I often find myself mistakingly painting with a brush on a layer instead of the mask as I should.
Is it possible to configure (or hack) Photoshop CS4 on a Mac so that when I select a mask it's outlined with a bright color instead of just a black/white dashed frame as now?
I am having trouble with using my layer masks. I can use the masks that are hidden (shown with black screen) and apply them with the white brush, but I cant get white or shown masks to be taken off with the black brush. Sometimes, not always I have trouble adjusting the opacity of white masks. I was playing around with actions I downloaded and after applying three actions to a photo, elements froze on me. I read about trashing preferences, I dont know what that does or means but I tried to hit cntrol alt shift when photoshop was opening and nothing happened. When it first opens it shows I can install the new inspiration browser ( i dont know what that is either) thinking it was a required update I tried to update and it gave me an error message, something about the installer has been mis-configured.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have just installed the Gimp 2.4.7 Mac Tiger PPC (with the Help Files) on an iMac G4/800, 768 ram, Nvidia GeForce2 MX (32mb). I was using 2.6.8 but this is obviously the right version for my computer specs. Just a couple of Gimp startup questions. How can I start the Gimp without the Splash Screen? Also, when the Gimp starts, there are 2 long, rectangular boxes. How can I get the "Layers, Channels, Paths" etc. box not to be part of the Gimp startup? Then, in the Main Menu box, I only want it to open only as far as the Paintbrush Configuration area. So when I start the Gimp, I just want the small Main Menu box to open.

Is there a way to configure the mouse button settings in Maya 2012 similar to the Hot Keys editor for configuring key settings? I would like to change the ALT-RMB setting to pan the camera instead of dollying it.
I need this because I have a three button mouse on which the MMB is also a scroll wheel, and whenever I try to click it it always moves and starts dollying the camera view instead of panning the camera view. I can dolly with the scroll wheel so I would like to pan with ALT-RMB. Otherwise I cannot pan at all.
My company has many clients that each have different pen table, text styles, directories, templates etc. What we would like to do is create a toolbar/ribbon that does the following but not limited too:
1) Change the CUI file to the current client
2) repath AutoCAD so that the program will find templates, textstyles, pen tables, etc unique to that client (we keep each client setup files like this in separate directories)
I am sure there are other variables, pathes, toolbars etc we will need to change as well. What I would like is a toolbar button or ribbon button to do this seamlessly so that each user can quickly and efficiently change from one client to another.
how I can accomplish this or variables that would need to be changed in a LISP routine etc
I am using photoshop 6.0 with a HP Color laserjet 4550. The problem is what ever colors I see in my screen are not the colors that comes out of the printer. some times I need to print several copies to adjust the colors is photoshop, which makes the work VERY tedius and much more difficult. Could any one tell me how to adjust the color settings in photoshop so it would match what the printer can do?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI create animated gifs frequently using the Frame Animation pallet. The default frame rate starts out as 10 seconds, so I always have to change it to 4 seconds. Is there anyway to reset the default frame rate that I start out with to 4 seconds, so that I don't have to change it every time?
Preferences did not yield any promising menus
I know the standard default reset with many Adobe products is to change it without a document open, but in PS CS5.5 if you do not have a document open the frame rate option is greyed out

