AutoCAD 2010 :: Setting Elevation On Lighting Blocks

Feb 13, 2012

I am working on an electrical plan and am having some issues setting the elevations on the lighting blocks that I inserted into the drawing.  When I select all the lights at once to set the elevation (or Position Z, as there is no elevation option) to 14', they all go to different heights. I need them all to go to 14', which is the ceiling height. The lights that are recessed need to have the bottom at 14' and the lights that hang need to have the top at 14'.

Attached is the file for reference.

AutoCad :: Flattening And Setting Everything To Elevation Zero

May 2, 2012

make a drawing to be flattened and set to elevation zero.

I do have the flatten command from express tools, and that works only to make everything to 2d, but i need a simple script routine to set all objects to elevation zero.

This is my current methodology

1. select objects
2. flatten
3. select same objects
4. explode
5. select same objects
6. explode
7. select same objects again
8. In property's, adjust Z axis to 0.

I fear that this is too long and bulky, and sometimes it wont work.

I also fear that any lisps routines are completely out of my league as i never used them before and my company never really had a need for them, but i am willing to give them a shot if it means that they will save me some time.

AutoCAD Inventor :: View Lighting Setting And Duration Of Tag Show Up?

Oct 15, 2011

The acquaintance with new 2012 Inventor gave several tiny but annoying problems.

The lighting settings is not so good as 2011 and requires alterations. The View - Lighting setting is always turns to Two Light instead of desired Default. The question is how to permanently set it to desired setting in ALL project? When I create the new lighting style it is visible only in that file. How to make it visible and set by default in other files? [URL]

New 2012 has option of showing the name of part or assembly while cursor stops hovering over the object. Is it any time setting of duration of that option? It is quite annoying waiting for turning off or shutting down unwanted show up. It also either work or not work at all.

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Setting Parameter Values At Block Insertion?

Jun 16, 2011

how (if) I can set up my dynamic blocks so that I can set the parameter values as I insert the block, rather than with the grips afterwards?

To take a simple example; I have a block consisting of a rectangle, with 2 linear stretch parameters - length, width. Can I set it up so that when I insert the block, it asks for the length and breadth, just as it would for attributes.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Elevation (Z) Out Zero

Aug 6, 2012

I have a problem with lines that begin and end outside the Z is zero, and polylines with elevation outside the Z zero. The difference is very small, for example, -0.00000112, or 0.00000078. I checked the possibility of using the Flatten command but does not always work, even though there hatches in the drawing. Polylines and Blocks also cause problems with the command by flatten.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Insert Lighting Block Into A Drawing

Feb 12, 2012

I have a lighting block I need to insert into a drawing. Who ever drew the block did so upside down (so the top is really the bottom). I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to "rotate" it so that the top is correct. When I rotate the block, it simply keeps the top the top. When I copy and paste it, it stays the same as well. I tried inserting it into a new drawing.

I have tried using fields inside an ATTRIBUTE or a simple DTEXT but the field does not update, it only picks up the DEFAULT of the attribute, not the user entered input. How can I do this?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Export To 2010 Changes Elevation Units?

Nov 5, 2012

I'm using the exporttoautocad command to convert a 3D drawing with a proposed surface (a TIN object) into a drawing with just contours (polylines with elevations). My original drawing is in feet and has a NAD83 state plane coordinate system.

Everything seems great in the exported dwg, except it is converting the elevation units from feet to inches!?  A contour that was originally at an elevation of 7.0 feet, ends up at 7 inches in the exported drawing. Spatial coordinates are preserved.

However switching tabs or doing just about anything causes the 3d object in the view port to revert back to wire frame. AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Point Elevation Takes On Elevation Of Snapped Object?

Dec 19, 2012

When I snap a point to an object, the point takes on the elevation of the object. I would rather the point's elevation stay as is.

-changing osnapz variable

-latest civil 3d service pack

A few weeks ago I did not have this problem but once my computer was switched to the company's global server and c3d was reinstalled the problem appeared. Furthermore (post switchover), when a colleage of mine prepared a simple test drawing with just a line and a point, he was able to snap to that line without the point changing elevation. When he sent that drawing to me and I tried snapping the point to the object, the same problem occured with the point taking the elevation of the line object. I suspect it is a system variable issue

AutoCAD 2010 :: Automatically Setting Paths And Configuring?

Jun 13, 2012

My company has many clients that each have different pen table, text styles, directories, templates etc. What we would like to do is create a toolbar/ribbon that does the following but not limited too:

1) Change the CUI file to the current client

2) repath AutoCAD so that the program will find templates, textstyles, pen tables, etc unique to that client (we keep each client setup files like this in separate directories)

I am sure there are other variables, pathes, toolbars etc we will need to change as well. What I would like is a toolbar button or ribbon button to do this seamlessly so that each user can quickly and efficiently change from one client to another.

how I can accomplish this or variables that would need to be changed in a LISP routine etc
