AutoCAD 2010 :: Setting Up Scale List?
Nov 25, 2009
My viewport scale list only has metric and I would like to add a list of imperial scales for general use. So far I can only add, through Annotation Scaling panel and Scale list for an individual drawing so once it is closed I lose the scales.
how do I list my imperial scales permanently for use throughout the program.
I'm on Autocad 2010.

Is there a way to modify the DEFAULT SCALE LIST to show a metric scale list in an imperial template? I mean, I start a drawing using the imperial template, but i want to use the standard metric scales on paper space. on previous versions the scale list shown both imperial & metric. Now it depends of what the template is using.

And what happened to the 'fit to gismo' setting? How are you supposed to do this now?

I can't find the correct location to put the files from the scale list cleanup utility in 2012.
I know it's supposed to go in the default installation directory but it doesn't seem to be working in any folder for 64bit.

I cannot find the Standard Scale list anywhere in my 2010 version of AutoCAD. Only the Annotative Scale list is visible and usable. Note: it's not that certain scale values are missing, it's that the entire Standard Scale function is no where to be found!
I need to be able to change the scale of a viewport, but the Standard Scale list is not included as an option in the Properties Dialog box, nor is it in any of the other suggested places where it should be. I've used the Standard Scale list many times before in previous versions of CAD and from everything I can tell 2010 should have it.

I would like to find a lisp that changes the scale of something that has an annotative scale and deletes all other scales in the object scale list. Often i have many different scales of existing dimensions or objects. i waste a lot of time opening the annotation object scale dialogue box, selecting add, finding my scale and deleting the old scale.

I am rebuilding the entire back porch.
I would like to set the scale so i can visually see where my joists , hangers , tiers, etc go.
How do i set an accurate scale for a drawing such as this?
Setting Scale .porch.dwg
THIS DRAFT is most certainly NOT TO SCALE.
As usual, i am NOT sure i am asking the right question.
I am trying to use the smallest of the squares in GRID to equal "X" amount of inches so the entire drawing will fit. I do NOT need to use grid if it there is an easier way. No contractor...I am the only one using this and its just to make my initial materials list and get a picture of how things will go....

Is there a way to print out the exact scale just like using manual printing or I just can use
// a 1 inch: 2 units scaleacPlSetVdr.SetStdScale(acPlSet, 0.5);// a 2 inches: 1 unit scaleacPlSetVdr.SetStdScale(acPlSet, 2);
By the way, setting for example (acPlSetVdr.SetStdScale(acPlSet, 2.04);
I get eInvalidInput error.

There are several ways a user can set the scale of a paper space layout viewport.
Properties palette.
ViewportScale_Properties.PNG
Quick Properties.
ViewportScale_Quick.PNG
From the Taskbar. You'll find this in the lower right-hand corner of your screen.
ViewportScale_Taskbar.PNG
Via the Viewport Toolbar.
ViewportScale_Toolbar.PNG
Or manually using the Zoom > Scale > nXP option at the Command line. This method requires the user to enter a scale factor.
For a list of frequently used scale factors, both imperial and metric, refer to this thread. [URL] .......

We have recently noticed that after printing a PDF of a drawing I plotted from AutoCAD we are coming up with differences when we double check the scale on the printed hardcopy using a carpenter ruler.
For example, there is a dimension labeled on the drawing of 200 ft. However, if I try to scale this out with a carpenter's ruler at the drawing was set to (say for instance it is 1 inch = 100 ft) I am coming up short of the 2 inches it should be (typically come up around an 1-15/16" or around 194 feet, approx 97% of the correct amount).
In the Page Setup Manager in AutoCAD, I have the following options selected (see the print screen as well):
Printer/plotter selected: DWG to PDF.pc3
Paper Size: ANSI full bleed B (11.00 x 17.00 Inches)
What to Plot: Layout
I don't have a plot scale scale other than the default 1" = 1'
No plot style selected
Then, on the print menu when I open the PDF that I have exported from AutoCAD, I have the following settings (see the print screens I have attached):
Printer: The printer I use (Konica Minolta c650 Series PCL)
And I have selected the Options "Auto Rotate and Center" and "Choose paper source by PDF page size**"
** Note, that I have tried unselecting the "Choose paper source by PDF page size" option and accordingly changed the paper size in the "Page Setup..." button at the btoom to match the document size (i.e. 11.0 x 17.0in) and it gets the difference to be closer (i.e. I now get 198 ft but some of my border gets cut off). See the print screen below for this a print screen of the print menu and sub-menu of Page Setup showing the paper size selected.
I saw that some people in other forums state that there is no real solution when trying to scale off of PDF's and that there should be a disclaimer saying as much if you are to send the file out to a customer who may rely on doing some in the field scaling from the printed copy of the PDF file. I find it hard to believe there is no solution as we have received some drawings from others whom the scaling works just fine.

