monochrome print option does not work when creating a plot - it will still create it in colour. What can I do to sort these issues? It is fustrating as all I really need to do with this drawing is to export the it for a report and it looks messy!
Is there a way to open or convert the byte ordering so that GIMP opens myimages in little endian order? Right now my images are being read MSBfirst, which is not useful at all. Im using FITS images.I am definitely new to gimp
View 1 Replies View RelatedI created 8 points (4 locations with 2 depths in each location) in the DWG of my AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013 project. I grouped these 8 points into 2 Point Groups: Point Group 1-high depth has Points #1, #3, #5, #7, and Point Group 2-low depth has #2, #4, #6, #8. I changed the 2D Wireframe to 3D Wireframe and on TOP view I saw Point Group 1 is on the top of Point Group 2 (because the 2 Point Groups have the same values of X- and Y-coordinates with different Z(elevation) value - see the first attached file. How can I change the TOP view to the TOP-FRONT view by using some Command to get this fixed TOP-Front view thar has the good separation of the 2 depths as shown in the second attached file?

The icon spacing in the toolbox randomly changes its inter iconspacing, see [URL] .........
The only way I can get it back to normal seems to be to close gimp downand restart it
Maybe it has been corrected in 2.8.4 but SUSE haven't offered this intheir repositories.
Is there another setting that I can tweak to restore the inter iconspacing.
The attached files are two sprockets. The original part has 30 teeth. I need 34 teeth.
The MODIFIED part has one of my attempts at making 34 teeth. I have tried the following with the same error dialog box (see below):
1. Edit Sketch_6 (associated with Extrusion1) by deleting all but one of the teeth lines (2 arcs and 2 lines that make up a tooth) and making a circular pattern of 34.
2. Same circular pattern, except this time I "Close the Loop" (right-click on one of the teeth line segments > Close Loop > click on all the segments until the loop is closed).
3. Same circular pattern, except this time change the resulting patterned lines into construction lines, trace these lines with arcs and lines of my own (not construction lines), and close the loop on my own lines.
When each of the 3 attempts failed, I tried deleting Extrusion1 and making a new Extrusion feature from Sketch_6. I cannot select what I want in Sketch_6 in order to make the teeth.
I'm at the point where I'm just going to take the dimensions from the circular pattern sketch of 34 teeth, delete Extrusion1 and Sketch_6, and make my own sketch and extrusion.
For the future, I really would like to know - why is it so difficult to alter features like this? Yes, I understand that Sketch_6 is not fully constrained, and on top of this I am not privy to how it was generated in the first place (this is a part file from a vendor). But it does not strike me as something overly complicated for the Extrusion feature to recognize a change in its associated sketch. This is not the first time I have encountered something like this.
I'm not sure what I did to make this happen or how to change it back, but for some reason when I change the size of an object/line it changes the stroke weight as well. (For example, if I drew an ellipse with stroke weight 2 pt, and then increased the size the stroke weight would be 2.856 pt or some such number instead of 2 pt.) How to change this back?
