AutoCAD 2010 :: Automatically Setting Paths And Configuring?
Jun 13, 2012
My company has many clients that each have different pen table, text styles, directories, templates etc. What we would like to do is create a toolbar/ribbon that does the following but not limited too:
1) Change the CUI file to the current client
2) repath AutoCAD so that the program will find templates, textstyles, pen tables, etc unique to that client (we keep each client setup files like this in separate directories)
I am sure there are other variables, pathes, toolbars etc we will need to change as well. What I would like is a toolbar button or ribbon button to do this seamlessly so that each user can quickly and efficiently change from one client to another.
how I can accomplish this or variables that would need to be changed in a LISP routine etc
I can use for startups on new work stations. It will set all our custom search, toolpalette, and plotter paths and I have it working pretty well. My last hurdle is to add a trusted path to the environment to avoid users having to ok the startup lisp.
Here is a piece of the *file* is set further up in the code. It works line by line but evidently "vla-put-trustedpaths" is not legit. How can I get the additional trusted path written in to the environment?
Is there a way in AutoCAD 2013 to have it automatically change to a certain layer when you do common tasks. I am wondering if there is a system variable, or a routine that I could automatically load when I start AutoCAD to do this. It would also be nice that the layer would then go back to the original layer that was being used prior to the command. What are my options for doing this.
For instance when I load an xref I would like it to go on the layer; A-XREF. When I insert a block I would like it to go on the layer; 0, when I create a new dimension I would like it to go on the A-DIMS layer, when I create a hatch it would set to the layer A-WALL-PATT, when I add a leader with text it would go to A-ANNO-NOTE, etc..
I have a simple lisp routine that loads everytime one of my users opens a new drawing, It sets the printer paths, sets the template paths and sets a bunch of environment variables
One thing I would like to add to this lisp routine is the ability to add support file search paths.
Is there a simple setenv variable for this? or is it more complicated?
I'm setting up a render farm. If I install Max on a satellite machine and don't set the user paths for custom maps until after the 30 day trial expires, am I out of luck or is there a way to set it after the 30 days?
I have photoshop cs6 but it has some problem. The settings file/preferences file reset automatically itself after sometimes and all my saved configuration is lost
I tried reinstalling and also deleting preferences file but nothing worked.
I have just installed the Gimp 2.4.7 Mac Tiger PPC (with the Help Files) on an iMac G4/800, 768 ram, Nvidia GeForce2 MX (32mb). I was using 2.6.8 but this is obviously the right version for my computer specs. Just a couple of Gimp startup questions. How can I start the Gimp without the Splash Screen? Also, when the Gimp starts, there are 2 long, rectangular boxes. How can I get the "Layers, Channels, Paths" etc. box not to be part of the Gimp startup? Then, in the Main Menu box, I only want it to open only as far as the Paintbrush Configuration area. So when I start the Gimp, I just want the small Main Menu box to open.
I often find myself mistakingly painting with a brush on a layer instead of the mask as I should.
Is it possible to configure (or hack) Photoshop CS4 on a Mac so that when I select a mask it's outlined with a bright color instead of just a black/white dashed frame as now?
Is there a way to configure the mouse button settings in Maya 2012 similar to the Hot Keys editor for configuring key settings? I would like to change the ALT-RMB setting to pan the camera instead of dollying it.
I need this because I have a three button mouse on which the MMB is also a scroll wheel, and whenever I try to click it it always moves and starts dollying the camera view instead of panning the camera view. I can dolly with the scroll wheel so I would like to pan with ALT-RMB. Otherwise I cannot pan at all.
I have multiple of the same drawings. The drawing will stay the same but the device names will be different for each drawing. Is there a way to have a excel lookup table for each device and each drawing can reference to ?
Is it possible to assign a bunch of 'Lisp' programs to a template, so when I open autocad with my normal template, I also have the 'Lisp' options? If not, is it possible to load a single 'Lisp' program to load all the rest?