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am editing a short avi clip converted from a 1959 8mm film in the timeline. The telecine conversion results in as sharp an image as I have manged to get using PPro 5.5 unsharp mask. I tried mocha planar tracking to automatically remove a fixed spider web on the top edge of each frame in the clip.
Because the web is not distinct and the background does not progress at a steady fixed pace, the mocha procedure was not successful. Previous feedback recommended methods to mask the edge. Using various masking attempts to automate the procedure was also unsuccessful for the same reasons as mocha.
I have the time and decided to replace the spider web on each frame edge using photoshop tools e.g. clone stamp etc. - although other tools such as healing brush do not appear to work in the timeline as I expect.
My saves so far have resulted in a whole clip being saved with all following frames being modified similar to the first edited frame. Perhaps I am not using the editing procedures in photoshop from the timeline correctly.
How do I save frame by frame in the timeline?
My band has just recorded our first music video. We are very happy with the result except that the glasses on me (the lead singer) during the close-ups look very funny, they are very skew, and the "frame" does not go behind the ear.
What I would like to do is to import the video and edit these clips frame by frame, where this is showing. There is about 15 seconds totally of me in close-up - 15 x 24= 360 images. The clips are about 1-3 seconds long. And I want to edit all of these short clips of me and then make it a full-length video again.
I made a quick edit on one of the images from the video. The shades still look a little funny but it gets better when the frame goes behind the ear. If it's possible to correct the "glass" part of the shades as well.
After using Custom Profile for Frame Generator, the Part List will show total length, not individually. How to split these frame members?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI come across this problem from time to time and generally either just ignore it, if the detail is destined for in house manufacture, or alter it in autocad if it's destined for exterior suppliers.
Our guard frames are manufactured from extruded aluminum section (made by a company called palletti) I have when needed created a new frame generator frame member for each new x-section that we wish to use. I then draw a 2d sketch for the base frame skeleton and then a 3d sketch for all the frame work above. This I then use in an assembly to create the framework. This framework assembly then goes into a second assembly where the framework is then adorned with all the accoutrements that make up a guard frame that we can then order as an assembled frame, panels feet, hinges et al.
When placing the views for the detailing of the second assembly sometimes the view will show the wrong length for one or some of the frame members.
;note how the left and right views are different and how some of the frame members are elongated on the lh view.
I'm guessing its because of the home grown frame members but all seems to work well other wise and this only happens infrequently.

I'm designing some photo frames and as they come in loads of different sizes, I'd like to be able to make the frame design bigger, in illustrator, but keep the width of the actual border. i.e. at the moment it's for a 10cm x 15cm photo with a 3cm wide border going all the way round - I want to keep it 3cm for larger photos.

It used to be that whenever i would move the cursor in adobe premier with either the left or right arrows or by simply clicking and dragging it, it would play the audio from that frame. But it is not doing it anymore, I think i must have accidently hit a shortcut key or something to change it in settings i dont know. But it would be good if I could get the setting to change it back. I know for a fact that my laptops speakers do work, so its not that.

When I go to the layers there is no masks. When I go to the windows, no masks. A post said that it was now under properties, but when I go there, it says no properties.
So I cannot even get started. My idea was to take this image and replace the screening area with a green background, in a manner that I thought might work similar to the video. the quick mask selected the desired area well and then I could go no farther.
Running Photoshop CS. I have two jpegs one of which I need to drag a section of the photo across to the other one. This is applied as a layer but I want to dissolve the outer edges of the picture into the underlying jpeg.
I've tried feathering but it doesn't give me the shape I need, as I'm limited to circular or rectangular shape. The rubber tool doesn't really gradient the edges away enough, even on maximum softness. I think I really need to use a mask but for some reason when I press Quick Mask and colour inthe edges then press Q it just leaves a marquee round the shape but doesn't remove the edge.
I recently upgraded to CS6 (version 13.0.1 x64) on a Mac OS X 10.7.4, and my masks are acting wonky. When I add a mask to a layer and then use the brush tool (using black) to paint on the mask to remove the mask from a portion of my image, nothing happens. If I invert the mask so that it's all black and then paint on with a white brush, I can get the effect of the mask.
But then if I happen to use the brush on a part of the image that has already been painted (it is white on the mask), that part of the mask turns black even though I'm using a white-colored brush. Is there some sort of setting I need to change? What am I doing wrong?
In cs5 the masks panel was introduced to encourage the use of non-destructive lyre masks. It was a handy place to view all masks andcrevisitvforvrevision of refine mask command. It appears to be totally gone.

View 1 Replies View RelatedEverytime I add an adjustment layer to CS5 layers palette, the adjustment layer comes in as a clipping mask and is clipped to the layer below. I must have accidently invoked something that is causing this. It is very frustrating and time consuming have to change each layer in my stack. WHAT DID I DO WRONG... and HOW DO I FIX IT.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to create a mask in photoshop CS, for some reason my picture starts to get deleted. In the picture below, I copied the background layer, and then deleted the background layer leaving me with just the copied layer. I clicked Add Layer Mask, and then clicked the Layer Mask Thumbnail in the Layers tab and then I clicked the Brush icon to begin making my mask.
In the next picture below, I tried to make my mask, but instead of that red color I normally get that show's where i'm masking, the picture is just erased.
I added another mask, when I start brushing it just switches back to the other?