I work in autocad 2010 and I draw in scale 1:1 . What an annotation scale is, moreover I have never used annotative objects in my drawings.
Nonetheless, when I try to plot a drawing, while I am in the model view, I choose the scale in mm/units, I select the plot area and when I press preview or plot, I get the message THE ANNOTATION SCALE IS NOT EQUAL TO THE PLOT SCALE. DO YOU WANT TO CONTINUE?
I press yes, I print it and the outcome is always a bit smaller than it should be.
When i am in the layout mode and I try to plot, I dont get this message. But I dont know how scaling works in this case. For example I want to plot in a A4 paper, scale 1:100. So I type 1000mm/100units, as I did in the model mode, but the result is wrong.

I have the following rule:
If OD=900 mm And Filter_Type = "Aerob" ThenMultiValue.SetList("FilterSize", 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5)End IfIf OD=900 mm And Filter_Type = "Donaldson DLM" ThenMultiValue.SetList("FilterSize", V3/7S, V4/7S, V8/7S)End If
For first condition everything is ok. But when the second one is valid it gives error:
Conversion from string "V3/7" to type 'Double' is not valid.
Maybe I should add that the parameter "FilterSize" was made as Text and multi-value.

I am using version B.219.3 (UNICODE) of Autocad Civil3d 2008 with service pack 2 loaded.
I am putting together some plan and profile sheets for a civil roadway job.
The annotation scale setting of the text in the profile xref and alignment xref is being ignored in the sheet file viewports. This text should be appearing at 1:40 scale, automatically, same as the viewport scale, but they are appearing very small instead. According to the way annotation scale is supposed to work in Autocad2008, this annotation should be appearing at the correct scale, automatically.
If I try to adjust the annotation scale to a ratio I think will work, it automatically adjusts the viewport scale to match whatever I enter for an annotation scale. What to try next.
Can files become corrupted in AutoCAD? If so, are there utilities to repair corrupt AutoCAD files?

AutoCAD to draw various drawings, my issue to set scale.
1. what are the procedures of setting scale in modal space? say if is 1:1 then how to make 1:2 or how to recognize if someone has set a scale say 1:20 in modal space so that you return it to 1:1?....( here i need the procedures)
2. what is different among the following, one using mm, another using cm and the third one using m when drawing in modal space, do these people face different if they decide to use the same scale in layout to print? say if they us 1:50xp, what will happen, in their output.

I set up a new page thus (I live in a country which uses metric units, so ...):
Drawing Units Setting18-07-2013 9-24-06 AM.jpg
Then:
Command: '_limits
Reset Model space limits:
Specify lower left corner or [ON/OFF] <0.0000,0.0000>: 0.00,0.00
Specify upper right corner <3.5000,2.7000>: 3.65,2.74
Command: C
CIRCLE
Specify center point for circle or [3P/2P/Ttr (tan tan radius)]: 1000,1000
Specify radius of circle or [Diameter]: 250
Command:
and I get:
Range Problem 18-07-2013 9-36-57 AM.jpg
The circle was centred at x=1000 metres, y=1000 metres, yet it displays right down at the bottom left of my screen. Compare the radius of the circle to the distance from the centre to the origin - it's nothing like 1:4! Look at the coordinates for the cursor!
Zooming in and zooming out has no effect on the huge dimensions indicated by the coordinates.
I know this must be simple because it is not mentioned in any textbook or tutorial I have been able to find. Authors don't seem to think it is important, but it's driving me nuts! The question is this:
How do I set the page size and grid scale to something sane?
I am pretty sure that this scale problem is at the root of many of the other problems I am having. A14 is doing it's job faithfully but the display is so small that I cannot see what is happening !

recently upgraded to a new stand alone LT 2012 on brand new machine.I only work in metric millimeters. When I open a new drawing and set up a viewport on a new layout tab the viewport scale list is as one would expect i.e. 1:1 1:2 1:4 1:5 1:10 1:25 1:50 etc etc
when I open an existing drawing I only have the option of imperial scales i.e. fractions. I have tried simply adding the most commonly used scales to the list but once the drawing is saved and closed, they have disappear when reopened.

I have tried to find if my problems has already been addressed but cannot find any reference.I am adding a value to the scale list in 2012. The list goes from 1:20 to 1:30 and I want 1:25.
When I add in the drawing it is still there in subsequent edits. When I create or edit another drawing the value is not in the list!!
Is the viewport scale list default needing to be edited elsewhere for it to become a global change because no matter what I try it only stays resident in drawings I edit the viewport scale list!

I have a problem that I cannot seem to solve. I have a drawings with a whole bunch of layout tabs that have a few viewports in each tab. One of these viewports on each layout tab is on the layer VIEWPORT. I did this so it would be easy to filter out the other viewports in the drawings. I am using the code below to change all of the viewports with the layer VIEWPORT to the Custom Scale 0.020833. This works for all of the layout tabs except the first tab. It will not for some odd reason work on the fist tab.
(setq vieportfilter (list (cons 0 "VIEWPORT")))
(setq ssetvp (ssget "x" vieportfilter))
(setq cntrp 0)
(while (< cntrp (sslength ssetvp))

The drawing is empty, there's only layers, dim style, text style and multi leader style and a few block. I've tried purging everything and I still can't delete it.