I have a 3d object located in model space and have opened up a view port in paper space to view the object. Now I have set up everything as I want this includes several other view ports not showing the 3d object. my problem is that I can use the hide command in the view port containing the 3d object and get the image I want. However switching tabs or doing just about anything causes the 3d object in the view port to revert back to wire frame. Is there a way to lock just the one view port with hide mode on without effecting the rest of the view ports?
I have recently installed autocad 2011 mac version, i want to change 3 wheel setting from panning to zooming i changed mbutton pan from 0 - 1 but still its not working, i changed zoom wheel from 0 - 1 but its not working and in mac mouse settings are pre installed.
My viewport scale list only has metric and I would like to add a list of imperial scales for general use. So far I can only add, through Annotation Scaling panel and Scale list for an individual drawing so once it is closed I lose the scales.
how do I list my imperial scales permanently for use throughout the program.
Is there a way to change the default arc type in AutoCAD 2011? Currently, the ARC command defaults to "Start, End, Radius". I would like it to default to a 3-point arc.
I am creating seed files for contractors and clients to use. I have created the object data table(s) in AutoCAD Maps beforehand to be able to view/edit in AutoCAD Civil/Civil 3D 2010.
Is there a setting that automatically attaches this data to any object (line, circle, block, etc) drawn in a sheet. I am hoping to skip the step of manually entering "adeattachdata" and then selecting the objects that the object data is to appear. I realize that each sheet would only have one object data table.
My colleague made some drawings using AutoCAD 2011. Somehow the sheet status in Sheet Set Manager says all the drawings are locked for editing - it was unintentional. The drawings can be fully viewed only from the computer, which created the drawings. In other computers, we can only see the text. The model view and the bottom of the drawing which contains drawing number and other info do not show.
We need to deliver our drawings to the customer so they can see the coordinates in the maps/drawings.
How could we change the status or unlock it so the customer can view the entire drawings? If possible, we still want the drawings unable to be edited.
In our computer, we have AutoDesk Vault - did it somehow kicked in automatically?
Is there a way to set the “lineweight” to be Color-based automatically?
I’m wondering if there is a way to set the lineweight to be color-based such that all the objects have the same color will take the same lineweight automatically.
Sure, we can control such behavior through the “bylayer” feature but I’m not sure if this very particular behavior might exist in the AutoCAD; color-based lineweigth!
For some reason I cant get my lisp files to automatically load. im doing the same thing i did in other versions, but i have to constantly tell them to load when i want to use one.
I have them in the search path, i have them set to load with every drawing in options, what am i missing?
Setting a lineweight for the dimension objects,As the dimension object contains: text, dimension line and extension line and behaves as a block, then why the arrowhead (oblique) of the “dimension line” doesn’t follow the lineweight chosen for all the dimension objects?why the "arrowhead" (oblique) is thicker than other dimension elements?
Trying to set the scaling of bitmap images and the scaling is stuck in in(chess). As I am working in metric with everything set to metric why is in still in imperial and can this be changed via a setting?
And what happened to the 'fit to gismo' setting? How are you supposed to do this now?
I want to set the Textheight system variable using Autolisp. However 'textsize won't work.
I am setting up a routine so that when I want to draw a 1:100 scale drawing my dimscale is set to 100 and my textheight is set to 350. Likewise when I want a 1:50 drawing my dimscale is 50 and text height is 175. This way I don't have to keep changing the height setting when I'm using dtext and mtext.
I am working on an electrical plan and am having some issues setting the elevations on the lighting blocks that I inserted into the drawing. When I select all the lights at once to set the elevation (or Position Z, as there is no elevation option) to 14', they all go to different heights. I need them all to go to 14', which is the ceiling height. The lights that are recessed need to have the bottom at 14' and the lights that hang need to have the top at 14'.
Can autocad automatically create a sequentially numbered array. I do concert seating and am looking to create an array of seats and have them be numbered automatically as I create the array.
